Description
Nyx was supposed to be a game character. Instead, she was summoned. While soloing a late-game boss inAsteroth Online, a freelance graphic designer finds herself pulled into another world, manifested not as a hero, but as her own level 198 VRMMORPG avatar: Nyx, a [High Demon] with power far beyond what this world should allow. Her summoners are not kings or archmages or cultists, but three noble girls armed with a forbidden grimoire. To protect them—and herself—Nyx agrees to a lie. Disguised as a minor noble student at the Royal Academy, Nyx just wants to keep her head down. Unfortunately, the Academy is a minefield of tropes. Between avoiding the Crown Prince’s sudden interest, dodging the Villainess schemes, and babysitting her summoners through dungeons they are woefully under-leveled for, Nyx realizes she’s trapped in a narrative web. She has the power to shatter the world, but using it would ruin her cover. Can she survive the "plot" without accidentally becoming the Demon King everyone fears? What to expect: - OP protagonist - Noble society, etiquette, and academy politics (heavily-otome plot!) -Very light on LitRPG elements

- 212perseusRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A OP goth-loli summoned in a slumber party ritual by reckless teens is somehow way more entertaining than I had thought. The story has a very promising and steady start as the world building establishes itself and the characters are interesting. The dry humor and sarcasm had me laughing out loud several times.
The story flows very well and the world building and information is given out in conversational tones that avoid info dumps and at the same time help establish the personalities of the characters. It can sometimes be a little hard to know who's talking, especially when you don't know the characters very well. However, over time they remain consistent with their personalities, making it easier to associate characters and their quirks. It also sets up potential world mechanics which, if true, will make the story much more interesting in the future.
There are some errors in the structure but nothing too bad such as a missing stat or incongruous phrase. The language and grammar are generally fine but occasionally I wonder if a particular phrase would fit in the given setting of a magical, medieval world. These are just minor issues and don't take away from the overall experience. The author has their own distinctive style that comes across clearly and is quite enjoyable.
Overall would recommend to anyone who likes snarky humor, magical academies and OP MC's with a realistic personality! - Goddessa39Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Normal human -> demon game character -> summoned by some teenage girls using forbidden school books has to now live behind false stories, be wary of cliche character development, and try to handle the actual really serious demon takeover secretly happening in the kingdom. also there's a seriously controlling roommate who frankly choked out the other roommate in a fight and I'm curious if there's more backstory there.
- GrayloreRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overall this Setting is well fleshed out, there are some good challenges for the MC, decent side characters and solid plot hooks. My main complaint early on is the MC has been reborn in a new setting with great power and an outside perspective... and she still acts too much like a carpet in social confrontations, even with her roommate. Though it does make it very satisfying when she finally snaps! Overall, this is promising.
- Jagger_johnsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So I clicked on Nyx the Demon Girl mostly because of the title honestly. Figured it would be some power fantasy where the main character wrecks everything and that's the whole point. Easy read. Nothing too deep.
I was so wrong.
Okay so this girl gets isekai'd but not as herself. She becomes her video game character. A level 198 High Demon named Nyx. Which means she's basically a walking nuke in a world that is not prepared for that.
But here's where it got me. She can't just go around being overpowered. Three noble girls summoned her using some sketchy forbidden book and now she has to pretend to be a normal student at this fancy academy. New identity. New name. Gotta curtsy and smile and not accidentally terrify everyone with her demon energy or whatever.
So instead of big flashy fights it's Nyx trying to navigate gossip and etiquette and noble politics while being fully aware she could end everyone in the room. That's so much more interesting to me? Like the tension isn't will she win. It's will she slip up. Will someone figure her out.
There's some dungeon stuff too and the world has this gothic demon war history thing going on. But honestly I'm just here to watch an overpowered demon pretend to be a polite schoolgirl and slowly lose her mind about it.
Ten out of ten concept honestly. - PutleRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Never wrote anything for my reviews but felt like doing it here.
TL;DR? It’s fun. Easy to read. Nyx is put in a position where she’ll be forced to learn and grow and play The Game. (Or find out how to circumvent it.)
Spoilers, I guess?
Our main character gets brought into a world she knows nothing about while slumming it in a game that’s her only escape from a mundane and repetitive existence.
She’s in the body of her avatar, her baby, something she spent a long time ensuring was just right. The problem? She’s a demon. Not exactly doing her favors when half a century prior they were at war.
Luckily, she’s summoned by three (irresponsible, sympathetic) teens. The only ones in the story so far who seem to have some outward discontent for the noble games. They concoct a plan to hide her and enroll her into the same academy as themselves.
(one that surely nothing will go wrong with)
She’s taught the basics of how to act and begrudgingly goes along with it. She fits in well enough with the dry humor the trio has, making her first friends.
Nyx is largely apathetic. She doesn’t care much, simply wants to go about her new life. When she does show interest it’s in excited rambles or hasty decisions.
Things understandably go wrong about as soon as she gets to the academy. She’s unaware of what level of strength is normal, too old to be truly burdened by petty bullies, and apparently the successor to a demonic faction.
She decides she’s somehow been placed as an antagonist or side character in a greater narrative plot where she isn’t the protagonist. First glance might seem strange, but she’s been sucked into a world with a status screen. Pop culture dictates SOMETHING is going on.
As of chapter 23, she’s finding her feet. She’s made a number of missteps, managed to escalate petty discrimination to the point of owning an assassins head, and accidentally recruited a saintess into a rebellion she wished didn’t exist.
Both Nyx and the reader have a lot of unanswered questions at - GivesWormholeHurricaneHeadRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Nyx is a fun character. Pre-isekai, she's a neurotic downtrodden graphic designer who spends her free time playing a vrmmorpg. Post-isekai, she is a neurotic downtrodden graphic designer in a new body that's packed with overwhelming jaw-dropping cataclismic power that puts her near the top of the new worlds heiarchy; Strong in body, remains a sad woman in spirit. Her new powers come with complications, political complications. Power is a big deal. Being a walking nuke is a big deal. She doesn't want to deal with it though. So she tries to brute force being passive. It doesn't work well and pressure begins to mount. The rest of the characters are pretty good. They all have distinctive archetypes, but their qualities are expressed through enough different interations that they feel organic and not flat. The banter can feel repetitive at some points, especially with playful arguments over semantics (I.e., You're a prick! > I am principled. > The two aren't mutually exclusive!). It doesn't last too long though and is a relatively minor point as the story is otherwise well paced and intriguing.I don't have much to say about the world building. It's perfectly good for what is a character driven story. It is internally consistent, self aware, and adheres to the otome theme while injecting enough complexity to feel novel and engaging.I don't feel confident criticizing the prose, but I haven't had anything bug me while reading. It isn't fluffy, it is smooth. Nuff said.
- Dynastium aeternumRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Sweet plot. Sweet storyline. The world buildup is fine. The characters are well developed and it leaves one with enough suspense. I love the story. However, I can only lament to he lack of a romantic subplot, it feels like the only thing the story lacks. Though the bonds are well defined and all, that one aspect makes it seem like the story lacks something. It's a good read. Definitely a nice one to binge on with snacks.
- GucciBadgerRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I like the setup and direction of the story so far, however I feel like the current plot progression is going too fast. I feel like we the audience haven’t had enough time to establish and understand the characters and that some of the pains of this story are going to get worse. It feels like some plot threads are being set up but as the characterization of each person in the story develops there won’t be room in the narrative for the subplots to be satisfactorily delivered on.
- SerotoninBoostRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5Spoilers after style comments.TL;DR: Major plot holes, a strange style in three way dialogue, and a main character who feels inconsistent. She reacts with complete inaction to some major events, yet takes extreme action in others, which really grates on my sensibilities.Like tear out my hair why aren't you doing anything fool and what the heck just happened why did you do that? Did I miss something? *goes back to reread*About the style, I noticed they keep repeating certain sentences like “those things are mutual” and similar phrases. It bothered me at first, but then I realized it is probably meant to be an inside joke. Because of the medium, moments that might have been expressed with a smirk or subtle expression in real life just come across as repeated lines. A lot.Dialogue between three or more characters often follows the same pattern over and over again. Maybe not with that exact sentence, but once you notice it, it is hard to ignore. One character says something about a topic, another comments on the same topic differently, and then a third comments on both statements with something like “those are mutual,” “yeah, I agree,” or something similar.I understand that this is how conversations work, but as I said, the short and blunt delivery does not translate well in this medium, at least not for me. Humans use facial expressions, tone, pauses, and timing. There are comedic pauses and awkward silences. The curt one liners feel strange, especially when they are repetitive. Humans make mistakes. Some replies are awkward or imperfect. Not every three way conversation needs input from every person at every turn.Spoilers:Now for the major plot holes. First, nobody seems to care about summoning an extremely powerful sentient demon from another dimension. Everyone is far too casual about it. Someone in another review said the main character is immature for not reacting properly after spending a week crafting her, and I agree.Second, the maids forged the student card, w
- HaraxiRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5I absolutely love the story, the loyalty between the characters, the fun personalities, the light overall... The side characters are well defined and loveable, you'll find different and independent girls, smart and strong. The fantasy world description is immersive, it keeps us excited for new settings. The Sorority is precious, we can really feel the bond created between the characters. Of course the genre is usual, yes, but the story is so refreshing!
I'm also not a fan of too graphic, action focused stories, I was pleased with the first few fighting scenes, way more into strategic and inner dialog than simply power attacks.
I love it... But it has become a bit hard to read. There is a lot of repetitive words and repetitive dialogs. The comedy effects are redundants... It takes away from -again- an amazing story.
The main character's backstory is pretty blurry, alternating between one version then another... it is hard to follow as a reader and it feels like the other characters are not picking up on it either, which is very confusing.
The time line also seems a bit complicated, especially the before the arrival of the main character in their new world.
I will keep reading this rough little gem, hoping it will become shaped just as nicely as it's story is!
