Description
What’s left when it all falls apart? Where do I go when the path forward is blocked? How do people just move on like nothing ever happened? A change in location certainly helped me. Bastion, the last hope of civilization. It's bright. It’s flashy. It’s dangerous. There was nowhere else in the world, or any world, like it. With heroic Wardens protecting the city from monsters, rifts, and villainous Anarchs, there’s always something happening within the walls of Bastion. Not to mention the corporations bickering like children even during the end-times. The existential threats that sought the destruction of the last city were just another Tuesday. The Wardens, with their system-granted powers, kept them in the back of people’s minds. Forged from broken myths, shattered stars, and fractured hope, they're the only thing between the city and total devastation. They were just out of reach for me. Theywere.Until the OS picked a wayward Stray who happened to be in the right place at the right time. One rift, job, and monster at a time, I’d claw my way back to the top... just as soon as I found the drive to actually get out there. Picking up the pieces was just too tiring. — — — This is going to be quite a long story. If you like superheroes vs villains, cyberpunk, and system progression, then you might like Myth//OS? - sylke atreidesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0One of my favourite stories on all of royal road.
I am a suckered for cyberpunk as a genre and really enjoyed lost rain's other cyberpunk story Outrun so I want into this with high hopes and it delivered Im really enjoying the premise the world building mix of superhero and cyberpunk as well as the take on immortal main character that while competent doesn't know everything and has a valid reason to be at their current power level.
Overall 10/10 love the story keep it up - DatateqRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Outrun is one of my favorites on RR, so I thought I would give this a chance and I was not disappointed. It has a very different feel to it, but the world building is as fantastic as I have come to expect from Lost Rain. The MC is intriguing and I am looking forward to their background revealing itself over time. I am already hooked on the plot and looking forward to seeing what happens next. I don’t often start fics with little released because I like to stay immersed in a story, but I have no regrets and will likely read each chapter as it’s released. If anything about the summary intrigues you, do yourself a favor and jump in. If you haven’t read Outrun, read that too!
- golden7Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I’m a big fan of Outrun (read it as well!), and this story also captures the cyber punk theme in a really interesting way, with a rich world and system, good pacing, character development and grammar. I’m really picky in the stories I’ll read, and am enjoying this one just as much as Outrun. The author has done a great job of developing Nyx while drawing me in with questions I want answers to! Can’t wait to see where this goes. Keep up the great work!
- lazarus22Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I really enjoy the system type power system combined with the cyberpunk setting! Nyx is also a very interesting character to follow, I am excited on learning more about her backstory. I am keen on seeing where this story goes in the future!
P.S. I love Ebonshroud is such a cool ability to see in action - shaeenRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I love outrun but i honestly like this one better it’s clear the author has become better compared to the start of outrun. It’s funny and a really good idea of setting and the mc is really mysterious and interesting and much more but broski please I’ve waited 20 since the last chapter bro please give me some like I don’t understand the schedule. You’ve always been very on time for outrun it’s one of the great joy of life, please do the same

cordialement - Broccoli916Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Such a great read with fantastic character development. You can tell the author really cares about their world and those within it. It’s always nice when a world feels alive and they keep it watered well. I was fortunate enough to be able to read ahead because it’s on their patreon and I really think it’s worth it. Once you start you won’t want to stop.
- JosephWRRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Early days so far of course, but I'm enjoying this so far. I wasn't quite sure how this book was going to be different from Outrun when it was first mentioned, but I'm pleasantly surprised so far.
Obviously there's a lot of world building still to do, but I'm sure that will come. - KosmizianRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So far, looking great. Early on, but the author nails the style and already has good experience with cyberpunk. There's powers and skills, and i have no doubt the worldbuilding will be great., were already getting good hints at it so early. If you like superpowers, cyberpunk, skills, and more, this will probably be a great read.
- Lt. TheynaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Lost Rain hits it out of the park again. No idea how they drop such bangers everytime, but I’ve love everything they’ve done… except the first two books, but we don’t talk about those. Myth//OS is a perfect blend of OP protagonist, progression, rifts, cyberpunk, and isekai. Crazy weird combo of genres that usually wouldn’t interest me, but LR pulls it all together into one cohesive story with one of my all time favorite protagonists, Aylin Io.
Style:
I’ve had the great pleasure of watching LR grow from a newbie author to a talented one. I love their style and how they build the scene. I can vividly see it every single time, and it keeps me hungry for more. In particular, I love the way LR goes about lore dumps—IE there aren’t any. We don’t get a neat summary of how the world works, but instead immersivly learn the world as we’re going through it. And from what I’ve read, it’s a deep world with so much more to dig into.
Grammar:
There’s a few hiccups here and there. Nothing that would deduct a star, or drag me out of the story, but they’re present if you look for them. It’s usually just a word here or there misspelled.
Story:
Like I said earlier, it’s an insane mix of genres that pulls together perfectly into a world and story that feel lived in. Every scene builds upon the ones before it, and draw you deeper down the rabbit hole. If you’ve read Outrun, then you know just how good LR is about feeding bread crumbs until you fly through every chapter with out even realizing how much time has passed.
Character:
By far the best part of Myth//OS. I liked LR’s other book, but damn did it lack solid characters. Here, though? That’s not an issue. We’ve got everything from telekinetic cats to superhero and villains. And that isn’t even getting into the star of the show—Aylin. Our protagonist. I don’t want to get into it much since learning about her is half the fun, but she somehow manages to pull a laugh out of me every chapter with her wild antics. Lost Rain really knocked - MyDarknessRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Imagine a story mixture of ……. Cyberpunk/Godclades/Outrun and any top portal fantasy wrapped around one of the most likable and enduring MCs that you could meet that was being livestream to multiple universes and that’s the short version of this story. It’s really really good , very much worth reading.
