Description

Half a million soldiers—one mission—to kill the Death God. They called it ‘the Glorious Expedition’, sending an entire army to the portal to the underworld to save all of mankind, and it was a suicide mission. Marcus was a low-level [Scout] when he entered with his comrades, but after two decades of endless battle, Marcus, the last soldier of the expedition, now a max-level [Hell Ranger], killed the Death God alone. With nothing left to himself, except for his weapons, uniform, and the memories of the fallen, Marcus returns to his world, only to realize that the two decades he spent in the underworld have been the equivalent of four hundred years in his world. As expected though, killing the Death God isn’t going to be the end of mankind’s chaotic history, and he once again finds his peaceful retirement pushed back. Fortunately, as humanity’s strongest soldier, he might just have a chance to do another thorough cleanup of those who threaten his peace—one slash of his rapier at a time.

Its not a complex story, but I enjoy how it embraces the simplicity. It's not the next LOTM, but it's a fun read. Also, I really like how the mc both went full on murderhobo immediately (its fun seeing a problem that can be solved with violence, solved with violence) without feeling like just a murderhobo (read to at least the chapter im reviewing this from and you will hopefully see what i mean)

I can't express how much I adore novels that focus on character development. It's a popular theme that's usually not done well cause author also has to focus on the characters power growth and those around him managing inventory etc.
There's not much it that, what is there is tied DIRECTLY to the two main characters journey to become a better person. It's quite flawlessly done and almost had me tearing up at the when he opened up.
Give this a read, you won't regret it, it's masterfully written and I absolutely cannot wait for there to be more written. If this ever gets published officially as a book I'm buying the set immediately (provided this quality keeps up)
10/10 read definitely worth it. It ranks among my top 5 stories and I can't wait for more.

So our Overpowered Protagonist here has a slightly more interesting story than your average overpowered litrpg protagonist, though that isn't what's really interesting here, its the world building.
Most stories chasing numbers fail to treat characters like characters, our protagonist and  Miss Elf I will only mention as the third pov of note so far, with second being The Death God/ Demon lord equivalent, are deeper than a thimble so far.
I recommend giving it a shot, this feels like a slow burn type of story and we are still quite early on, but I see lots of potential for our survivors... err... I mean our two unlikely heroes.
Detergent, sushi, cults, and Adventure guilds are found here. Also are a bit of gore, depictions of cruelty/ slavery, and hints at darker elements.
Last part mentioned for those not wanting any darker themes, I see and appreciate you fluff enjoyers. This story is just dark enough I'd recommend those with issues regarding themes of death, gore, or erm... uh.. 🍇 without the g? That while mostly only touched upon lightly, the themes are there.
Thank you for another story to follow Author. I'll look forward to future chapters.

This is a very well written story that deserves more attention and appreciation than it gets, so please give it a try. Even when some of the tags aren't what you usually enjoy, it's surprisingly good and worth the time.
It begun quite normally, how you'd expect it to begin, with the characters introduced and basic worldbuilding. I noticed there was a very unique style to it, because sometimes, there would be a change in perspective. I love that, because it gives the story another layer, one where it's not just the main character, but also other people telling the story together. It works really well.
The story itself is well written, too. What I personally appreciate most is that it's not purely focused on fighting, there's a good mix of politics, romance and emotional challanges. That's rare in these stories, so thanks author!
Something else that I like about this is that the main character isn't the center of the universe. Yes, most of the test is written from his perspective, but we get changes too. Like, a lot is written focuing on Stella and what she thinks, some parts are from the antagonist's point of view and sometimes it's just some other random character. Thanks author!
As for the grammar, there was nothing to complain about. Sometimes, someone would close a door and I wasn't sure which one they'd just closed, but other than that, I didn't find any major mistakes.

Good story. MC is OP from beginning. Of course hes OP, he survived the suicide expedition.
    Anyway, the cons
The story use too much romance-ish Manga trope. Typical Damsel trope, sushi, romantically dense MC and FMC, hiding the skill trope....
Thankfully, its just the starting trope. Author use these trope as starting point and then expand it later in the story.
FMC isnt damsel anymore after several chapters in. MC isnt hiding his power to the point of absurdness like in some isekai mangas.
Plot wise, the Plot follow the synopsis quite good. What u read in the synopsis is what youd get in the first 5 chapters.
Theres some cool scene, some humorous scene.
    Overall, good story.

This novel has elements of many novels, anime, and manga, but the way it's constructed, how the characters are introduced and interact with each other, makes it fun to read. There are some moments where the story drags a bit, but overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the story.
I found it very interesting how Marcus isn't like most protagonists who are dense, don't realize what they feel, don't see the feelings of others. He's human, with problems and flaws, but he's working to change. It took a lot of strength and maturity for him to leave behind the soldier who survived hell. Not that he lost his strength or that he won't finish off his enemies, but now, killing is just one of the tools he has, not the only one he has and knows how to use.
I hope the story and characters continue to evolve in this way, with more dilemmas, encounters, and lessons.
    Success to the writer!

I've really liked the book so far.
It doesn't have me on the edge of my seat like some other books, but it doesn't have me stressed out - which I like - it also feels like it's going somewhere. I feel like there's a lot of books that feel kind of meaningless, like the MC goes around and punches exhibit A, then B, etc, etc. But with the interactions between the two main characters it feels a lot more interesting.
I also like Marcus' interest in detergent/soap, lol.
    Keep up the good work!

Worth checking out if you like the sound of the tag line, and dont mind trying out a developing author.
I'm enjoying the overall plot and concept, and find the world we've seen so far quite interesting. The story is quite readable, however the writing doesn't flow as smoothly as it could - at times reminiscent of watching an edgy/cool slideshow on 2x speed as it stutters through fun set pieces and concepts, hitting some enjoyable high notes while also stubmling over some unfrotunate patches.
The over-the-top characterisation of the Sin Archbishops is certainly entertaining.
Looking forward to seeing where it goes from here!

It's readable - which cannot be said about most things on RR and over half of the 'rising stars'.
It reads as a first draft of something promising but underdeveloped.
Here are some pointers that can be absolutely ignored.
First 3-5 chapters were very heavily at repeating the same ideas multiple times. Almost a quitting point.
Poor attribution. - usually it doesn't create issues, but some cases were quite annoying.
Action sequences need rewriting. They are rushed. E.g. mansion sequence was a big offender. Conceptually it was good, execution was rushed. A lot of things here feel rushed and bit clunky.
I don't expect high prose from a LitRPG light novel, I know what I am here for, but better descriptions are required.
    Characters are fine.
We get our not so edgy protagonist and a wanna be saitess character. Too early to tell.
Worldbuilding - it's a bit meh. Some things need explaining or showing, but it's a litrpg.
Simplest being - why 400 years passed and people speak exactly the same language. A massive miss not to give a protagonist a unique voice. All we get he didn't know 3-4 terms.
    Why is he
    18 years old
in the stats. A simple dialogue lines of "how do you look 20 when you are 400?" "That's a good question. I have no idea why, but none of us aged in the underworld."
We have a number of plot and world inconsistencies, but this is OPMC story, relatively it's fine.
I will update the review if something changes before chapter 20.

A pretty boilerplate shounen-anime style series. Nothing offensive, but there really isn’t anything to write home about, either. It is not particularly emotional nor tense, and if you’ve watched anime you’ll definitely recognize a LOT of tropes present within this novel. Read it if you need a time killer or tropes don’t grate on you.
