- Andra BelladonnaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0"My Valkyrie" does very well what it sets out to do: it's a novel full of humor and irony that flows with ease and catapults you into a story somewhere between the absurd and the epic. The characters have good characterizations, each with their own quirks, and together they manage to create some really funny moments. There's no shortage of fight scenes and such, but the story never loses its spirit.
Here and there there are some heavier themes, mainly related to Maya's disorder (I won't go into details to avoid spoilers). It's mainly the biggest wall the ship has to get around, although the occasional undead are no joke anyway. It is treated with seriousness despite the generally lighter tone of the story.
There are plenty of twists and turns, and before you know it, you keep reading because you want to know more about what's going on.
Also, my gay ass is always happy to read about Val and Maya ahah.
