Description

Kreig was summoned to the other world 130 years ago, the last 30 of which were spent in a constant, vengeful war against any army that would attempt to subjugate him. Once he returned, he found out that only 10 years had passed.

He was given the title ofWar of the Northbut he never even knew about it. After all, nobody could get close enough to tell it to him.

But that all changes one day when a portal opens, allowing Kreig and a small band of soldiers to enter one of many portals that leads to Earth. As it turns out these portals have been opening ever since he was summoned, giving the people of Earth abilities that the world he was summoned to only used to have. But now... now, he has returned. Longing for his former life of peace and understanding, he allows authorities to capture him on the spot, only to be faced with deeply personal questions, such as "who are you?" "what have you been doing for the past 10 years?" and "why is your level so high?"

...Have you ever read a story where the main guy who got isekai'd returns to Earth. Say, for example, FFF-class trashhero or the necromancer of Seoul station? Say, what if the authorities actually became aware what kind of monster had returned to Earth?

What if they actually tried to use them for something?

Kreig's been in the other world for 130 years, has experienced three great wars, and he isn't okay. Mentally speaking, that is. He's been imprisoned, gained and lost comrades, been betrayed... The whole lot. By now, all he wants is to put it all behind him, something the world doesn't seem to want to let him.

I don't normally do reviews, but this is hands down one the best books I have read on RRL. Absolutely worth a read. Not much else needs to be said. The rest on this is to meet the word requirements for a review. I am not an author, just trying to give a great book a nice review.

Really great story! I am so glad it showed up ob my recommended reading list! Love this depiction of the returning warrior finding support as they deal with their trauma and heal. I will say, I am both glad and sad that we didn't get more of the worldbuilding. Magic system based on mushrooms? Weird alternate fantasy history world? People who reach the peak of System powers and just don't give a crap about them? It sounds so interesting and it was hilarious to see them either bypassed, lampshaded, or seeing just a glimpse revealed but the scene itself being more interesting and only remembering that I got worldbuilding tidbits after the fact! This was a lot of fun to read, so thank you for sharing it and leaving it on RR even after publishing!

Its quite good, and csn really hold an emotional grip over the reader. That was the short of it.
    This is the long version
Hi author. Remember me? From Eldritch God? Yeah, you probably do. I remember you most certainly, so imagine my surprise when i saw a story of yours on top of trending. I decided that it was only fair to read it.
And wow, was it a read. Kreig truly reads like someone who has come from endless war, his innocence so fitting, yet startling, that its almost cute. Gap moe, i believe? He also acts quite submissively, unlike most 'I came back to earth super OP' stories, both prepared, and not prepared to deal death at every moment.
Am now writing more, on Christmas eve even! And, yes Palt. You have gotten better. Also, i dont see Kreigs naivety as a bad thing, since it seemed like you thought i did from your response. Hell, it makes sense for his actions towards otger people to be like that of a child. Thirty years without contact with a single soul does that to people.
Also, i truly like how the characters are portrayed in this story, having actual decency and pity instead of every single person with authority being an asshole towards the main character. Its refreshing.
I also appreciate having an actual person of faith as main character. Normally people try to avoid them either for fear of offending people, or because they're REALLY hard to write. Youve done pretty good though.
And, i also appreciate the MC having actual remnants of his humanity, instead of rushing into killing every person he finds, holding onto hope even after hes been disappointed so many times. He's like Samwise Gamgee in that way(Best character in LOTR 1v1 me in minecraft if you disagree). Always hopeful and optimistic, yet still keeping himself grounded in realism.
His siblings are also nicely portrayed, his brother seeming completely suspicious(As he should with how changed Kreig is!), while his sister clings to the chance that it is actually him. Its nice, and most of all, huma

While there are plenty of dramas that I've been somewhat invested in, rarely do I read ones that succeed in breaking through the calluses I've developed from interacting with mediocrity and leave me agonizing over the plight of their characters. These sorts of masterpieces usually leave me an emotional wreck, and I've dropped a couple due to how raw they left me.
With this story, Palt has managed to create a drama that reaches me, while only gently scraping away at my emotional core. I heartily recommend this to... anyone really. A veteran of such stories will feel right at home, and a beginner could not find a gentler introduction to having their heart gouged out.

This is just a comment on one part of the story that I feel like stands head, shoulders, torso, and feet above all others: the religion. So many stories write religion as this corrupted organization, a cult made to serve some evil being with no care for the lives of mortals. And in a way, that's a correct interpretation, one that's a lot easier to write than the other one. But this story accomplishes it. Kreig's faith of the White Roots is a cult. But to him, it's the centerpiece of his devotion, and the anchor holding his psyche together. This is the first time I've seen religion written as such a powerful force, and not just in the physical power it can wield. Instead of showcasing spells like the classic purification or healing, this story showcases {Shine of Divine Light}, a simple spell of prayer, taken to the maximum degree. The epitome of deliverance of faith, or unshaking loyalty to the White One and the Lord.
I love it. And not because of how it effortlessly tore through the entire prison complex (though that was epic), but because of it's simplicity and how it showed Kreig's devotion. By his words, {Shine of Divine Light} is an arguably useless spell with no offensive, defensive, or supportive capabilities to speak of. But Krieg leveled this spell to the maximum. Krieg, War of the North, mass murderer and engine of death, maxed out this harmless spell. Such a subtle and yet beautiful display of sheer devotion, especially when considering that anytime Krieg used this he would be telling all of his enemies where he was, something I doubt he liked. But still, Krieg's {Shine of Divine Light} is rank X. This is a beautiful showcase of the more divine side of religion, a standout piece from all the other stories that only tells of its mortal and physical side.
    Five stars.

I almost dismissed this story due to all the people saying it is boring when really, it is super interesting and actually quite fast paced. There is no filler in these chapters, and he isnt in prison for the entire story(maybe 100 pages) and in that time maybe half of it he is actually in his cell actually doing things.
Overall it's a very intersting story with a few angles I'm looking forward to learning more about. The mc is deeply flawed/damaged and the world building is quite complete. I don't really have any complaints tbh.

Honestly, this story might not be for everyone.
That beng said, it's a fantastic character driven narrative that explores both the strength and fragility of the human brain. The author has created a tragically broken main character wth depth and personality alongside a familiar yet mysterious earth. What stands out most to me is the realistic intelligence we see from the supporting characters despite the main character's skewed perspective.
If you're looking for wish fulfilment then this probably isn't thre story for you, but if you want uncomfortably human characters with a world and plot that are subtly fed to you bit by bit then I highly recommend giving this story a try.

This story was very different than most, inasmuch as it was mostly about the rehabilitation of a broken hero. But you find yourself rooting for him and those around him genuinely, and that is extremely difficult to accomplish. The spelling and grammar are well done too, unlike some stories on RR (which we love anyway).
Oh, and the story is COMPLETE which (to me at least) makes it approachable. Hats off to the author, as I enjoyed every chapter.

Some of the best characterization I've seen in a while for the main character. It tells its story at a human scale and it finishes. It works well. While other stories could be told in this universe, they aren't.
Don't expect anything grimdark going in. It isn't constant action, but it is very good.

I'll admit, the review title is a little excessive, but thats the feeling i have at this point. I read up to ch 26? and i kept getting choked up, while laughing at various shenanigans happening. Before i do a quick breakdown of my thoughts, i'll just say you should give this a try. It might not be everyones thing, but it is good.
    So, Pro's:
Character, capital C. The characters in this are living and breathing and could walk right off the screen as i read the interactions.
Humor. Its dry and sad in a wierd way, but somehow there is humor in this that tickled me several times, and not Craig. I would love to see Kraig at least flick Craig with a pinky or something non-lethal. Just once. Please?
World(s). Love the world building and how there really hasn't been any exposition in this. its a  great example of show don't tell.
    Cons:
Some grammar issues with incorrect words, or obvious spots that were supposed to be edited and weren't. few and far between, but jarring when they hit.
It has been said in another review i think, but i feel like the author is painting the government reaction and the way Kraig is being treated in way too rosy of a light. Its nice. And it allows the story to develope in the way it has. I just have to apply a healthy suspension of disbelief to buy it.
No other cons at this point. Keep up the good work! And i wish you and your family well with the Covid.
