Archonius is a tall mute young man, and he is also the executioner for his city Carcas in the country of Satir. The country Satir only has two laws: don't be a sorcerer and don't commit murder. With both being punishable by death, and Archonius being the executioner is not exempt from that law. One day he meets another man from a faraway country that shows him a strange book that gets the man killed and Archonius cursed, but that curse is also a blessing in disguise,
