The updates were good but it's been a while so hopefully everything is alright the author and there are no plans to drop this. - Prithak PoudyalRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Style:
The story has a very good flow and is well written. Although there isn't much unique about the writing style what is true is that the structuring and flow leave no areas for complaints.
Grammar:
Although there are some minute errors, the author seems to be hard at work to improve them. The comments provided by the users regarding edits has been taken seriously by the author and in the newer revisions there is a visible improvement of grammar and spellings. The further this novel goes, I'm sure the grammar will get perfect due time.
Story Score:
The story, although we haven't got that deep into it and there is surely more to come, is engaging up until now. All I can say is that it is very well crafted
Characters:
There are some improvements that can be made with the characters as there isn't much emotions felt within them. Of course there is a place for this development to be made in the upcoming chapters. For example in the recent chapter we got some cool scenes with Armond and the protagonist's subsequent comments do set up his character and world view within his new life.
All in all I must say, it is a good book. - morphiwritesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The writing is surprisingly polished for a story with so few views and it cleverly stands out by adding unique twists to typical reincarnation and LitRPG tropes.
The plot quickly becomes engaging as it introduces the protagonist's mission to defeat the villain Lothar and save the world, a straightforward yet intriguing setup from the first chapter. Despite the conventional big picture, the journey there is packed with originality, particularly through the creatively described talents and minimal yet effective character dialogue that paints a clear picture of the cast.
Grammatically, the book is almost flawless, with a smooth flow that makes it an easy and enjoyable read. The main character, who is reincarnated as a villain in a video game world, is not only relatable but also well-crafted and multidimensional, which is a testament to the author's strong writing style and good use of imagery.
Overall, this story is a must-read for fans of LitRPGs and reincarnation narratives, especially those who enjoy a fresh take on the villain protagonist trope. The pace is just right, the style is engaging, and the characters—main and side alike—are vividly portrayed. This book is well worth the read and likely to keep you hooked, wanting to find out what happens next. - luda305Royal Road★★★★ 4.0Overall, I think the writing is rather quite good. It grips you as a bit of a page turner, and the way that worldbuilding and plot are woven together works quite well.
It's how good the good parts are that make the bad parts stand out even more when they would be less noticeable in lesser stories.
I won't belabor the point, but as many others have pointed out, there are aspects of the story that fit remarkably poorly (e.g., the bully subplot). Additionally, there are many other elements included which just don't get enough screentime because there are too many other things going on. Overall, I think both of these issues are just a matter of using the "kill your darlings" technique to clean up the story.
The other point I'd raise, related to the above, is that there are some pacing issues with the story. This is really only obvious in hindsight as it is quite the pageturner and so non-obvious when reading. But, for example, the world here has a magical assessment at the age of 7 for all children. Pretty typical. However, we don't even get to this until chapter 38, and then it runs on for 3-4 chapters (maybe more). And that's after we've been through at least a handful, if not several handfuls, of subplots. It's pretty wonky. Like, by chapter 100, will he even be a teenager yet? - tauRoyal Road★★★ 3.0The story is a popular setup - a guy gets reincarnated as a game villain, plans to change his fate and save the world. He is an heir to a county and a powerful mage. A strange choice is that we start the story when he is born. Not bad, just strange, and there are timeskips, so it's fine. He uses his past life knowledge to... synthesise adderoll when he's 6 years old. I mean... yeah, ok, reincarnation.
Where the story lost me, was the bullying arc. The protagonist, a high noble, heir to a count, for some bizarre reason goes to school with commoners. Not only that, he goes on forest excursions without protection and gets BULLIED and ASSAULTED by commoners. Tells nobody because "I gotta deal with this alone". What? That one scene was so silly that it completely shattered my immersion. The setting is just not believable. He's either a noble or a commoner, make up your mind. It reads as if the author just couldn't resist and desperately wanted to include a bullying arc for some reason, regardless for worldbuilding. - EphemeralDustRoyal Road★★★ 3.0I want to be fair and think that quite a few people wouldn't have the issues with the story that I do, and would recommend that people give this a shot.
The overarching plot, characters, and world are fun and interesting. I am a real fan of the reincarnated as the villian tropes, and I think that this story does that aspect really well. The MC uses his meta knowledge in realistic if a bit slow and a little to infrequent.
The major issues I have actually deal with some inconsistencies and the personality of the MC. The first major complaint I have about the MC is that in his past life he was a Doctor, so he has the stance of do no harm. Which is fine, but it is just used when it fits the narrative or just inconsistently.
One example is him being totally okay with releasing extremely addictive and dangerous medications into the world. It's understandable from a pragmatic viewpoint, but then at the same time he is a complete pacifist when it comes either people trying to kill him or in self defense in general. The disconnect bothers me, how can you be willing to ruin people's live via addiction but be totally against using force in self defense when you aren't really that much stronger than your attackers. My issue is mainly just the disconnect from his inner monologue/plans and his actions.
My second issue is what we are told about the world, and how the MC/story executes it. One is the idea that in 20 years from when the MC is born, Lothar the god of judgement will descend and wipe out humanity. Prior to that, the country will devolve into a bloody civil war. In addition a level 90+ sword saint is introduced as a driving plot point for revenge. This puts a clear timer and goal for the MC to meet. Then the story takes 15 years for the MC to kill his first monster and hit level 20. That means he has 5 years to gain another 70+ levels to even kill the red knight not even considering a god. Well thats fine, except we are then introduced to a character who has made it to - MainnoireRoyal Road★★★ 3.0There is weird stuff that is glossed over and prevented me from immersing in the story. It feels like some of the characters behave like cardboard cutouts rather than people. And the mc has some strange opinions.
To give some examples (minor spoilers):
The mc heals a grown man. Which we are told takes a genius while the mc isn't supposed to know how to read. And the grown man accepts it, no further question.
At a later date, the mc suspects his sister of being "bullied" which reads as her having a lock of hair cut off after having given permission ??
And apparently, the mc seems to consider that an offense punishable by death ? When the perpetrator is a friend of the sister about the same age.
So either the common sense is really weird here. Or there is something missing from the writing - TheHuscarlRoyal Road★★★ 3.0-except the MC is literally a toddler (preschool in later chapters). I don't get not at least making the story take place at ages 9-12 in the beginning, just for any interaction with adult characters to be remotely believable.
The healing system could be cool, but it's insane that there isn't a ton of healing-babies out there if it works like that. Why not just also give the MC a healing talent instead of having it be exploitable by just being a non-violent child (not a high bar to clear?)
Again, this could be a cool story if the MC's body was like 16 from chapter 2. Or doing non-toddler stuff in a sneaky way was a focus in a believable way and not dropping the pretense of sneaking from chapter 12 (i guess the MC does acknowledge in-story that they're dropping hiding their behaviour?) - Cranium9Royal Road★★★ 3.0The writing for the story is great the world is developed well and there is suitable tension in the story. But very interesting choices were made past the start.
Interesting choice no 1. The bully doesn’t make any sense at all but it can pass as a stupid kid so it’s fine.
no 2. The twist thrown in at chapter 24 had no warning beforehand and was a dealbreaker for me in the story. If there had been even a slight warning beforehand it would be different but there was none.
Ps: put the glossary somewhere else it was jarring to see suddenly and spoiled future chapters where it was put. - grovekeeperRoyal Road★★★ 2.5A basic reincarnation story in a game universe where the OP has so kuch plot armour that his traits don't affect him negatively and he has power beyond common sense. The biy is sickly with half of the original physical attributes, but at 6 months olf he can apparently crawl over long distances, take a fountain pen, write and read books.
