Description

UNDERGOING REWRITES. WILL RELAUNCH NEXT YEAR. THANK YOU FOR READING.

They lied.

The Demediom Project was never about saving Lavia.

It was about total, unadulterated control.

I hated every second of it... because Lavia was my home, too.

Long ago, five nations waged war that scorched the world. Caught in the crossfire was Lavia, a colonized island stripped of its identity and bled dry of its resources. When the colonizers left to fight their wars elsewhere, they left behind a broken land with one final gift of grotesque, vicious demons.

In the ashes, a single megacorporation seized the south, ruling over people and monsters alike. Lavia was doomed from the beginning, but some of us refused to accept that.

Nick Altair grew up with dreams of saving his homeland. Elena Lune, a florist on the other side of the country carried secrets that could change everything.

Little did they know that their fates would intertwine with events of unimaginable consequence.

The AKP Diaries is a memoir that recounts the tale of how two Lavians dictated the end of the Quint War, written and narrated by [ILLEGIBLE]. Bear witness to the truths, betrayals, sacrifices and losses in the journey that shaped our world.

This is our story.

This fic is just absolutely stellar. I’ll tackle the bad first because it is incredible otherwise.
The prose could use some work. It’s descriptive enough to know what’s going on, but not captivating enough to truly immerse me into tge scenes. Sometimes it reads like a movie script with a brief scenario being described and the rest follows. Characters are described only by their hair and eyes, with the rest being left to the imagination of the reader.
The pacing is kind of off at times, it flops back and forth between PoVs as well as past and present. On a first read it turns to be quite confusing, though I imagine this is a story meant to be read twice to get the full picture.
The dialogue at first was a bit iffy, but the longer the fic went the more it improved. By chapter 6 I could feel the chemistry from the main cast oozing from my screen, and by chapter 14 I was fully hooked on their relationships.
Now let’s get to the good.
The worldbuilding is incredible. You could really feel the effects and consequences of Eternal Drive’s governance over Lavia, and how the everlooming threat of demons lurks over them. The power system is simple enough to understand yet the author is creative enough to craft both fun and intense fight scenes which actually have purpose; they are actively used to move the story forward and have lasting consequences several chapters forward.
Speaking of consequences, I cannot get into this specifically without spoiling, but my god. The consequences of both victories and losses are severely felt, and every element the author introduces they clearly have plans for.
The characters are wonderfully written though the cast is relatively small. I enjoyed every single character, but I do believe that one is leaps and bounds above everyone else.
The author’s notes at the end of every chapter add some nice tidbits to the lore and character of the narrator. I have my theories, but I am looking forward to seeing more.
The story itself is very ambitious. T
