The Travelers. People from earth reincarnated in the country of Aetheria, powerful and skilled users of the System who have arrived in this early modern world just in time to aid Aetheria against the many foes and threats facing them. They can and will transcend all powers of this world in order to make their adoptive home country safe.
This is not their story.
This is the story of the Scaverians, a people at war with the expansionist power of Aetheria and the otherworldly people known as the Travelers, their grand superweapon. Ever since they refused to stop supplying the Aethereans with weapons and tools for their conquest, the Aethereans have been dedicated to driving them underground.
Their deities and elder dragons are dead. Their last great fortress line has fallen. The only thing protecting them now is the gargantuan Malden river, and that they are considered an unimportant front by the Aethereians. Now, they have one final plan. A concerted blow with the remaining nations still fighting, targeting the one advantage the Aethereans have.
For one scrapped-together regiment of Scaverians, their target is five Travelers, relatively weak, inexperienced, and on leave in the rural town of Halice.
It is an operation few are expected to return from.

- LitrpgBirdRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The narrative is well laid out and draws you into the pages. I would finish reading, but the story really shows the horrors of war + magic. Definitely read if you like it, but don't ignore the gore warning (slightly graphic dead people in chap 8) Otherwise, very well written and interesting characters.
- DCatRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story simply advanced and everything followed. The world was built as war raged on, the characters kept on growing until they no longer could, and the world kept expanding as the war continued. Its only sad that the story ended so quickly, with an open-ending that leaves the future to imagination.
- DWWRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Possibly the best story I've found on RR.
Excellent pacing, super characters, great development and a smashing concept.
Amazing world building but come on, there have to be more stories set in this world!! Gutted it's only one book.
Read it you won't regret it. Visceral is probably the best word to describe the writing.
Thank you. More like this please. - ShadrosRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Excellent war story. It has magic in it, quite a lot, but it's really a story about war, camaraderie, sacrifice. With quite a lot of suspense thrown in to keep one on the edge of his seat till the story is over.
A rather dark story, but a very good and full of soul story. With a rather unexpectedly satisfying end.
I recommend it to anyone that likes war stories. Or suspense stories. Or, generally speaking, stories. - In Pursuit of FireRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Warning, this story is a short one. Which is probably for the best because it’s an intense one. It’s a story of characters trying to assassinate a group of targets to whom they might as well seem like ants.
The story begins with a war. A war mostly finished, and the Lizard people are losing. Facing off against an enemy nation is one thing, but facing off against the isekaied Travelers is whole ‘nother thing. Characters die, named and nameless alike.
The meaningful deaths are all one-sided,
And the reader is brought to despise the callousness by which the Travelers view the bodies they’re mowing through. The story does a good job of making them feel nearly invincible but only nearly.
And our cast of killers is here to exploit that nearly.
So if a bleak tone is one you’re up for stomaching, and you want to see likable people face off against truly daunting odds with no Deus Ex Machinas coming to help (because they’ve all been killed by Travelers), then this is the story for you. - K U W A B A R ARoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Here's a premise you don't see done often: A fantasy world war where one of the nations have a whole batch of isekai'd supersoldiers at their disposal to wreck havoc upon their enemies, even if that enemy has access to WW2-era weaponry and are lizard-like humans.
Generally, I'm not one big on litrpgs. But I appreciated the way the author managed to interweave it so well into the prose and all things considered it's a light system that doesn't take up too much space in the story or pacing but doesn't feel tacked on. It's almost minimalistic and there are cases where the characters themselves get annoyed and swipe away hud notifications occasionaly, often for grim effect.
This story is rather grim. It's not exatly grim dark but it does deal with some pretty serious themes when it comes to total war and makes you question who is right or wrong in conflict. War isn't exactly all it is cracked out to be, so the author does a great job portraying war for what it is really is (except with magic).
The magic system is cool but like the lore and the litrpg system itself, it's minimalistic, with only vague but still very interesting concepts I hoped would've been expanded on, but man... once you reach the final chapter, the story ends and it leaves you hungry for more. Over all, this story exceeded my expectations and I feel the author did great justice in portraying the various characers on either side of the conflict. - YourAverageJoeNextDoorRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Seeing the last ditch attempt of the scav was great as they use the opponents arrogance against them. Their foe might have nigh invincible abilities but one side is clearly more experienced than the other. After all, the man who has nothing to lose is the most dangerous.
My main feedback with this story is that it has too many characters and not enough time to flesh out all of them. Best example is Markov as he seemed so important and then nothing happened.
Still a 4.5/5 - MudkipperRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I hate LitRPGs. I find them poorly written, unrealistic and immersion breaking.
This is not one of those.
Imagine a world where the standard LitRPG progression occurs, where people are transported from our world to a magical, fantastical reality, with awesome powers and monsters to slay.
Then imagine more people are transported there, a small community forms, more monsters are slain, and the wilderness is tamed.
These are the Travelers, your average summoned chump, given powers beyond any conceivable moral or ethical justification and set loose into a world where the average denizen stands about as good a chance of scratching one of the buggers as a leaf has at mildly inconveniencing a hurricane.
Fortunately, your average poor chap has assault rifles.
And tanks
And enough artillery to recreate Verdun.
And the gun toting lizards are arguably the weakest power amongst a continent where deities exist.
So of course, the lizards get curb stomped, because its a LitRPG, and the average Traveler can take bullets by the dozen without flinching.
In essence, this is a book about how a WW2 military fares against your an average overpowered isekaid fantasy.
The answer turns out to be poorly.
TLDR Great read, pits poor lizards against a bunch of superheroes with a realistically grim tone and somehow does the impossible of making one root for the aliens - Doc MncRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I really enjoyed the premise and a lot of the execucition but there were two key issues for me. The first half of the story isn't particularly tightly connected to the second half. It establishes the antagonists well but didn't do so for individual protagonists.
Secondly it never quite carries through on the original premise. The endings still interesting but it wasn't what I'd been set up to expect, in a disappointing way. - A Would Be GodRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5"He’d take a blade to the throat over a lightning bolt through his entire body. A luxury of choice in this war."
Well... it shows how war looks like from the losing side, in a litRPG isekai fantasy hero story. It's rather depressing so fair warning to all sensetive souls.
