This was true thousands of years ago, when our ancient ancestors carved out their earthly kingdoms in battles against dangerous spiritual beasts with nothing more than their fists and their arts, and it remains true into modern times. Anytruecultivator must be willing to sacrifice the lesser things of life on the never-ending road of advancement. Comfort, pleasure, friendships...even family is nothing more than a distraction for a cultivator seeking enlightenment.

...at least that's what everyone believed.

Lionel, high school junior at Shepherd Heavenly Academy, had tasted the early fruits of cultivation and found them wanting. Sure the health, strength, and speed that came from advancement were nice, and sparring other students was always fun. But the price of cultivation simply wasn't worth it.
