Consistent Comedic Tone: The narrative voice is the star of the show. It maintains a dry, sarcastic, and knowingly absurd tone throughout.
The story moves at a breakneck speed, which is perfect for a parody. It doesn't linger on any one joke for too long, quickly moving from one absurd scenario to the next, which keeps the energy high.
The opening fight between Johnny and Rufus is a masterpiece of absurdity. The escalation from a planet-shattering clash to the ultimate attack being a "Coke and Mentos" explosion is hilarious and perfectly sets the tone for the rest of the story.
A few concepts are repeated until they lose their punch. The "bullies misunderstanding 'taking on men'" joke is run into the ground with the grandmother addition. Similarly, the incompetence of the evil army is funny at first, but the extended sequence of them failing to break the walls could be tightened.
To elevate it from a very good parody to an excellent one, the author could focus more on showing the absurdity through action and dialogue rather than telling the audience what's funny, and ensure the protagonist's voice remains consistent with his intended role as a blank slate. This story is a fun, clever read that would resonate strongly with anyone familiar with fantasy and anime conventions.
