Description

Alex Hewitt is a regular college kid trying to enjoy his summer break. Turns out, life has other plans for him. After suffering the worst headache of his life, Alex finds out magic is real, his parents might be royalty, and there is a whole other world that exists parallel to Earth.

Alex will have to grow into his new powers as he learns to navigate the trials and tribulations of possessing magic, all the while not losing himself to the temptations of power.

This is the story of Alex, who mysteriously awakens his magical powers while on a mana-starved Earth, and then discovers there's a whole magical world, just waiting for him to come enter it.
The setup is interesting, and Alex is ok, if somewhat (ok, significantly) flawed. Unfortunately, this story suffers greatly from an excessive amount of info dumping, backed up by an overzealous use of adjectives.
At any rate, the story is meh, but not horrible. I had to quit after realizing I was skimming over 2/3 of each chapter just to get to the actual point. This story could benefit greatly from learning the "Show, Don't Tell" method of story writing.
