The Dragon And The Author

Description
'Kinsoriel, one of the oldest dragons across all of Gairemeer, was the target of many. This wasn’t of any issue to him though, he relished it in fact. Dealing out death to so-called heroes was almost a hobby for him. That ended today however. This time, his enemies had a hidden weapon on their side, one that would force this scaled menace to become the thing he hated most; a man. Now in the body of a man, the dragon must make a life changing journey to regain his true form, seeing the world through a new pair of eyes.' That was how it was supposed to happen. In an inexplicable event, the dragon avoided what was written out for him, instead bringing the Author of his world with him. If that wasn't bad enough, the book that gave the power to do anything in this setting went missing at the same time. Figuring out how this happened can come later. At the moment, Benjamin, the Author in question, needs to get his book back to put things the way they should be. But to do that, he'll need to get on his human loathing main character's good side. Can they put aside their differences long enough to get what they both want? Or will they destroy one another? What you can expect from this story: -Two main perspectives, with occasional diversions as needed. -Bouts of action that take advantage of characters strengths and their environment. -Twists and turns you may not expect. -A plot that always has something going on. -An ending (Eventually). Three volumes are planned, and that's it. Chapters will be posted sometime between once a week to once a month depending on my circumstances at the time, usually on weekends. As long as it's not between volumes, you won't see this in hiatus. Also being posted on ScribbleHub here: https://www.scribblehub.com/series/1050703/the-dragon-and-the-author/

- M.G DriverRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A hidden gem, the premise alone was enough to hook me, especially with the unique setting of how our dear Author came to be.
I'm not fluffing, this is legitmately a solid good novel all around! Give it a shot, can't spoil too much
Style:
Great pacing of the story, with a consistent and fluent writing style. I never once lose immersion in the characters or story.
The reason why I can't give full marks is because of the weird font variation between character POV. It seems to come out of nowhere. It makes the reading experience especially hard, but this is a personal opinion. If you're okay with varying fonts defining a character's POV, give it a shot.
Story:
Brilliant so far. Granted, there wasn't many chapters to start with it, but already there are clear big neon signs that this story is going to be amazing. I'm already hooked onto how B*****in is going to handle the new changes.
All the good things I want to say about the story are straight up spoilers, but already the potential worldbuilding behind the setting is fantastic.
Grammar:
No major flaws nor minor flaws except for the font thing, though that's a style choice more than a language issue.
Character:
It's very clear the author put in a hell of an effort to make the characters work and intriguing. I love the similarities between the Author and the Dragon, in that they are both equally egoistic in some way or another, and also similarly screwed.
The way their differences are portrayed as well makes for a nice reading experience. The dialogue truly fits their characters a lot, with the slightly flippant Author and the arrogant Dragon. (though their attitudes change fairly quickly.)
Overall - amazing story line, world, characters. Give it a read now! - PhoenixFierynRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story pleasantly surprised me with the premise and especially the main dragon character. His depth is a juxtaposition of light humor and a hint of darker themes and traumas. I particularly like how he has thus far intelligent against ploys of trickery, even if not outright immune to the subtle mental subterfuge as a result of it. His actions and dialogue are fun to read and often humorous.
Each character in the story plays a part, and the narrative feels deliberate, even if spontaneous by the nature of the premise. There are real stakes for the protagonists, and they’re enjoyable both alone and together. The story has a main goal, but is as open ended as it gets. Despite the initial premise that suggests a linear story, I think the guardrails have truly been decimated.
Besides that, the grammar and style works well for this type of narrative. There are infrequent errors, and those that exist are excusable. In other words, it wouldn’t impact the enjoyment of the story at all. As for the style, it switches from light hearted to serious at a drop of a hat—often times combining the two. Given the characters and aforementioned necessary spontaneity of the story (due to the plot), I think it works well. The elements of inadvertent humor really do make the dragon shine and fun.
Overall, I definitely recommend giving this a read. - Starry_Pen04Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overall: This immersive high-fantasy tale is a masterful blend of sharp wit, emotional depth, and unexpected twists. The narrative expertly balances grand mythological spectacle with a meta-narrative that pushes the boundaries of reality. The plot is fast-paced, emotionally resonant, and filled with clever, thought-provoking moments that captivate the reader from start to finish. The evolving dynamic between Kinsoriel, the proud dragon, and Benjamin, the "little author," adds significant emotional weight, making this story a memorable and engaging read.
Story: The plot begins with a simple premise but quickly evolves into a gripping exploration of power, identity, and transformation. Benjamin's loss of his Author abilities and his forced survival as a mere mortal adds urgency and tension, while the complex relationship between him and Kinsoriel drives the narrative forward. The introduction of Stromwell as a manipulative antagonist heightens the stakes, adding layers of mystery and conflict. The story remains unpredictable, with a strong focus on character development, making each plot twist feel consequential. The setting of Ferroes, with its danger and intrigue, further adds tension, ensuring that the narrative never loses momentum.
Style: The writing is sharp, vivid, and full of personality. The author skillfully balances detailed world-building with humor, often using witty dialogue to deepen character relationships. The pacing is quick, with smooth transitions between high-stakes action and quieter, introspective moments. The humor in the interactions between Benjamin and Kinsoriel adds levity to the story without undermining its emotional depth, creating a rhythm that is both entertaining and rich with emotional resonance. The style perfectly complements the narrative, maintaining reader engagement while allowing for character development and world-building.
Grammar: The writing is polished and professional, with impeccable grammar, punctuation, and sentence s - SKNit3Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5I will be as honest and respectful as possible about my review. I will only give my sincere and honest opinions. This is a great novel, and it had me hooked me from the start! I will definitely recommend it.
Style: The style of the story is amazing, really. It flows at an excellent pace. It is neither too fast nor it is too slow. It just flows naturally. It is also very easy to keep up with.
Story: This story is brilliant and nothing less. It is unique and interesting and definitely lives up to its synopsis. The author of the story ends up inside of his own book and has to work with his own creation, who happens to have an ego as big as him. I don't want to give up too much spoilers so I won't go further but it is a truly interesting read. One of the greatest storylines I have read so far...
Grammar: The grammar is good, and I did not see any errors. Most of the errors have already probably been corrected.
Character: The characters are well depicted and very realistic. Kinsoriel and Benjamin are also explored in depth and personality very well. However, I hope that most of the side characters introduced are also explored in depth a bit further to avoid them being one-dimensional. Still, the characters are excellent and there is no flanderization of any sort.
Overall: This is an interesting story and I will definitely recommend it. It is high fantasy with a very... very unique twist. It has an amazing storyline and amazing worldbuilding. You should give it a read. - USPRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I have been procrastinating regarding reading this story for a while, expecting it not to live up to my hopes for it. Having finally gotten around to reading it, I find myself pleasantly surprised.
Overall, this story is much closer to that of a published author than the usual content of Royal Road. The plot is always going somewhere; the overall setting is unique and quite interesting; the characters are good; and the grammar is very impressive, especially considering this is Royal Road. Personally, I would just ignore the synopsis, as I found it not to be very representative of the story beyond the initial setup.
Grammar/Polish: The way I read tends to involve me stumbling over even slight mistakes in sentences and spelling, and while I did find a couple of errors, these were very few and far between. I wasn't editing initially, but having worked through the backlog, I think I found only 3 errors total.
Style: There are some POV switches, perhaps they could have been led into better. Personally, however, I was never confused as to whose perspective I was in after the first sentence. The action scenes are pretty good, though nothing outstanding. I also found that there were some small details that the author seemed willing to let go over your head, should you not be paying attention. Perhaps some may dislike this, but I personally consider it a sign of quality writing. Beyond those notes, the writing is of high quality and I found it only complements the story.
Character: The characters are good, the MC in particular has a certain amusing and somewhat intriguing state of detachment from the reality around him, especially at the beginning of the story. Should you choose to read this novel, you will understand better what I mean. It is safe to say, though, that this is not your usual outlook, and I applaud you author for pulling it off as I found it enjoyable.
Story: The story concept itself is, as far as I can tell, unique. I'm sure you, the one reading this right n
