The Soul Engine - (Isekai/Fantasy)

Description

Summary: Being summoned to another world is supposed to be fun. Or at least exciting. Either you find yourself in a Church being given a divine mission, or you wake up in a forest and have to survive off of the land. And if you're lucky, you get some sort of System as well, or at least a handy Cheat/Power-Up. Waking up in a prison cell with nothing but a pair of pants to your name is NOT the way things usually go. Unfortunately, nothing about Mikael's adventure in another world is going to be 'normal'. An attempt at taking a bunch of well-trodden tropes and ideas and putting my own special twist on them that will hopefully be engaging and exciting! Warning: This story has erotic scenes sprinkled throughout it. Based on feedback I received, each lewd chapter will be marked as such going forward. Update Schedule will be every weekday MONDAY-FRIDAY, with Saturdays and Sundays off!

Overall this has been great so far while a bit stereotypy it hasn't been like many others which seem cut and paste, but this seems unique in that aspect. I believe this has to do with the lack of a system that many other novels like this have. Having my own experience writing I can tell how much effort and skill has gone into this.

I find this novel as exciting, thrilling and entertaining. Some chapters are not advisable for impressionable young ones and those who are easily offended. But the scenes do give more than titillating purpose for they give a mature reader more indepth understanding of each character and how the main character adapts to each woman and their situations. If any description I can use for the protagonist, it is his Adaptability.

Style: Author is able to take the readers on an emotional rollercoaster. Transitions are well-executed and the flow remains constant. Exposition is done expertly and with precision, making me always hungry to read the next chapter.
Story: So far, so good. Nothing else to say. The main character being isekai-ed, then dying, then dealing with all those memories, threw me off quite a bit in the beginning. Although things have gotten better.
Grammar: Textbook perfect. No spelling mistakes detected, no sentence structure errors, no effort required to retranslate the text into something resembling proper English before I'm able to read it, and that's a blessing on sites like this one.
Characters: The main character confused me for a while. The whole memory thing, plus the whole Dark Souls vibe I'm getting from him threw me off for a bit. The thing with him being reincarnated, only for him to die nearly twelve seconds later, nearly put me off. It would likely have happened if I hadn't been told that he woke up almost immediately.
I hope the smut, when I eventually get to it, will be enough to round out the story and make the rapid up and down emotional tone worth my time and effort.

The story so far has been engaging and interesting, not falling into any of the classic tropes that often plague the isekai genre. As it is still early it is definitely still developing, but there are a lot of interesting plot hooks that Cambrian could pursue.
Cambrian's classic style has been present throughout this book so far with just the right balance of humour to keep things fresh. Rarely does a quality of writing like this appear, especially at the rate at which Cambrian writes new chapters.
The grammar has been accurate as far as I have noticed, or at least any errors have not been enough to disrupt the flow of the story. My personal peeve of overly long paragraphs is thankfully not present here, with a good amount of variation to keep the mind engaged, though Cambrian's works are consistently fantastic in this regard.
The characters so far have been believable and interesting, but I'm looking forward to seeing how they develop and change moving forward, especially if more characters are introduced in the future. The revelations that Mikael went through in the first chapter alone was enough to get me hooked and has only gotten more intriguing from there.
All in all, another great work so far by Cambrian! Eagerly awaiting the next chapter.

Cambrian pens another excellent free write, this time an original story. Soul engine possesses a truly compelling premise and wonderful characters that are a delight to read interacting with one another. And interacting with one another( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°).
Anyone who starts Soul Engine wont' regret the time they spend. I look forward to seeing where the story goes. Cambian has yet to disappoint me.

I like the take on the undead trope. Also the inner turmoil of the MC is done quite well, despite the fact he appears to become op very quickly. Still the story is interesting and the supporting cast is varied. I would like to get a more indeepth explanation of the MC's powers and how they can evolve

This was a fun read. One might say that it was a normal isekai story with an Overpowered Main Character and they would be right but also wrong because while this was full of tropes it remained light hearted, there was no beating about the bush and no mincing of words. I really enjoyed all four characters, eapecially how Mikael doesn't give up on himself and retains his humanity, deciding that he would survive on his own terms. And the other three female characters were pretty fun to read as well. All in all,a very enjoyable read and I heavily recommend this to anyone who is just looking to relax and read something fun.

Good balanced story with interesting mechanics I have not seen before. The characters are not cutouts / one dimensional, and the world building is done at a steady pace. Lastly, the power scaling in the early chapters appears to be done very well with the main character in particular. Would recommend.

Read this mostly on ao3. I like the author I like the work and the idea of someone having necrotech in them without being undead themselves is interesting in a very abyssal exalted kind of way.
What few fights there are were much better than expected. no great shakes but a good sense of geography and tempo.
The idea of a world..I dont' want to spoil but its an interesting response to isekaitis.
