The failed retirement of a barbarian

Harkon, a former adventurer mercenary who worked for the Hadrian empire, lead by emperor Hadrian who is the definition of dictator, but his retirement isn't the peaceful farm life he wanted instead he's being wrapped up in a scheme to take over the continent, and he's confronted with the fact he was never a hero but a weapon to be pointed at the enemy.
