Description

A simple adventure on a planet of ice by a man with the simple name of Hero to hunt down and defeat a legendary monster that has simply fallen from the moon.

Unknown to them an ominous traveler makes his way through dimensions. He holds a greater understanding of what's taking place on their planet...their galaxy...their universe.

This is the story of Severatine, the amnesic star spirit, who has been severed away from his star and is on a nonsensical journey to save a goofy world from the jaws of a friend he can no longer remember.

This is the story of Alteorn, one of the three types of gods who create all dimensions within the multiverse, a god of alteration, and his self-banishment after becoming one of the only four gods to ever experience life threatening trauma.

This is a story of Alteorn's grand experiment on proto universe Theta, the dimension in which Severatine lives.

This is a story of Severatine's struggle to adapt to a sense of self that can't be retained in that experiment.

What to expect

slap stick comedy: Sevartine's (or "Hero's") side of the story is more of a parody of an adventure on a world that doesn't take itself seriously as he is joined by an initial party of four that increases over time with goofy 1-dimentional members such as a gun wielding healer and a formerly genocidal penguin.

Philosophical discussion: Alteorn's side of the story takes place with him traveling through dimensions in order to alter them in some fashion. While doing so he will discuss the worlds properties, why they were made, what makes him choose the way he alters them, and what it all makes him see within himself and his people.

A lonely overarching story: While Severatine is surrounded by party members, the most important aspects of his personal journey will be experienced by only himself or just a few others.

What not to expect

consistent tone

consistent action: There are plenty of combat scenes especially during important (or very silly) points, but there's also many chapters without them. Alteorn's side of the story has very little combat though when it does it gets surreal.

meaningful romances: In this story you'll only find jokes, mostly revolving around sub characters.

At its core this is a story about losing your point of reference to the world.

For readers who enjoy stories that mix weird cosmic lore with character introspection and an off-beat sense of humor, this is shaping up to be a promising start.
Lost Starlight Genesis by Jarbl Rock starts with a wandering adventurer referred to as “Hero” in a frosty, oddball world but quickly unfolds into something far more layered and intriguing.
At its heart, the story blends cosmic fantasy, absurdist humor and existential exploration.
We’re introduced to a world that doesn’t take itself too seriously — comedic battles with strange creatures and absurd party members give the opening a light, almost parody like feel.
What begins with snow-covered landscapes and silly skirmishes gradually reveals a deeper mystery involving dimensions, forgotten powers and fractured identity.
What works particularly well in these first five chapters is how the author gradually peels back layers — Severatine’s struggle isn’t just physical; it’s psychological, as he grapples with shifting self-perception and the meaning of his own existence.
The story’s fast-paced, quirky writing mixes absurd humor with surprisingly deep cosmic themes. The world feels imaginative, though some comedic beats slow the pace and a few fight scenes get a bit hard to follow.
Overall, it’s unpredictable and engaging, with just enough mystery to make you want to see what comes next.
