‘I need to keep going. It doesn’t matter how much it hurts, I need to keep going.’ Those are the only thoughts in my head as I ran, and ran I did.

I could hear the wolves behind me even through my heavy panting, but I didn’t care. The burning sensation in my chest from the running wasn’t the only reason why.

Looking down at the quite large white egg I clutched between my hands, I could feel the warmth emanating from it. Success right in my hands.

I feverishly grinned and kept running, freshly reinvigorated by my prize.

If I can’t have it, no one can.
