[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
Meet Regis, your morally grey, know more than most(but surely not all of it) guy. After willingly ending up in another world that has no sunshine and rainbows left to hand out, Regis must keep his wits sharp and his bladestaff sharper if he wants to get out of the refugee filled and monster besieged port-city of Hunor. Follow his ragtag group of outlanders as they waddle through the tense situation brought on by the shortage of supplies and overabundance of enemies in the war-torn kingdonf of Ecragurne.
After a considerable amount of nagging by a few precious friends, I chose to share this (once complete and utter mess) book project with you as aparticipant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge.
As I am not a native English speaker or professional writer, you can expect a few grammar issues along the way despite my best efforts to clean up my writing. Hence, I wellcome any comments with the intent of helping me getting better (within reasons of course).

- demionRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I give it a 5/5!
It is my favourite story at the moment! Would love to have more chapters coming out!
Style score 5/5: The style is refreshing different! I am a fan of LitRPG and it is well-used here. Not too much system input but all the necessary one. No blue boxes, but they also wouldn't fit. The writing style enables you to envelope and immerse into the story. The story is not fast paced and gives you time to experience the world.
Story score 5/5: The are a lot of stories with being transported to another world. I like the idea and mechanics used here. Also really solid world building and a good amount of background information. Interesting and unique progression system for melee, ranged, magic and crafting. The story progression shows a solid structure. Looking forward to read the further progress!
Grammar score 5/5: So far it has been a smooth read, nothing negative noticed here.
Character score 5/5: The main character and all side characters are well fleshed out with their unique personalities, quirks and background stories. Also the antagonists (?) so far have some interesting background.
Conclusion:
Try it out, if you are looking for a good fantasy with solid world building! - Winged ThingRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This isn't your standard boilerplate Litrpg.
Stat ups, skills, traits and all those elements, and more exist in this story, but they don't overpower, and take over the story, instead enhancing the existing elements present, and simplifying stuff that would otherwise take up a fair whack of time. Shorthand, used well, I'd call it.
The story's a bit of a mix of elements, but they're tied together well, and work with one-another to create something original, honest, and engaging. I can't call this story perfect, it has some minor flaws in grammar here and there, and occasionally in logic (Blade staves are still a spear, really. Short-spear with a gem at the not pointy bit is still a short-spear) but honestly, none of that crud matters.
Look past those minor gripes, and you've got a story that's doing something on its own, its got charm, originality, and I can't say I've read anything quite like it before.
I've enjoyed the journey so far, and I think you will too. Give this gem a go, might be the only chance you get to see it before its cut, polished, and set : ] - Groggy MoeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0An overall approach that involved a system based around concepts, tiers and classes, but also involving a series of Abstracts like Celestial Constellations, books with something akin to Akashic Records, and highly customizable paths.
Also the most extensive Rune-based Crafting System I've ever seen here on Royal Road!
If you like LitRPGs but feel like there's nothing actually new and intriguing out there anymore, try this one for a change! Chances are you will be very pleasantly surprised!
One of my personal all-time favorites in terms of originality of content, but also depth/versatility of the system. Up there with Dragoneye Moons and Primal Hunter in that regard, but still a totally different writing style in all other aspects, making it worth a read without feeling like a rehash! - RigaPLRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0(non-english speaker)
-Story with smooth and steady pacing.Nothing feel rushed, everything feel natural (love it) .
-Autor respect and follow laws of the world he/she created(which I immensely like).
-There are some "info dump" in chapters but its more "necessary evil", then something written by accident(i wouldn't change this).
-Characters and interactions between them are believable and again feel natural.
-System and magic in story are complex and fluid, yet still obeying the laws of the world(which makes you want to know more about them) .
I cannot stress enough how natural characters and the pacing of the story are.
My only doubts are to whether the author will manage to maintain the level of the story. - th30dorRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Great story. I'm having a ton of fun exploring the world that the author built.
I'm also quite interested in the power progression in the world. Its familiar enough to be able to get into it easily, but has differentiation. Fells fresh.
The title hints to an interesting class for the MC, so I'm looking forward to more progress there.
Grammar is good. Dialogue is good. I had no troubles immersing myself into the story, so we'll done there. - SimyianRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I have enjoyed reading this book more than most others. It has many things going for it. I read the whole thing in a few days, eager to click the next chapter every time. The book never slowed down enough to not hold your attention.
Pros:
-Amazing progression/power system.
-Good world-building/lore.
-Great plot progression.
-Awesome prospects.
-Good dialogue.
Cons:
-Characters do not grow much.
(To be fair time has not progressed much in the novel thus far.)
-Characters get along too well. - GreenthumbRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I hate writing reviews but because of a supportive and appreciative author I guess I'm doing my third one.
This story has a slower style than many I've read but it is engaging none the less. It has a nice balance between crafting and combat. The combat is pretty typical the crafting has unusual aspects that include recycling items into components and combining elements and energy from dead opponents.
Because the pace is a little slower, I find reading it relaxing, but not so much that I let chapters build up unread. I usually read shortly after the author posts. I obviously enjoy the crafting aspects but there is enough combat that I don't think people uninterested in crafting would find the crafting oppressive.
At this point the author has also introduced plot points that suggest a direction for growth. I don't want to give spoilers though.
The author admits to not being a native English speaker and it shows but not excessively. There are occasionally misspelled words and odd grammatical constructions, but not so much that I could not understand what the author was trying to convey. They author is very accepting of edit suggestions, thankfully.👍
I find the characters relatable and pretty easy to get invested in. I have a little trouble keeping track of which characters are which but I think it's a personal foible- I have always been terrible at remember names😓.
Character interaction feels real and natural. Character motivation is clear and understandable.
Think that's it for my review. Thankfully the author is better at writing than I am. The reason I hate reviews is because I never feel like I'm doing the justice😔 - Discount_TacocatRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0This book is a very good depiction of a lot of fantasy settings. With one of the tags being grim dark, I expected there to be a lot more strife and struggle. They're definitely is a lot, but it's mostly wars starving and stuff like that. It starts to even out later on and get a little bit easier, but if you definitely want to read the start, it's definitely a gruesome war. The world building in the style of showing it. I really enjoy. The way that the system is handled and the progression I feel like is really good. I am very little problems with this book. There are some slight grammar errors and weird font changes and different colors of word at some point, but other than that I have found very little error. If you are looking for a lone wolf character, I do not recommend this book as a lot of it is group focused and then later on focuses on crafting. Definitely a lot of action and a lot of fighting with amazing progression. If you enjoy fantasy and let RPGs I would definitely recommend it. It's one of the better books I have read. I look forward to future updates and how the world grows.
- bobnbobbersRoyal Road★★★ 2.5There’s some good parts of this story. The world is interesting, as is the system and it’s magic. Unfortunately that interest quickly gets overshadowed by the many flaws.
Every antagonist is an idiot. They invariably present no real challenge, and generally are written as entirely shallow caricatures. This makes it really hard to care about what happens, because there aren’t any stakes.
Additionally the writing style is often confusing, especially during combat. There are countless sentences that don’t really make sense due to weird sentence structure and typos. The descriptions used quickly get repetitive, “the young spell weaver” or “Sophie chirped” being two incessantly repeating examples.
Book one is probably worth reading, but books two and three never really pay off. Maybe things get better in four and five, but I’m dropping out here. - RocksNPebblesRoyal Road★★ 2.0I didn’t get far with this one, the writing style is extremely obtuse and I couldn’t follow any of what was going on. The stranger did this, the youth did that, etc. with a bunch of descriptions and sudden action. I felt like I was 100 miles away from whatever was happening and couldn’t make sense of up or down or who or what was going on. Sudden violence, abrupt shifts, and no placement of people in the scene. It is odd, like the pieces are there, but they do not connect.
A description, an environment, an action, and some sort of context we don’t have are jumbled rather than connected. Maybe he had multiple personalities or voices in his head or around him? It is unclear and not a good hook, it is confusing rather than intriguing. Maybe a chapter or two about his life on earth fighting shadow creatures which appear for unknown reasons before he randomly portals himself to another world in a fight with ummm some people for some reason who want to murder him?
In media res drops like this are always confusing and needless, just start the story at the beginning or slightly before things went supernatural for him. Or at some other point with a clear idea of an impending recap…but no need for anime recaps in the first place. Does it add something to the story or just make it needlessly confusing? We have shadow monsters who drop coins and let him open a magic portal which he is already tired of dealing with and knows how to use…on earth? No idea. If this is a source of magic for him…why would he be annoyed with it rather than afraid or eager for more magic coins…why doesn’t he have any such coins on hand to help him do whatever he was doing whic led to him being chased by 3 people trying to kill him? Way to be unprepared…so he’s stupid and an insipid teenager annoyed at the very dangerous shadow supernatural creatures who drop magic coins on earth...I guess. I have no idea, but I don’t want to know more.
YMMV, but I was skimming in the first chapter and gave up in the se
