Description
S-Rank hunter Brandon Norwood is no stranger to transmigration and traveling between realms. He experienced it himself, having died once before and ending up on Earth. However, even he is surprised when he wakes up and sees his mother. His mother from his previous life. Brandon realizes that he returned to his home realm of Lumina, a land of magic and monsters. After taking up his previous identity as Gabriel Sturm once more, he must navigate a world both strange and familiar to him in unexpected ways. In the midst of this, he deals with the problems that plagued him in his first life, including the one that led to his death. However, Gabriel soon discovers that a greater threat looms on the horizon, one that threatens to destroy everything he holds dear. (Fair warning for fans of the old TRT, this version will be a lot different. Keep that in mind going forward.) *** New chapters released on Tuesdays, Thursday, and Saturdays Cover art by CREADFECTUS

- AzureWhaleRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Every once in a while you come across an author who can fool you -- in a good way. In this story we start out with what appear to be ordinary tropes, which are soon directed in unexpected directions. In addition to that, the author frequently introduces little perks of information that flesh out the story substantially more than you usually see.
There are some needless repetitions of basic information, but these aren't truly distracting. More of a housekeeping matter easily fixed by some simple editing than anything else.
Overall, this is one of the most interesting stories I've come across this year. (Currently September, so, yeah, it truly stands out.) I'm enjoying it as much as The Butcher of Gadobhra and Homestead Survival.
This is definitely one well worth reading. - NewbageRoyal Road★★★ 3.0The premise is interesting. MC is a denizien of a fantasy world that wakes up after a coma, having "lived" a whole other isekai'd life in an alternate post system apocalypse Earth during that coma. Speculation is that his soul went to another world before dying there and coming back, but who knows for sure?
World has two archetypes - - mages vs xianxia style cultivators, though cultivators are secret and hidden. Before his coma, MC was ridiculed as a talentless scion of a prominent mage family, before learning about cultivation during his coma. He intends to apply his cultivation knowledge to gain power now that he's awoken in his original world.
Problem is that the execution makes the worldbuilding seem small, and the plot seem too serendipitous.
In his first life or death engagement, despite decades of combat experience in his other life, he makes a rookie mistake and needs to be saved by his randomly acquired teammate.
And said teammate - - the first random one he encounters and has join him after he leaves home, coincidentally has a powerful and mysterious background.
Then in basically the first real duel he gets involved in after leaving home, his opponent mysteriously has matching otherworlder levels of power that rivals his own - - despite the insane advantage his backstory should provide.
All of these things serve to make the world seem small - - like hidden experts grow on trees - - while at the same time, the MC fails to live up to the level of competence and relative power his background and history dictate he should have.
Overall not a terrible story. But it could use more attention to making the world seem vast and lived in, and making the plot less serendipitous and thus more compelling.
The gripes I mentioned was enough to make me stop reading it, though I had not intentionally "quit" it. Only now, months or weeks after I have last read a chapter did I realize I had been unconsciously refraining from clicking on the next chapter because I lost interes - aAakritRoyal Road★★★ 3.0The reworked version of this book unfortunately feels rushed and overly contrived compared to the original. Events happen too quickly, and nearly every encounter introduces someone critically important or sparks a major incident. This constant escalation makes the plot feel forced and robs it of a natural, immersive flow. In contrast, the old version had pacing and buildup, allowing the reader to breathe between developments.Another major issue lies in the excessive reliance on popular tropes — regression, transmigration, and characters wielding foreknowledge of the future. While these could create tension or intrigue, they are overused here without meaningful variation. If time rewinds twenty‑five years, even characters starting from different points should display some divergence beyond simply “knowing what’s coming.” The protagonist’s advantage seems limited to being from Earth, discovering hidden martial talent, and learning about Murim and his parents’ secrets.Given the hints about his storm dragon bloodline, soul, and cultivation technique synergy, it feels like a missed opportunity not to grant him unique abilities or growth paths from the start. Overall, despite a promising setup, the rework sacrifices coherence and character development for constant spectacle.Grammatically, the writing is solid and well‑edited. However, the story suffers as described above — the character personalities feel subpar and lack depth, while the world‑building remains weak and underdeveloped in the chapters I’ve read.
- SlukinRoyal Road★★ 2.0Well, I read both the old version and this rework, and honestly, the rework is quite bad. Things just happens too fast. Everyone he meets is someone important or something happens at every chapter, it’s quite convoluted and forced, it doesn’t have a flow to the history. Even with all the major issues, the old version was better than the current one. Anyway, good luck author.
