  It's a little weird writing a review for a story written for family members.  There's a sanctity here in another's home.  And if I had nothing good to say, I would have but an anonymous rating, not a review.
  But, alas, it is good.  It's a short story, about, well the synopsis is on the nose.  A family that gets together over the holiday season.  What the synopsis fails to note is that the story is in a fantasy setting, though the tags did mention fantasy.  But it's nice.  There's no dialogue, but the characters are well defined.  The story makes sense.  The grammar is almost flawless.  And the style meshes well with what the story is.
  In the end, it's a nice little piece, but not sweet fluff.  More whole grains wholesome than that.
  So, cheers I suppose.

  Told in three distinct sections with a bunch of fantastical allusions, the author declares this as a tribute to their family and yet the characters here are unrelatable and hard to identify with because of the prose. Unable to clearly ground ourselves as readers before being pulled along, the short story is well written, but emotionally impenetrable. The dynamics, the history, the descriptions itself make us as readers feel incomplete. As heart-warming as it is, this is something that feels personal and yet strange, as we readers are outsiders. The relatability and understanding from the prose are akin to someone wearing a mask and presenting airs.
