Description

Elliott Carpenter died once. He made sure that would never happen again. Over the next century, he became the most powerful being on Earth. But now, he wasn’t on Earth. The dimensional barrier around the planet was meant to be unbreakable. He knew – he'd been trying to break it. Yet, a mysterious summoner had yanked Elliott and his companions to another world. A world in crisis. A conquered kingdom. A hidden prince. A dying people. And whispers that the Devil King is reborn. With his trusted murder-maid Isabel, his adorable murder-doll Elsie, and a reluctant young mage who tried to kill him, Elliott sets out to find whoever summoned him. Along the way, they'll clear some dungeons, sprinkle in a little murder, and maybe conquer a country or three. On Earth, some called him a monster. Others called him a myth. This world was about to find out why. Uploading 3x a week - M/W/F Overpowered Murderhobo is only posted to Royal Road and if you find this story anywhere else, it has been stolen.

These days I spend most, if not all my free time reading on RR.
Stories and authors that truly catches my attention comes in many shapes and forms, but they all give me a feeling of going that extra mile in everything they do, to create a story people can truly emerse themselves in, get addicted to and fall in love with.
So, while this story is still young and I have not yet read any other stories by this author, it has managed to capture my attention by being really well written, having an interesting start and by revealing just enough about the characters to keep me hooked to learn more about their past and their journey going forward.
    Complaints?
Any chapter below 10k words is too short, I want the scroll marker to be a pixel in height and TTS taking 45-60 minutes per chapter at 1.5 times speed!
    Actual complaints?
Nah, it's still early in this story and other than "bigger chapter = more better", I have not really found anything I don't like.

If you clicked on this story expecting murderhobo, then don't worry, because you'll get murderhobo. It's so murderhobo that people are dead even before the first chapter lands. Although, can a genre of stereo-typically solitary killers really handle the triple threat that is Isabel, Elsie, and Elliot? Stay around to find out. 5/5.

Love it. Didnt notice the "filler" others are talking about.
I like Elliots way of thinking.
So far I believe the story is written well and will only get better.
I have always enjoyed the op mc books but it is hard to find ones that are written well. This on is written well.

At time of writing I'm fully caught up at 18 chapters in.
I wasn't sure what something executed with the tagline "murderhobo" right up front would be like - 50 chapters fighting level 1 crabs??? In this case, "murderhobo" translates to "an adventuring group with a cynical but perhaps realistic approach to mercilessly crushing enemies". Mercy and whimsy still strike occasionally, but the reader is genuinely left guessing as to when the next bout of ultra-violence will come.
The plot progresses at a steady pace. We're only 19 chapters in, so there's not really much to assess here, but all good signs so far.
The author manages to develop a distinct and memorable cast of characters within the first few chapters, hinting at intriguing backstories for all four of the main cast of charactersat. This is the strongest point of this fiction so far. IMO this is very important for the overpowered MC subgenre where "MC crushes opposition" gets stale quickly.
This is well executed from a technical writing perspective. You don't have to wade through grammatical errors or stilted dialogue.

Very fun to read. Always waiting on pins and needles for the next chapter to drop. Sometimes its fun to read about someone (or several) moving through the story on god mode. Really interested in where this is going. Would love to see more of the world that's being built, and expand on the cast of characters. There seems to be a lot of potential here.

While initially the title made me hesitate, I must say I am glad it was only hesitation, as It's good, better than expected, excellent in fact.
did not take many chapters to latch on to the story and start looking forward to next time I could sit down and enjoy this story, the characters and the world that is steadily being presented to us

It's a good overpowered main character story, with a main character who obviously earned their status (before the story began). Similar to Amelia or One Punch, in that I don't think the main character will ever be challenged in combat, so tension has to come from elsewhere.
The author is doing a great job with said tension. Multiple mysteries, both for the main character to solve and for the audience to solve. Amazing side characters that I already care about, and who have their own agency within the story.
    I'm excited for more!

Let's say I offered you two chicken pot pies. The first pie is exquisite with the perfect ratio of chicken, gravy, vegetables, and golden flakey crust. The second pie has the same amount of ingredients of the first pie, but it's twice as large because it has a bunch of rice filling it, so the flavor gets washed out.
This story is the second pot pie, and the filler is all the bland side character POV chapters that drag down the pacing. The plot suffers for it. If this story were a movie instead of a pie, 40% of it would be left on the cutting room floor by the editor to keep the pacing up. Do I need 3-4 chapters to establish that Rose is a bit of a clueless spoiled rich girl? Let me tell you, I really don't, I picked that up after one chapter. Example (spoiler that isn't a spoiler): the end of chapter 24 is just a minor antagonist POV standing around in a waiting room thinking about stuff that happened earlier in the story. NOBODY needs that shit. The story is full of this.
World building is just ok. There are hints of an interesting world that we never get to see because the author is writing about all these boring side characters who stand around thinking to themselves.
The plot so far is Elliot running side quests to help these boring side characters. The Elliot chapters do tend to be interesting, because he doesn't bog down thinking, but actually does stuff to move things forward. He's OP, so as soon as he shows up things go boom and then the story moves on to the next part. Like other OP characters in other stories, this can lead to problems like low tension and lack of character growth. As this story is so full of filler, those issues take a backseat to the lack of plot progression.
Honestly the side characters are desperately needed in these OP MC type stories, because of how hard it is to make an OP MC experience challenge and character growth, but these side characters are bogged down in this story by being utterly boring and lacking agency. It's still early
