Description
James hates his real life. He spends his days being bullied in school, and at home he simply reads and plays games. The only thing he has to look forward to is immersion. When he is immersed in the virtual world he can be whatever, whoever, he wants: He can escape the world that has thrown him away.
As such, when a new game, Dungeon Core Online, comes out, James is excited to play. He immerses himself as soon as he can, but when he is set to create his character he is instead offered a different choice. Now, James is the Dungeon Core and he suddenly finds himself wielding more power, with more options, than he's ever had before. The only downside... there are people in the real world who do anything, even kill, to gain the power of a Dungeon Core in the virtual world.
This is the Final Arc. The first 4 Arcs are now available as published novels.

I can't wait to see what happens next! Will our pixy minx and our beloved core ever truely share anything but teasin? will Rue learn to controle her gambling? What new puns will show up next to split my side? Will our faverite explorers ever get their shrubery? What new foe will our core acsedently(or not) piss off? New typs of mimics or something more sinister?
I cant put it down once i start reading and can very clearly imagine the characters as the live and interact. I laughted my butt off so many times, plus come on, some of those pun just HAD to be made. All in all good adventures to be had by all, with a toss of mystery, romace and good old gamer rage.
The only two problems i had (even i struggle with this so no big) is: One is some spelling, grammer pronoun errors which could at a quick second glance could have been easly caught. and the second is this book due to its rather steamy romace parts and teasing should be apropreatly labled as atleast 13+ somewhere easy to see in your book expanation.(not saying it not there but its easly missible at the moment)
My rating 9 1/2 / 10 - ToutomoutochanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm only just starting to really get into DC books, but this is a pretty good one. The MC (named after the author, which is a little disconcerting) isn't overpowered but manages to hold his own--most of the time 😉. The adventurers are also fun to watch. The chapters are short but seem to be frequent (as far as I can tell; I'm not caught up yet). The writing could be a bit more polished, but that's often true in Web fiction. All-in-all it's an enjoyable story.
Edit: So, this has become one of my favorite fics. I recently got lazy about keeping up with a lot of stories on RR, but this is one I always make sure I tead. - Talon788Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Found this story and this website after reading the Author's excellent Bone Dungeon book. I am loving it. I started reading it less than a week ago and haven't been able to stop. 90 chapters later and I regret nothing.
The genius of setting his dungeon instance to just his town means that the real world shenanigans overlapping with the game world stuff makes perfect sense.
Can't wait to read more, and if I get to a place where I can spare a few bucks to back the author on Patreon I certainly will be doing so. - Michael MellenthinRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is the first content I have read like this. I have greatly enjoyed it. Can't wait to see more.
- Armageddon156Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's a fresh exciting take on the dungeon core genre, honestly, It blew my mind at first. Most times it's an MC having to slog through a dungeon and crush fearsome monsters but now it's been flipped over, the mc is the dungeon and has to keep looking for ways to crush unsuspecting adventurers
- Gingerbreadman27Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This was a phenomenal series. I read all the books within a few days. If you've got the time, these are pretty thicck and enjoyable. The wacky dynamics and definite personality of the characters are a strength of the author. Now I think a few things that I wish would change is maybe all of the drinking/smoking/habit style stuff be toned down? Aren't the main people like 16-17? Otherwise i think this was awesome, even if the ages didn't quite match up with what I've imagined. Reading about them made me feel like they were low 20's, except for specific moments with Dwight, this kid was really mature, but I guess that could be explained away like hes had more time to mature because of the Zone giving more time. Totally recommend anyone read this series.
- GoldenzealRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0No really... it is.
At least if you enjoy modern pop culture and memes, dungeons or Sci-fi set in a dystopian future with light-hearted elements.
It's not going to be for everyone, but for its targeted demographic it's fantastic.
At its core, it's about a guy who secretly builds a dungeon inside of a futuristic VR game run by the government while everyone believes an AI is running the dungeon.
But there are multiple side-plots of romance, drama, and much more.
Not to mention that the whole game may or may not secretly be a coverup for human experimentation, or just another of the governments already multiple ways to secretly spy on your everyday life so they can send professional hitmen to remove any undesirable elements of society.
But clearly, that would be ludicrous since there is no war in Ba Sing Se.
All hail the flying spaghetti monster. - GreenKingRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I found this book at 10 chapters and put off leaving a review until I was confident in the way it was heading. This style of dungeon core is unique and has an endless number of possibilities. Id write more but I would gush a bit. I strongly recommend this book but know that nothing is perfect.
- zeen3Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5More or less as above. The characters are a little boorish with no character seeming to defy their traits at any time (dumb bullies, semi-roleplay knights), most of the interest seems to come from betting and progress. Most conflict is a character doing something unexpected, the bullies and now a cheat achievement. Discussions with the author and the editor have proved fruitful for new ideas, but as it stands the writing is somewhat slow; though it has picked up pace with the recent occurrence.
Overall a good read with some awkwardness and lack of forethought, but hopefully with some pace and combat improvements; and perhaps some dummy adventurers (eg hireable NPCs), some solo characters and variation on parties (5/6 a party? Why never 2--4 or 10 or so?); a raid (likely to happen soon) and so on; plus a look at the outside world; there might be more improvements.
Not going to say that I would be capable of writing a better story. I would be unlikely to. It's that the changes could introduce more conflict and more forethought that it becomes possible. - EleMentalPhoenixRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Heya.
Style: Its good but nothing exceptional.
Story: Its a fairly common theme. With fairly common Concept. But its funny and entertaining enough.
Grammar: Im not a native speaker and didnt see any errors so yeah..
Character: Well how to say this.. The MC is a standard Nerd and the other characters are like a clone of real people.. but hey, it works.
I would recommend it
Keep up the good work
