Description
For six years, Officer Elias Stormson’s world has been defined by burnt coffee, bad paperwork, and the daily grind of human stupidity. Then a routine welfare check turns into a massacre. A twelve-foot, bulletproof lizard. A wound in reality. And a glowing blue screen congratulating him on his First Kill. The System has arrived. As civilization collapses and monsters pour into the streets, Elias is forced to adapt fast. He isn’t a gamer or a chosen hero. He’s a cop with a service pistol, a partner he refuses to abandon, and a growing set of impossible abilities that turn survival into a brutal numbers game. When the law dies, the System takes its place. Armed with his training, a magical sword from a reward box, and a relentless sense of duty, Elias must learn to fight smarter, hit harder, and level up—or watch his city fall. In an apocalypse ruled by monsters and stats, his beat is the end of the world. And he’s still on the clock. ⭐Support the Story & Read Ahead If you’re enjoyingNew Disaster, you can read10–25 chapters ahead, get bonus scenes, stat sheets, monster files, and more here: https://patreon.com/NewDisaster911 https://discord.gg/8q4vYEGsn

What readers say about New Disaster
“Very interesting read with a lot of great detail. Can’t wait to see how this will play out for our main characters, as for the question at the last chapter I would say that the lock also requires a 4 digit code that only I know to try and separate them.”

- Jonathan TaylorRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Amazing read so far, I find that the way the story is written and the perspective taken makes the book very immersive. Very easy to like and root for the characters which I think will lead to some great story progession as well as some really good characters arcs. The description reminds and world building reminds me alot of the dark tower series by Stephen King. I can't wait to see where this one will go, definitely gonna follow this to the end.
Love it! - KodiakWildRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Very captivating and well written. Lots of action. To keep you on the edge. Easy to follow and allows you to become immersed into the story. Would highly recommend and looking forward to more. It didn’t take me long to get through all 13 chapters and I was sad that it was over.
- Mustang556Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Super engaging read! I felt like the story came alive as I flew through the pages. Credit to the author for their action writing, there were some parts where I felt like I was holding my breath. Highly recommend to any fan of LitRPG works. I can't wait for more!
- ValknarRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have read a lot of litrpg over the years, and this is the first from the viewpoint of a cop.
Elias is a man doing a job at first to protect his community, but as the story unfolds, he must continue doing so on the day the monsters come. He is no hero of legend, but a man doing his best with what he knows. He must make choices as the world goes mad around him.
The supporting characters are good and fleshed out, each with their own roles and goals. His partner is the most fleshed out, but future chapters can be built on as the story progresses. It will be interesting to see how they react to his growing power through his levels and how this impacts his future relationships.
The chapters flow easily, and the action makes sense as the chapter goes on. The levelling and skills are understandable and explained where needed. Elias is levelling at a realistic speed with no signs of the MC becoming an overpowered juggernaut.
I have two minor complaints that do not take away from the author's work. First, a few of the chapters are very short, which I find annoying. The second is that there are a few formatting issues throughout the story that can easily be addressed.
I am looking forward to the upcoming chapters. - XeavnRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I think this could be a really good book / story when finished. Some of the early chapters are a little rough or a little short. Some small spelling and grammar mistakes, but I think the author and the story are both improving as it continues. I look forward to reading more, and will keep reading. Give it a try if it sounds interesting.
- wathmanRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5I like the strong start and fresh take on a system apocalypse story. Police officers who step up to the crisis instead of becoming just another indicator of societal collapse is refreshing. Character development is a bit stunted initially, but the action is engaging enough to keep readers interested until back stories are filled in.
The story would be more compelling if it leaned more into the cops protecting people and restoring order in a world gone off the rails. The mission to go to the dungeon and stop an immediate threat releasing more monsters to the area started out fine, but drags out way too long. It’s about 40 chapters of content that is straight up dungeon crawling and really not that different from the hundreds of other dungeon diving books out there. Finishing up the dungeon arc within a quarter of that length would keep things from becoming a drag.
Otherwise, the story has a lot going for it and hope it continues to focus on where the author is offering a fresh perspective and narrative. - a_human_playerRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5My main rule is does it hold my attention, and sadly I ended up skipping large portions of paragraphs and could still keep up with the main story. It feels like the detail is there, but sometimes it fills a page but has zero substance. One of the biggest problems is the constant dungeon grind, zero down time. I felt overwhelmed, and exhausted myself. If I have to put a novel down because of overbearing content, I will put it away usually forever.
I think that the Protagonist is great. The characters not so much, especially Kira, what a let down. Her only lines are the same monotonous one liners about the Protagonists key trait of hurting himself. Literally that's all she has said. Flesh her out, if she is a key interest why do we only see the same quip.
The chief, he has a great character model. But some of the emotions between him and the Protagonist feel pushed. I.E the dialog where he calls him "son", like why? How? Ok weird, or is there more there? And again why does he have better dialog then the partner Kira?
That said the story is good, especially early on. It made me feel unnerved, agitated, and angry; eliciting emotions are hard to do and I congratulate you. It's easy to pull happiness, and laughter, but to stir deeper is worthy. Also I really did feel like the Protagonist is a good man, to my core, which is ironic because I find myself more attached to anti-hero's.
TLDR : Kira feels underwhelming and one dimensional, the dungeon timeline 24 hour thing is overbearing, Protagonist is amazing and developed.
So the 3.5 out of 5, sorry not sorry to be the first that is critical, but I hope this helps and isn't empty criticism. Honestly. - 01LigarkyRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5The story started out quite well with good characters, realistic actions & internal dialogue, a believable set up and problems, but sadly didn't keep it up.
The first ten chapters were good, and had me excited for the rest of the story. Unfortunately, as we progressed the writing slowly deteriorated.
Continuity & editing was part of it - switching between one and two weapons, characters repeating the same or very similar actions two or three times, and other things...
Washing off monster blood and then mentions sitting on the curb covered in monster blood.
Sometimes dialogue gets very back & forth - no action in between, just people talking. Some characters are fairly 2 dimensional - no background, and fall into a routine of predictable actions and comments which makes them seem without much substance.
There are also mentions of actions having happened which aren't covered in the story - they seem to have just somehow happened in the background. And some of these happenings are fairly important for the story as well, as they drive the characters actions and plans.
TLDR;
The story is an interesting premise, and the beginning was good. To me it feels like the author has some bad days where the writing just isn't up to scratch. May be OK for some readers, but breaks the immersion too much for myself sorry.
