Book 2 Back Cover Blurb:
Merlabria, the crown jewel of the Mercan League, it’s beauty and splendor unmatched upon Syroneika. However, not everything is as it seems, foul intentions are afoot, and the city hides many secrets. The two princes vie for dominance, accruing power and swaying the nobles. Yet the Archon refuses to name an heir inviting more chaos, for a pit of snakes has no shortage of vipers.
Trapped between competing interests the Scholar and his retinue remain wary, the trip has been filled with danger, and their enemies willing to kill. A private meeting with the Archon could resolve these concerns, yet the Archon has plans of his own, whether these plans coincide with that of House Amyntas remains to be seen. The Scholar will have to make many decisions affecting the lives of those around him, all the while training a fledgling Niko to better control his newfound abilities lest they threaten to consume his body.
Many things swirl within the web of conflict, with many shadowy forces moving in the peripheries. Yet a rapid return home to the safety of Temrenos may not be as safe as one might assume. Winter is upon the horizon and dark clouds form; this season promises to be more unforgiving than the last… and it will take all the wits the Scholar and those under his command have, to come out intact. For the Encroaching Roots of the wicked promise but two things, death, and destruction.

- toolazytobreatheRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Sweats looking at the gun. Tied to the chair looks at the paper that lies on his knees and then starts reading at loud. My completely unsolicited review of the Lineage saga story states. The characters are well-written and world building is great. It brings the vibe of Ancient Greece where city states quarreled with each other, forgetting they are small fish in a big pond. I give it 4 stars....hears as bullets are loaded into the chambers... I GIVE IT FIVE-STAR POINTS!
- gabrielparutRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Great world so far, looking for more view into the supernatural part of the world, and to see how will our characters progress forward.
Grammar is a strong point of the story, but the consistent releases are even more important, but what attracted me more are the vivid descriptions of the world. Looking for more chapters down the line! - klopez.00Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have very much enjoyed the story so far! I find it well written with the right amount of details that let you visualize and understand what's going while not being excessive. The Greco-Roman inspired setting is a plus for me! It's also easy to follow and very enetertaining.
- mhrxoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Throughly enjoyed the storyline and the way this was written, it's super easy to immerse yourself in the world and get invested in the characters. Excited to hopefully see more reads from this author in the future and see what it's like! Great work overall, would recommend this to others 🙌
- Haroune601Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have read the first version of the story which was good enough , the type of story that I usually enjoy , this version is clearly an improvement . I am eagerly waiting for the rewritten chapters to be posted so we can move on with the plot to something . As of now , I don´t have anything bad to say , it is a solid story.
- Jester641Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Well written. Storyline well fleshed out. Hope to buy once published if the quality continues. I am enjoying the story and very much hope the author is able to continue. Well worth reading. Highly recommended. Oh 50 words from my phone. Rats my wrist is tired. I am favorite this author and you should too.
- SirKiruxRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A very interesting story, the world seems to be quite vast with several exploration options, characters with different personalities and well written, the enemies are soldiers, beasts and fantasy monsters, the various combats are very well written, a mix between fantasy and fantasy. Overall history is a good story and well worth reading.
- Sparks2020Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0The author of this work plays fair with the audience by telling us up front that this is a slow-burn, epic saga of a story. It is, but it's also an excellent example of worldbuilding on a huge scale.
I'm not a specialist in artifacts or lifestyle in the Roman/Greek world but it appears that the author's done a good job of bringing it to life. The opening has a great gladiatorial-style scene, and we do get to see in subsequent chapters that this is a stern, unforgiving world but with 3-dimensional characters.
Sort of threw me that we set aside characters we meet in Chapters 1-4 for a bit, but the story's grown since then and I'm looking forward to continuing until it's scooped up and put on Kindle. - TaxReligionRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a well-written piece of fiction that is well thought out. Overall it is far superior to the average of RR and wouldn't be out too of place as a published novel.
Style: This is the main area that I'm knocking it, mainly because in the first few chapters after the prologue there was a bit too much exposition. There was a lot of "maid and butler dialogue", characters were quickly introduced with their character traits -- that guy's a drunk, but great in battle. The prologue was great, then the story slowed down significantly for chapters 5 and 6. From the looks of it though, those chapters did a lot of heavy lifting exposition-wise to allow for less encumbered chapters later. 4/5
Grammar: The story is well written. Everything makes sense. I did notice a few mistakes that were basically typos. A word repeated, a missing "the" or "a" that if he just did another read through the author would notice. None of it was distracting though, so 5/5.
Story: I love the historical setting and the level of detail put into the world. You can tell the author really took the time to plan out his world. It's filled with distinct cultures and world views. The premise is interesting and you are able to empathize and root for the protagonists. 5/5
Character: There is a diverse cast of distinct characters, I'm only knocking off half a point because I felt the introduction in chapter 5 "meeting the crew" felt too forced. Other than that, they are easy to root for and you form a quick mental impression of the characters, and they act consistently with their character.
Overall: 5/5. Great story. However, I hope you find success on RR, even though your story doesn't align with RR's demographics. - FatherPraxRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Great story so far, but been most impressed by the world building. Author rarely just espouses info, but instead shows you what the world is like by how the different characters and factions interact in both public and private. Very impressive so far, and I am interested in where the story goes.
The main focal character doesn't seem overpowered, and his journey so far is logical.
