The corporations are claiming land and building their online marketplaces. Ozzy and his friends just want a paycheck. Four friends sign five-year contracts as virtual serfs in a small village, and can't go adventuring at all to gain money. They don't have many choices. They can work as a blacksmith, barmaid, and shepherd for all those years....or they can cheat and find ways to take advantage of the system and carve out a section of the game world for themselves, and earn a fortune in the real world. When they give you a mop and not a sword, you have to find the loopholes and change the rules.

I have had the luck of finding this story years into its publication meaning I have a backlog to chug through. This book has been my daily read for months now. I have it up while I am working, gaming, watching videos, really at any time.
Thank you for this amazing story.

I read a lot of stories on RR and SH (a lot... my wife makes fun of me for how many tabs I have open), and Butcher is unique.
It is very well written, the premise is good, the characters are deep and unique...
It also is very open ended, with so much story to tell... not just linearly, but in parallel (his other stories in the same universe are just as good).
    Highly recommend it.

The Butcher of Gadobhra is a little slow at first, but it blossoms into such a great story with such wonderful world-building that we may never see the entirety of the world (at least in one webnovel). The characters are alive, the story is original, and I read the chapters like I need my fix.

Best story on RR in years.
Style is well done and descriptive. No overbearing info dumps, except where it is needed. Numbers go up but don't go brrrr all the time.
Set in a dystopian future where everyone needs to earn a buck, and the corporations will exploit as much as possible. Enjoy the idea of working towards a better future of the Characters, and helping each other. Jumping into a VRMMO, the lead characters try their best to get forward.
Characters are well rounded, with all of them having strengths and weaknesses. Main character keeps a calm facade but has anger issues. Some people have more ambition than others, some winge and nag, others just want to see the world burn.
The story never feels stagnant, which is an absolute blessing. The side characters get their time in the limelight which helps in seeing the consequences of what happens in the main story. Loopholes are taken care of, even if a bit confusing in one instance.
Grammer is mostly perfect. There are generally a couple spelling mistakes per chapter, but the author actively fixes them which is a blessing.  When rereading the story, first spelling mistake was picked up around chapter 80.
Author is planning on publishing this book, and I believe it has enough quality to do it. Enjoy it while it's still here.
Author has expanded the world with his secondary novel (Tunnel rat) and keeps a high quality going with both of them.

This story is great. All of the characters have distinct and interesting characteristics. I never noticed any problems with the grammar. The story is well paced and interesting the entire time. Usually I am not a fan of multiple lead characters and it took some time to get used to it, but it is well done in this story.

Interesting lore and character building.I saw this book mentioned on a fantasy book review site and decided to download the app. So far I am engrossed with this story and  looking forward to reading more. I love that I am late to the game finding Royal Road as it seems there are many promising Authors here and I hope they are as good as this one.

Overall, this is a creative, well-designed VRMMO lit-rpg with a well-thought-out setting, and characters that provide nice contrast to each other, and create a sort-of rag-tag take on a traditional adventuring party. The attention to detail is apparent, and the author goes out of their way to bring the reader along for the ride as the characters discover more and more of the game world. I've been reading stories here for 6 years, and made an account to write this review. This story is great and the author should feel proud of their hard work.
Style: The detailed game system, well-thought-out world, with realistic characters that make logical decisions. Smooth perspective shifts between chapters.
Grammar: The grammar is essentially perfect, with small editing errors that occasional slip through. Perhaps 1-2 small errors at most every few chapters.
Story score: Creative take on corporatized VRMMO with extreme system personalization to each character and with essentially infinite freedom for creative expression for the player. Even the mobs have goals and lives, and each NPC recieves system rewards!
Character score: The characters are great, with distinctive personalities. The rag-tag creation of a humorous adventuring party is great.
Give this story a read, it will not disappoint!

This story checks ALL the boxes for me.
A Litrpg with great Chars, a real Plot, fun progression, crafting, and an awesome story all while the numbers go up!
I've seen this story a number of times but Have always passed over it for one reason or another....and I'm both disappointed and INCREADBLY glad I did. It made for an awesome week long story binge.
Event at nearly 500 chapters its no where NEAR enough!

Start is slow but it grows early and continues to grow on me. Thrilling, funny, entertaining, surprising. I really like the diverse group of characters. Each with his own great story but so much fun when they go together again. Thank you for this story, well done! CAN WRITE MORE MUST READ MORE :-)

Distopian reality which has resulted in most people working and basically living online.  A mash up of Dakota Krout Ritualisr series meets Drew Hayes NPC series.  Story mostly follows the day adventures of a skilled group of gamers who have signed up as contact workers to work for a corporation online.  The corporation makes an attempt to nerf the contract workers so they are unable to adventure effectively to buyout there contacts early.  The AI running everything has left loopholes that can be used so the contract workers are able to play the game.  Overall a very fun read.
