The story is good with an attention to the interactions between characters  and has a good pacing. The idea of an accidental  summoned guy smarter than the summoned hero isn't particularly original but the idea to make the summoned extra an ex secret agent is interesting. I appreciate also the fact that from the beginning the actions of the summoners/Goddess are immediately suspect because this allows a faster development of the story without useless chapters dedicated to the discovery of something that is obvious to the reader.
The story is really good, pleasant to read and absolutely worth of your time but has In my opinion a weak point in the bio of the MC on Earth. A retired super agent of 22 years is really difficult to accept.  Also because the author doesn't try to create a story that justify this exploit. I am not speaking of a "realistic" justification (that is impossible) but a fantastic one that can make a sense in the context of a fantasy novel. By example in "Artemis Fowl" series we have a 12-years-old super genius, using the same trick in this novel we can have the MC  12-years-old hacker genius captured by the NSA breaking into a secret archive and forced to work for the agency.    This would give the protagonist 10 years to become the greatest secret agent.    In alternative the MC could be older and rejuvenated in the soul transfer.

Fun stuff. Came in expecting something totally different than Lily Beloved but competently written and i definitely got that. Capable Mc, tightly written, well played contrast between Mc and hero. Should be a great deal of fun moving forward so don't miss itLooking forward to the rest, and highly recommend others to read, and check out the light hearted slice of life Lily Beloved of the Gods if you're into seriously unserious fun and games at the expense of capitalism and just about everything else too.

The "Accidentally Summoned" trope is a well-trod storyline in many Isekai that want to subvert the traditional "Hero Summoning" story. Sometimes it is handled poorly, but sometimes, like here, it is done VERY well.
It hits all the highs. Truck-Kun? Check. Shady kingdom/church agenda? Check. Kill/Neuter the extra? Check. Daring escape? Also check. We CARE about Zack, and that's good. Makes you want to see what happens next. Even the Hero is done well, and is someone that we HOPE sees through the lies, because he is a genuinely good guy, and while he is a bit of a meathead, he is NOT stupid.
In short, the only complaint I have is that I ran out of chapters before I was ready to put it down.

Stumbling upon a narrative this remarkable is a rare treasure. It’s been ages since a new release grabbed my attention so thoroughly. Secret Agent In Another World offers a brilliant spin on the familiar portal fantasy setup, throwing Zack Adder—a highly capable covert operative—and Bradley, a high school athlete, into an unfamiliar realm. It’s immediately apparent that this is the work of a master craftsman, delivering a wholly original, meticulously woven tale that leaves exhausted clichés in the dust.
The Craftsmanship You can tell right away that the author knows their way around a narrative. The writing is incredibly vibrant and fluid, never dragging for a moment. Even the technical execution is flawless; the pristine formatting proves the writer's dedication to providing a polished reader experience.
Character Dynamics and Our Protagonist The true standout, however, is the character work. The interpersonal dynamics are incredibly compelling. Rather than relying on flat stereotypes, the author has populated this world with layered, genuine individuals who feel truly alive. I was hooked on their personal arcs from the very beginning.
Zack anchors the story perfectly as the lead. Instead of typical panic, we get the calculated perspective of a seasoned professional adapting to an alien environment. The author has clearly done their homework on espionage tactics, giving Zack an incredibly authentic edge. He’s sharp, courageous, and pragmatic, yet avoids being an unfeeling machine. Most importantly, he isn't perfect. He occasionally miscalculates, and the shock of his sudden displacement still bleeds through. His instinct to manipulate conversations, overreact strategically, and play the fool are brilliant, true-to-life survival mechanisms that keep him thoroughly grounded and relatable.
Worldbuilding and Atmosphere This phenomenal character development is framed by breathtaking worldbuilding. Right from the start, the remote frontier settlement is vividly realized

Coming to this story after just binging Meta Defying Smith, I'm excited to see where the author takes this story. I appreciate that Zack is a different type of protagonist from James and (I'm assuming) Lillie ( I WILL read that story too, I promise, and I really hope that neither he nor Brad get worn down too much in this new world. Unfortunately, it seems like the nobility on this world are just as predatory as on James'. I've gotten through the first two chapters so far, and am looking forward to getting caught up as quick as I can! Keep up the good work!

Though a slightly rough story, suffering from some patches that could use a bit more work, and some side characters who are dumb enough it hurts immersion..
Then the story steadily improves, along with the side cast.
Turning into, at the point of this review, a very slow burn isekai,
    with a decent system.

Not a number crunshing LitRPG (yet), but excellent characterisation and world building.
The common archetypes of Isekai are there, but not "just because" and definitely nor one-dimentional. All the characters have a reason to act like they do, with their own beliefs, roles in the party and the world, loyalties, ambitions, that all make sense and fit together. Even the barely seen characters feel real, and there was already enough snippets of the world at large to want to know more.
I greatly recommend you give it a try.

I tried to limit spoilers, but there are some for the first 10 chapters or so.When I saw the synopsis and title, I admit I had some misgivings. Royal Road is not exactly a gathering spot for espionage authors. To date most authors that tried to mix an 'external' genre with flavouring from genres found here, produced sub-standard work for their main genre. This is not one of those. I am happy to say that so far, the book makes me nostalgic for previous books I read, especially of older authors that focused on the characters and skills, rather than some of the more modern authors that play off current events and conspiracy theories, usually with some cataclysmic threat on the horizon. Yes, this novel does have that, but you can't have isekai DnD/sword and sorcery without it, so justified. The style of writing falls somewhere between Andy McNab and Adam Hall. Not the cold and technical approach of Hall's Quiller books, but the character is similarly focused on the objective and we are privy to his internal conversation when applying tradecraft. Like a number of McNab novels there character is 'retired' but still involved, trying to live a normal life.Which leads me to a gripe I have, with something introduced in the first chapter. The back story. This is a jaded operative that left the trade and is trying a new start. Not only that, he was supposedly one of the best in the business. Then we learn he is only 22. If he started while underaged, he still wouldn't have had enough of a career to make it make sense. And he wasn't, as he started as US Army intelligence. And he makes mistakes no veteran should make. Which is explained as him not having been a field operative... But initially we were given that impression. Now this last part might be by design, but the rest of the back story is clashing with the actual story. Maybe make it that he found an opportunity or a loophole, to enact an unforeseen early retirement? This story does a good job in the story itself of providin

The story start like a standard isekai : Protagonist die, met a god, is sent to another world to defeat the demon king. But we are not following the protagonist but Zack, a spy that has his own goals and abilities.
The style is classic, honestly not an expert. It's easy to read, easy to immerse in. It's mostly from the POV of Zack, with regular glances at other characters, making them easier to understand as nobody come tell to the character who they are and what are their goals and personnality.
Same for the grammar, nothing of note here.
The story is interesting, the character is a bit outside what we are used to, and at review time, we don't realy know where things are going. Zack is trying to survive in a new world, but also to learn about it. A lot of suspiscious things indicate that an intrigue / complot plot would take a large part of a story, but we are still in the establishement.
The world sound classic medieval fantasy with litrpg aspects, but some of the 'system' aspects are different (I didn't saw them elsewhere at least ), and it's not focused on number go up.
What is the strong  point of this novel for me is the characters. They feel quite real, with clear flaws and feeling. The 'hero' is brash and naive, but also has values and make coherent decision. Zack reaction are a bit weirder, but the whole spy character is always hard to clearly write, since he's the pov for most of the story we have a lot of inside though that make him a bit more easier to understand.
The secondary characters all have personnality, skills, goals. No character is one dimensional, we may not know them but we can guess some aspect based on their actions. The shape of what they says and do let us glance at them, and we can think the author had put though in who they are, even if the reader don't know yet.
The last few chapters introduced new characters, each telling the story of one person. These chapters are fantastic, as these side character are detailled with a level of detai
