-----

Jill MacLeod might be just a long haul trucker with a dirty mouth and back pain, but with Bertha the big rig under her she always makes her deliveries. When Mana, monsters, and an RPG style levelling system comes to Earth it's the end of the world as anyone knows it: the apocalypse is here. On her journey it's just Jill, her Soulbound truck, and any survivor she can find against the universe. Mutated animals, aliens, dragons, droid armies… it doesn’t matter. Nothing’s going to stop Jill from making her way home.

Blare the Horns of Valhalla and let slip the Rigs of War!

[A story in the apocalyptic LitRPG genre]

  • Great start to a story with a set up I had not seen done this way before. "The System" comes to Earth. But unlike other stories like this. The writer has the MC make her Simi truck her soulbound weapon. Here is a story I hope to be reading for years to come.

I just finished a 22 page paper on zero emmison semi trucks and I honestly think this story was made for written for me as form of congratulations. Though Bertha is currently over the legal weight limit for semi trucks i can forgive any indescretion as long as i get more chapters. 5 Horn blasts out of 5, would shoot at giant boas with Jill again.

There's just something refreshing about a semitruck, mobile fortress apocalypse type story. Ok, so you run things over, 'how much more is there to mine from this concept?' you might think. Turns out,  a lot.
Characters and action are a strong point, as well as pacing. The monsters are ok but not amazing. Grammar and plot are good, although at this point the big picture hasn't gone much beyond survive day to day.
One stand out part of the world building is how certain elements of tech like [obviously] a semi truck, guns, a howitzer stay incorporated into the story. There is a partial tech reset, but not forcing everyone into sticks and rocks or immediately invalidating presystem tech like some system stories do. Magical tech and character builds continue to intersect, and to me that makes for a richer world.

A very enjoyable read with diverse characters and excellent pacing of plot without being bogged down with overly technical explanations of the system and stats.
Very much looking forward to more and eagerly awaiting further releases.
ten out of ten this book is cemented on my to reread list and will be form some time to come.

One of my favorites on here, this is a great concept executed with fun!  What if the apocalyptic system met a female truck driver who has all the rough edges that concept suggests.  Absolute chaos backed by a mouth that will make a sailor blush.  S son as I finish a chapter, I can’t wait for the next one.

Just wanted to say this is a great ride and worth the read! I barely gave it a chance thinking it was a lame premise but I was very happy to be proved wrong! I only wish there were more chapters available to continue even if behind a Patreon pay wall.

So far it's good, better than most of the System Apocalypse's I've read, still early but this one promises to rise to the top of the rankings. I'll probably update to an advanced review once there's more to go on but so far I would definitely recommend giving it a try, read the first chapter and see if you like it.

Bertha is an amazing girl. She's strong, she's fast, she's tough, and her voice, oh sweet lordy lord.
Sure she's not the prettiest girl on the block, but she's as dependable as Lil Wayne is to rap lyrics nobody can fucking understand. In other words, extremely dependable.
When you've got a huge ass package to deliver? Bertha is who you want in your corner. When you're up shit creek without a paddle? Bertha is who you want in your corner. When the motherfrickin system apocalypse descends upon earth? Bertha is who you want in your corner.
She's the absolute best motherfucking truck on the face of the planet, and I love her to death.

This is an enjoyable start to a System Apocalypse.
Jill has absolutely no idea what's going on, which is a nice change. It's clear who she is and what she's interested in - without having the action be weighed down by it.
Pay attention to the Profanity tag. Jill has a creatively foul mouth, and a System Apocalypse is a perfect time to let the expletives fly.
