Tread Lightly

Description

In a twisted version of the Old West, where Native American fables come to life, the land is teeming with blight and cessation. Skinwalkers, Bakwas, Urayuli, and even the dreaded Wendigo roam freely, constantly terrorizing humanity. In this unforgiving landscape, survival becomes the supreme dream, luxury an impossibility.

But hope lies in Ether, an eccentric substance that defies reason, and Sigils, granting individuals extraordinary abilities. So, as men and women from the burgeoning East venture into the treacherous West, they must navigate the nightmares that lurk within the wilderness and the horrors from above, below, and within.

Survival becomes a battle for the mind, body, and soul. Each step must be taken lightly, lest they fall prey to a grim fate—a forgotten corpse, a demon's feast, or the plaything of ancient and incomprehensible beings.

Fools tread where Angels fear to gaze, yet not all fools let themselves crumble. Some are simply too stubborn to break.

What to expect

Fights- This world is a violent one, so expect gore, killing, and plenty of combat. But that's not all there is.

Adventure- A vast world that is centered on the Wild West and that period of technology mixed with the supernatural in every aspect from guns to the government.

Progression- Both character-wise and power-wise throughout the story. This does not apply to just the MC. Anyone can grow. Even enemies.

Power System- I've tried my best to make a unique system with a bit of mystery to it. It takes effort, introspection, and experience to grow. And... a little murder. Powers are complex, vast, and have their own restrictions. Oh, and Gods might as well be eldritch abominations for the most part.

Don't expect harem, explicit scenes, Litrpg, tournaments, or kingdom building.

It’s definitely a shame that this story isn’t getting more views here on RR.
If you like the grimdark genre, a unforgiving world, a protagonist that actually needs to earn it’s improvements and well made side characters, you’re at the right place.
Also, author has an excellent release routine so you most likely will have plenty of new chapters to read on weekends.

What's going on. More than 2.6k pages and only 800+ average views. RR is failing this novel man.
Kudos to the author for keeping up the  grind.
The novel has a unique progression system and a very similar apocalypse scenario. Geeks refreshing to treat tbh.
Good English and grammar. Combined with good multi character theme as well

This is one of my favorite stories here. I must've binged the first sixty chapters in a night or so, it's that interesting! BrokenSaint has built a world where humanity is struggling against demons and failing, (I know what you'll say about this trope) and Sigilled are the only defence to protect them from thess horrors. However, once you step in the shoes of Wyatt "The Wendigo" Graves, you are pulled into this amazing story and the struggle of this young man against horrors, and I'm not talking about just demons.
The story is well paced, with great action and even greater characters. The internal dialgoue can sometimes be long winded, but the imagery and poetic descriptions can make that interesting. Our MC is a young lad, so I can understand it when he agonises so much. In contrast, the other characters are well defined.
The grammer is very good, but I feel that the author can use shorter and more simple language during the monologuing to make the story more enjoyable.
Overall, I highly recommend you crack open a cold one and give this amazing story a go!

140 chapters deep in this crack on words of a book. Amazing side charcters, unique powers and a interesting power system the only things this book lacks, right now, is the attention of most royal road readers but with the quality of the chapters in this story. I would not be suprised if this blows up right now.

I have read up to date on my phone that is not logged in. The is an absolute banger. Originally, seeing 300+ chapters may seem like they are all very low quality with 2k> words per chapter, but that is not the case. The writer is incredibly talented and intricately weaves plot points from the the very first volume that are used throughout the rest of the novel.
This story really should have more recognition, and I think it is one of the best on the site, definitely in my top 5. While the grim darky feeling may turn some people off, the world feels much more like a fantasy western then Berserk. The power system also feels much more fair, and every next step feels earned and impactful. The progression system is definitely a highlight of the story. Colts and artifacts are also a pretty unique concept, and the things the author does with these things on top of ether are incredible.
The style for fights is also fantastic. The punch in the middle of Volume 7 is one of the best moments I have ever read, and one that I will be coming back to reread in the future. I would highly recommend this work over any other progression novel out there.

    I really love this novel.
It has a good protagonist, good writing style, good side characters, and a clear evolution in the history of the world.
The fights are well described, the emotions even more. And the power progression is really interesting.
The powers are unique, and the consequences for using them makes each fight really thrilling.
The god of this world work in such a cool and different way, i love it.
A must read in my opinion.

    Dear readers
It took me a lot of time to gather my thoughts about this story and figure out how to do it justice in my review, and I still don't think I can do it right, but Tread lightly is nearing its end and I had no choice but to go for it. Now, the reason that happened can be summorized in a single world, Passion. This story radiates passion with the intensity of the sun, and any story containing so much heart and soul is a masterpiece by default in my opinion. I have been here from near the start and seen the author slowly improve in all aspects, the grammar, the style, the world building, the pacing, and all those technical skills, but even from the first chapter I felt the visceral and raw emotions the characters were feeling. That's something that only happens when the writer cares about their story a lot, and I respect the hell out of that kind of thing.
Getting to the actual review, Tread lightly is the author's first book, and it shows. There are some painful grammar mistakes in the earlier chapters, the pacing is a bit off, characters tend to go on tangents and ramble off world building information, and the magic system is explained and expanded upon almost to the exclusion of all else. Of course, all those problems get solved in the later books, but I imagine it would be a rough experience for someone coming into this expecting a polished story on par with the biggest names on RR. Saying all that, it may seem like I'm discouraging people from reading the book, but it's the opposite. The charm of this is book is how the characters and the story itself evolve along with the writer's skills, and best of all, it's nearly a finished book. You can power through all the rougher bits and get straight into the high quality stuff with just a little patience, and it's not like the start is unreadable, it is in fact much more better than the majority of things you will encounter on this site, and as I stated earlier, the passion is overflowing.
    I have avoided goin

A wonderful story, love the progression of the characters, many characters have relevance and don't get left behind and love the sense of realism that comes with the struggles of characters and not just wholly raiding fantasy,mc works his ass off,a refreshing no romance
Honestly a bit sad that people are not reading this amazing work

If you guys like Lord of the Mysteries, Bloodborne, Lovecraftian Horrors, and Guns.
    You will like this.
MC is a young man who just lost his mother and has a missing father. He is unknowing of all the working of the world. He is learning and adapting but he is more a man of action than a man of thought.
What I like is that there are a lot things that are still a mystery even so much further in the story.
What I don't like is that MC's character growth is snail paced.
Characters are nice and well carved out
World building is great and unique
    Style is clean
Grammar errors do exist and are rectified when made aware of.

A slightly flawed masterpiece of a story for fans of progression fantasy and enthralling power systems. It starts strong with intense action and a face to the grindstone pace that sets the tone for the story, every ability and bit of progress is hard earned and very little is forgotten as time goes. The characters are likable and all enjoy their own progression, no recurring character remaining stagnant.
Of course it's not without it's flaws, the first few volumes are definitely a bit rough around the edges. The author's guiding hand becoming a bit too obvious at points to get the characters where they are meant to be. It's pace can occasionally get in it's own way, training and progression being mostly packed in frustratingly tight between fights.
However, all these flaws I mention here are improved upon and become less prevalent in later chapters. So don't let them hold you back from giving the book a try.
