BOOK 1 OF ELDRITCH BESTIE IS NOW ON AMAZON KINDLE UNLIMITED. You can read it here!

Good things come to those who wait. Damien Vale didn't, and now he's bound to an Eldritch creature from beyond the farthest reaches of the universe. It's unfathomable, utterly evil, and likes to be called Henry. To Damien, none of that mattered. He was going to learn magic, and he'd be damned if he let something as small as this set him back.

When Damien started his first year at a mage college, he didn't expect it to be easy. However, when he's assigned to room with a strange girl that has magic that even Henry is wary of, Damien realizes things might not be so easy. He sets out to accomplish his life goal of becoming a powerful mage, all the while dealing with a murderous professor, an eldritch creature that's created a persona to act like a teenager, and a new roomate that's far more perceptive than he'd like.

As Damien struggles to deal with the ramifications of the monster within him, a disturbing fact comes to life: Henry might not be the only eldritch creature on the mortal plane, and he's the only one that can stop them.

NOTE: This story is  progression fantasy with some very basic litRPG elements (such as a wristband that shows a character's stats). It isnota full on litRPG - it's a progression fantasy story with litRPG elements. The story will contain some romance, but it will not be explicit nor will it take over the story. It starts off slow, but will pick up speed quickly around chapter 26. Enjoy!

My Best Friend is an Eldritch Horror was origonally started as a way to thank my patreons. I will be keeping the patreon updated 15 chapters in advance. Enjoy!

I absolutely love it. This story alone encouraged me to join the site. There isn't much to go off at the moment but the magic aspect is captivating enough to make me want more right now. Giving It Who Heralds The End of All Light a teenage-ish mindset to accomodate Damien's thoughts is a great idea but could be toned down a bit. Once again a great story and highly recommend it!
To the author: Amazing job. Can't wait for 38!

Really loved this. Such a fast paced read yet have good depth of characters and plot to make everything and everyone feel real. I honestly didn't see the end coming which was a pleasant surprise. All ARCs nearly tied up and all characters have closure. I could do with 5 more books in this universe.

    10/10 recommendation.
Reading this book gives you that content feeling after stretching.
This was a really nice binge. I don't think any story I've read have been so easy to follow. The pacing is incredible and the characters just feel natural. The title feels like a misnomer at first but more and more you realize why it's called that. A really good book.

I'm almost surprised with how much I've enjoyed reading this story. With longer stories that I've been following for a while, there usually comes a time when I feel it starts to drag and I stop feeling as excited about new chapters, so I usually need a little break. That's not the case here, despite it being long, it successfully manages to keep my attention. Overall - 5/5
    Style: 5/5
This was the most surprising part for me - that I'd enjoyed the writing style so much. It's written as almost comedic, which I usually avoid, but it's executed in such a way that the serious parts are well balanced, and comedy in between fits very well. It's not too ridiculous and doesn't break immersion - the funny parts are realistic and actually funny.
    Story: 5/5
The plot is interesting, some typical things for this type of story, but usually with an original twist. A lot of magic school chliches are neatly avoided, and the conflict doesn't feel forced. The main character grows strong quickly, but it makes sense, and the obstacles he faces are proportionally difficult without seeming contrived. The overall stakes are high in a way that makes sense.
    Grammar: 5/5
I don't pay attention to grammar by itself, but if it's bad, I'd notice, because it'd pull me out of reading. For this story, I have no complaints.
    Character: 4.5/5
I didn't give full marks here only because some relationships sometimes feel a bit shallow when they shouldn't be. Like the main character's relationship with his mother - they don't seem to have a close relationship, but there's no reason for that at all, and it's never addressed.
But besides that, all of the characters are well-written, and have unique and distinct personalities with motives that make sense. I really like how Henry's character evolves, I won't say anything to much because spoilers, but the gradual effect living with humans has on him is nicely done.
There's romance later on, but there I actually like that it's so low-key - it grows naturally and

I quite like the characters.  A very nice story easily one of my favorites from royalroad started reading around it started. People complain about its slow-ish pace, I think the slower the better, as it leads to more hype, more chapters, and a more thought out pace. But idk. If you're like me and not a fan of many litrpg, your in luck this beauty utilizes it. Love it 💘 ❤ 🤍 💙

This is one of my favorites now. Part of that may be because it''s new (to me). But most of it has to do with the quality of the story itself. The world building can easily draw you in. Many Characters are likable in their own ways, and many you love to hate. Give it a shot, you won't regret it.

The protagonists are not evil.  Terms and conditions may apply. The human protagonists make an honest effort to be good, but trying to teach eldritch abominations the meaning of friendship is easier said than done.  The tone is quite light, provided you ignore the lore, backstories, monsters, eldritch abominations, and the free food they serve in the cafeteria.
An enjoyable and pleasent read.  It's the sort of fluff you read to relax.  This isn't exactly heavy reading, though there is some light philosophy on account of the existential dread that pops up from time to time.
Two chapters is enough to decide if this story is for you or not.
That concludes my review.  On to constructive criticism for the author:
Style: Good.  The prose lacks variety, but that's mostly a matter of practice.  I would have preferred a stronger narrator presence, like in Love Crafted by RavensDagger, but that's a personal preference and doesn't necessarily match your writing style.  Sometimes subtle is better.
Like most, you struggle with scene transitions.  Characters arrive at destinations mid conversation, despite distances being 15m apart and the conversation taking no longer than 5m.  The story mentions the duo attending both early class and afternoon class, but they fall asleep right after finishing early class and don't wake up until it's time for the next early class.  Characters transition from one area to another with only a single sentence to specify they are in a new area.
You also struggle with scene consistency.  For example, the door was desribed as having hinges on the INSIDE of the room (which is sensible for security reasons), but the door is described as opening OUTWARDS (as the door hit damien as he swung it shut behind him.  How does he even do that with a giant stone door, while both his hands are full, anyway?).
I recommend taking a look at live theatre scripts, and see how those are structured.  Live plays solve the scene transition and scene consistency problems by

A new and interesting take on a genre with a lot of competition! The author does a great job with writing the characters to be both enjoyable and believeable! I am usually not a huge fan of progression fantasy, but I do enjoy them when they are done well, and this one definitely does it well. A really good mix of both humor and serious tones that you do not usually find in this genre. Definitely check this one out if you are even a little bit hesitant.

    SELF-INTRODUCTION:
Hi. My name is Ted. I've currently read 245 chapters of My Best Friend is an Eldritch Horror at the time of this review, which is more than any of the other review here. So you should trust me.
Please continue to the next section of this review, and don't worry, I definitely don't want this world to end!
    INTRODUCTION:
It took me a long time to put my finger on what kept this story from being “WOW, THIS IS THE BEST BOOK EVER” instead of “Wow, this is really good.”, and I think the best way I can describe the feeling I got reading it is “Cradle without the kick but all of the punch.”
    COMPARED TO CRADLE:
So let's get that out of the way. I'm calling it “Cradle without the kick”, but I'd like to think that the fact that I'm even comparing it to Cradle is nothing but a compliment. That series is awesome, this series is awesome. But what's making me compare it to Cradle?
MC being inseparable from his extremely strong female companion “trained by her Master”
Oh, and she has a problem with her core that will lead to her eventual doom if she doesn't do something about it through training and getting stronger.
    ...Haha.
Yeah, it took me forever to figure out what their dynamic reminded me of, but this is definitely the Lindon/Yerin dynamic in a nutshell. They do everything together, and a lot of their fights are about them teaming up to cover their weaknesses, FMC taking the more direct approach, MC doing something more clever with magic. I could stretch and try to point out more similarities, but yeah, their dynamic is very similar to the Lindon/Yerin, so if you liked that, you'll like this. Not a bad thing!
So if you liked YerinxLindon... you might like this.
MC has a sentient being living inside him that helps him in combat and pops into being from time to time to make snarky jokes
Yeah, his eventual corporeal form reminds me almost exactly Dross as well(but less handsome and intelligent!) with the tentacles and blobby form.
This whole concept is not uniq

A very well written story with an intriguing magic system.I haven't noticed any spelling/grammatical errors. The one thing I will say is that I don't get why both the Mc and his edrich friend(?) have to be secretive but probably will be explained in the future over all 5/5 good book so far
