The world's greatest hero, Eclipse, has died. This has opened up a seat on the legendary meta team known as The Council of Heralds.No one knows how Eclipse died, not even Joel Allen,who accidentally witnessed it.Joel now has Eclipse's powers and is being coerced to compete in a year-long competition reality TV show to fill Eclipse's empty seat.

This "slice of life" story follows Joel as well as many of the other Top Seed competitors, including but not limited to Ken Kamei (on a mission to undo his family's corrupt legacy), The Bradley Twins (the children of a dishonored hero), Bailey Baker (an ambitious voice actor), Ashley Mills (a passionate environmentalist), and Bobby Keithson (a wise-ass bartender) who will all be competing alongside and against Joel to beat out 12 of The Council's hand picked All-Stars for the ultimate prize.

Im sure it will keep getting better and better and what I have read is great already hence 5 stars but I really do not like multiple povs especially when it can be up to 30. This is just personal preference though and despite that its a great novel to me so if youre into multiple povs then definitely read it

First off, love that there is a character named Borealis. Maybe the author(s) a fan of Golden Compass like me?
But I’m really liking this story because of the characters. You can tell that the author is new in that some of the inner voice is lacking. But the characterization is strong and having different character perspectives adds to the story in this case. It was something that I was skeptical about, but ended up flowing pretty well.
while the chapters are on the short side, the story advances quickly for a slice of life book. I enjoyed the personal quests as much as I have liked the different scenarios and challenges so far.
there could be more behind the scenes of the reality show, but there is enough to make me think more will come. I also think the hook of Eclipse’s death is super interesting but moving too slowly.
im giving this high marks because of it’s potential and the strength of the characters and their super powers. Some of the action is really vivid and fun, and the references to some things I love are nice Easter eggs. I hope the story starts to gel a little more, but I think if you like this sort of storytelling, this is a solid version.

I am really enjoying this book, and I think Ken is my favorite character so far. I am excited to read what happens next for Ken and the rest of the characters. Learning more about their parents is also a great addition. Understanding where each of them come from, their backgrounds, their powers, what they have been able to accomplish, and the intricacies of their relationships adds an additional layer of complexity and intrigue that I am enjoying. The twins are other characters that are quite layered and their family has some secrets that I am excited to learn more about. The more I think about all of the other characters that we have been getting to know, the more I find myself wondering what will happen next to each of them. It's fun having the story play out within a competition reality tv show which makes for some humor on top of some serious competitive battles between our characters. The author has struck a good balance of humor and tension, so there is some relief in between the intense parts of the story. I am impressed with the character development so far, and have been recommending this story to my friends and family.

I really dig the world and the characters, and I never thought of the concept of a reality show to choose the next superhero. Fun idea! I can't wait to see where the story goes and see how all the characters clash/interact. Really hoping for some reality show drama but with superpowers!!

The prologue is intriguing. I am looking forward to reading this book. I do like murder mysteries, so this book seems right up my alley. The Council of the Heralds launching a competition show to fill the seat of Eclipse sounds like there will be some action and adventure on top of this mystery to be solved. Sign me up!

I’m really enjoying this book, and look forward to the next chapters that drop. The characters are great. My husband got me into the Marvel movies and I have been reading a lot of superhero books. This book is one of the best.
The prologue is a little clunky but you see them fall into their rhythm around chapters 4 and 5. Highly recommend people check it out.
