Description

This is a crossover between Jayfiction's excellent Imperium Ascendent and Gate Thus The JSDF Fought There.

I do not own Warhammer or Gate credit belongs to Games Workshop and A-1 Pictures respectively.

Given I like the genre I am biased and wish the author the best in his writing. There were a few grammatical errors but not enough to break immersion, the only thing I would complain about is his absence of quotes for dialogue. I have nothing left to say but my review apparently has to be "at least 50 words long" or sm.

I liked the premise of the story and the inclusion of the JSDF as well as the Imperium. The last of the Thunder Warriors ad a primarch is a good twist. If possible, if you even monitor the comments from this site, consider completing the story. I'm sure that others would like to see more as well. Thank You.

In a nutshell, the story is fun, I'm enjoying it. Improvements could be made but I only have a few real criticisms with any weight. Give it a shot.
So, being that this is a crossover fan fiction of a fan fiction of 30K Warhammer the bar isn't very high, I don't even know if anyone set the bar up. That isn't a dig at the author or the story, it's just a fact that most fan fictions suck. This one doesn't. The story is pretty much what you would expect, the Imperium goes to war with fantasy land and absolutely smashes them. The JSDF hasn't shown up yet by the time of this review, but I'm certain that will be the make or break point of this story. No spoilers in this review.
Right off the bat, I'm going to get into the writing style, and this is my biggest gripe. The story is written like a script.
    Brad: My ear itches.
Chad: Why don't you scratch it?
Now that isn't terrible, it's just a bit odd to read compared to the usual novel style of "Look at what the Character is Saying!" The Character shouted for emphasis. It doesn't really take anything away, it's just different. The real issue I found in the first few chapters was incessant breaking of the fourth wall. To CC.IO's credit, he explained the rationale behind it to me. The story isn't totally true to GATE, and the warhammer part is based off of a fan fiction of 30K where the scattering of primarchs doesn't happen. The paranthesis'd fourth wall breaks were there to explain what was changed. It still makes it hard to really get sucked into an otherwise good story that already has a narrow audience.
This review isn't meant to just be incessant bashing of the author though. I like how the Space Marines are portrayed, I think they are right on the money for OP, but not invulnerable. The Author also has a good understanding of how to write the actual content of the dialogue, and all the characters do seem to have their own quirks of speaking rather than being same voiced instruments of the author.
