- mahtheehaiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Story – I'll start out with the story first as I feel like this, along with its characters, is its strong suit. The story follows our MC Meera who at the start tumbles from one trouble into another, but she finds her feet quickly. Overall, I’m impressed with how the author flows the story from one arc to the next.
Characters – All the characters are fleshed out and feel different from each other. Even the minor side characters who only show up for a chapter or two feel real and have their own personalities. In the beginning, our MC feels a little naïve but stick with her, she comes into her own quickly.
Grammer – Grammer is mostly good. I found a few instances but nothing major that hindered my reading experience.
Style – The style of this book is easy to pick up. The scenes are well painted, and the author employs the use sight, sound and feel to draw the picture. It is easy to get in the head of the MC at times and understand what she is feeling.
Overall, I will definitely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for an Isekai/LitRPG with a hint of classical fantasy. - vaisehiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Story 5/5 The story is focused on our MC Meera who is on her quest to find her brother. Right from the get go we are introduced to the hurdles that the MC will have to jump through. Not to mention the prophecy which will makes the story intriguing, and you cannot wait to find out more about it. The plot moves at a swift pace, and no part seems drawn out. Overall, very well executed.
Character 5/5 The characters feel distinct, unique and complex. Our MC most of all feels like a real person. She makes mistakes, fumbles but perseveres in her quest. The side characters are also given this service, in that they feel distinct from each other.
Style 5/5 The best part about this book is that they draw you in and you want to read just one more chapter, as the writing style is easy to understand. The author also relies on show vs tell in some situations, which gives the sense that you are in the scene. Though, this can definitely be worked upon some more.
Grammar 4.5/5 There are some minor things here and there, but the author is quick to fix them.
Overall, I would recommend this story to anyone who enjoys an isekai story with a twist of classical fantasy. This one is not to be missed. - MrPinkRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Nice story, binged it one few days during comuutes. Biggest plus are the characters they are vibrant and non one dimensional. World feels unique and interesting for now even if MC only just barely scraped it's lore. Grammar is without noticeable issues. There were some (every few chapters or so) phrases/expressions/baheviorus that shaken a little bit my suspension of belief but nothing grand. But of course I have some issues here and there...
I do have concern about that whole artificial-world training thing that was going on a for a quite few chapters, I mean isn't that kinda leveling perpetuum mobile? Especially with revival and accelerated time option... I do not want to be nayseyer but I smell major plotholes regarding it. Especially as it wasn't established as unique ability of some ancient mentor, researcher or race/resource hungry ability/limited opportunity. I would also refrain from employing 'any wish granting' crystals and would always establish some rules to it as '5 skill slots' seem kinda underwhelming in the grand scheme of things. Personally I also do not like MC putting trust in random group of (then) strangers and now comrades in arms (Btw this relationship seems a little bit rushed for me or rather it's depth of trust and reliability, even if the whole thing was out of necessity) and uncovering all (or nearly all) of her secrets while she guarded them so fiercely before. And as we (and to some lesser degree MC) know she did not reveal them without a reason - encounter with mirror witch proves that. - LyptixRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Style: The writing style is engaging and captivates the reader's attention, drawing them into the world of the story. The descriptions are also vivid, allowing readers to visualize the scenes and settings effectively. However, in some instances, I found that some descriptions could be more concise and focused, as they occasionally become overly detailed, slowing down the pace of the narrative.
Story: The story is intriguing, blending elements of fantasy, prophecy, and mystery. I liked how the prophecy adds suspense and raises questions about the protagonist's brother and his role in the impending events. However, there are moments where the pacing feels uneven, with some sections moving too quickly while others linger too long on exposition.
Grammar: The grammar is generally good, with only a few minor errors or awkward phrasings. However, there are instances where sentence structures could be improved for clarity and conciseness as I had to re-read a couple of sentences to understand some parts. Some dialogue exchanges also feel slightly stilted or unnatural.
Characters: The characters are well-developed and distinct, with each having their own unique voice and motivations. The protagonist exhibits resilience and determination as she navigates the challenges presented by the prophecy. However, there are moments where her internal thoughts and emotions could be explored more deeply in my opinion. Silas and Cossus, provide humor and expertise creating a sense of comedy at times.
Overall, it was enjoyable to read this and I would suggest this to others especially if they love fantasy/isekai/LitRPG genres. - David GilesRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0If you're a fan of the isekai LitRPG genre you've effectively read this story already. It has all the classics with the major twist being the ability to steal skill. This isn't a complaint. It's well written, the protagonist's motivations are clear and the side characters aren't cardboard cutouts.
If you like fantasy, isekai or LitRPG you will like this. - kitsunecommuneRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Really love the plot of this story. I've been flying through the first 250 chapters over the past couple weeks. The main character is flawed but mostly likeable. There are several long term plot points setup that slowly come to fruition. I'm still expecting the divinations to be backwards and for our MC to be the real hero which makes a lot of the anxiety she has around her sacrifice feel a little weird but it's still entertaining
The entire story in general is pretty entertaining and the numbers go up which is always cool. The way they introduce a secondary system is also pretty novel. Characters seem to grow and change at a decent pace and there are even some good enemy-to-friend plotlines and vice versa.
The prose itself is littered with errors though to the point that some chapters make me consider dropping the story. I don't know if there's been a single chapter that didn't leave me mildly tempted to leave a comment fixing spellings, grammar, which their/there/etc is being used, and sometimes just full sentences or paragraphs that don't make sense. If you're patient though, it's still pretty fun to read through despite those complaints though - HollexRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5Style: The descriptions are quite detailed and vivid, resulting in a great immersion in the story and the environment. But the style has a weakness and that is the system (Yes, in a LitRPG story). Sometimes even with half a chapter of system notifications when the system doesn't affect too much in the story and can simply be summarized in: Numbers go up... The level goes up, the attributes go up and the level of the skills go up... but nothing important for the story, except when she acquires new skills.
My recommendation would be that the skills instead of leveling up, which does not really affect much, simply raise the percentage of affinity and simply indicate the ease of use, for example like this.
[Vampiric Chains - Level 1] --> [Vampiric Chains - 1%]
[Vampiric Chains - Level 32] --> [Vampiric Chains - 32%]
And when the affinity reaches 100%, the skill will increase in level with a new more powerful effect (having more than a simple damage increase in numbers) or the skill will evolve completely if some requirements are met.
[Vampiric Chains - 100%] --> [Vampiric Chains II - 1%]
[Vampiric Chains - 100%] --> [Purgatory Chains I - 1%]
NOTE: THIS DESCRIPTIONS ARE NOT FROM THE FICTION
Vampiric Chains II: Same description as Vampiric Chains I but now it can absorb mana as well.
Purgatory Chains I: Same description as Vampiric Chains I but if the target dies during the use of the skill it will absorb a skill of the user's choice.
Story: The story is quite immersive and exciting with a large and interesting world to explore alongside the protagonist. The only bad thing to mention is that there is clearly a plot armor that protects the protagonist and helps advance the story.
Grammar: Nothing to add here, quite good grammar and with few mistakes that are corrected.
Character: The protagonist starts out very naive, quite bewildered and overwhelmed by the new world she has traveled to and the introduction to the system, and I think the author has done an excellent job wi - PuttnnamehereRoyal Road★★★ 3.0I struggle to suspend my disbelief for naive characters, especially if they certifiably adults. The MC is painfully naive, she trusts everyone, she provides charitability to the worst people, and still gets taken advantage of. I would say this is misery porn...but maybe it's just constant edging. There's a big world that the author has alluded to, but we rarely see any of it in favor of the MCs quest to save(?) Her brother. It's not really to clear on what she actually wants to do, even when she discovers she is weaker than the weakest. The story begins with her struggling and in order to manage power creep by a constantly developing power copier, the author needs to raise the stakes whenever they can. This means that numbers go up, skills are copied, the character is making 'progress' I can't help but feel that she has gotten nowhere. The trail she is following is cold and it needs some author intervention in the story in hopes of her catching up.
To refer back to the title, the MCs character isn't for me. I truly believe that some people can't be redeemed, there comes a time where someone crosses a line, the only punishment I find acceptable is death. If you put someone in front of me and they torture, murder, and consume the soul of a random person; you cannot then say 'but wait they felt reaaaaally bad about it, and guess what this isn't the first time they've done it!' In fact because the author wants to have us empathize with this barbaric nation that is led by this warmongering leadership, see they weren't that bad, they were containing this devil, they are actually the heroes. Let's just...sweep all of the terrible things they've done. The ends justify the means. Except they don't. This guy or his ancestor before him was selfish, they wanted the strength(obviously) but the butchers bill is too much. Strangely no on has been working on permanently containing this demon, but I guess it's up to the MC to figure it out. I for one, can't do it. There's a story he - DigitalDave1136Royal Road★★ 2.0The mc is an utter moron and ruins basically the entire story.
She has a skill stealing ability but mostly drops and gain skills at random until around chapter 100 where someone told her she's being an utter moron with her skills and to make an actual build. (She does, but it's less about effectiveness, and more about "coolness of an assassin)
She has plot armor so large that it would stop a nuclear bomb, I think she has nearly died at least 50 times, and it's entirely because she's deciding to follow powerful individuals that may have a hint of her brother's location... 6 months ago (despite several times being warned not to go to them) or following a stupid sense of justice when it's obvious she's outmatched. In the case of powerful individuals, she's only alive due to some outside interference and also because of the whims of the individuals (mostly, I believe, because she's a useful pawn for worthless or false information)
Her search for her brother is going to take an entire year, because of how often she side tracks, and decides to go to powerful people that she's warned against instead of searching by rumors, her brother is famous enough to be known across the entire world, just ask some random villager where he may be and it's likely they would know. Because currently, her progress has her at the location he was 5-6 months ago, spending basically a month to do a task for the information and then staying longer because they went back on their deal.
She's horrible at keeping things secret or hidden, like half of the people she met ended up knowing she's the sister of the champion, I don't even know how she's not been hunted by bounty hunters or people with ill intentions, considering she's the champion's sister and she couldn't be doing a worse job of hiding it. At least her skill stealing class is more hidden, not that that's saying much considering she spills to anyone who she talks to for more than a single day.
The plot has several holes, the mirror affini
