Never read worm, but have played league for years and thoroughly enjoyed reading this! I'm sure if you are familiar with both, it would be even better! - GenPowerEveryNightRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Great writing and use of lore from both Worm and LoL, as I didn't know much about Worm until reading parts of this novel and the old place it was referenced from / written. The power system is very interesting, the plot and characters are awesome, and the tinkering / building is great too. Just a very well written novel with an amazing plot. Very very cool if you know some fragments of either actual series!
- Machine HellRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0For a Fan Fiction is pretty good.
I like the Messages that the author leaves at the end to talk to the audiencie .
The relativly Slow paced tinkering.
And i think for What it is its a good novel i would like the author to continúe updating , or at least promises of a comeback - NanotrexsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I was genuinely surprised when I read the first arc and got hooked. I've had this book in my library for a while now and kept postponing it cause I thought it'll be trash. I'm glad I was very wrong.
The book is wonderful. Good power scaling, good plugging of plot points that are relevant here but wasn't in worm, good insert and scaling of lol mechanics, and a good different take on characters like cauldron.
This book is a must read - Was.Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0As per usual, Fabled Webs has created an extremely good fanfic that hits all the right spots.
I had read it a bit ago before it was delayed and now have read it again from start to current in just a few days and you can really see the writing evolve and you get sucked into the story very quickly.
Great job! - DoopRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Easy to read, minimal grammar mistakes, and good worldbuilding. While it's a fanfic it doesn't have to rely on things that have already been detailed in the original book. It takes the history of world already written but not described and gives it that description.
The league of legends addition is a needed twist as well. As someone who greatly enjoys the lore more than the game I'm happy with this. - CestarianRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The story is good. Especially the first 3 arcs
It's well written, remains quite faithful to the original setting but ultimately has a few things dragging it down.
The issues are mostly minor individually, but add up collectively.
The pacing is too slow. Combined with the slow release rate of monthly chapters, this story is effectively crippled. I doubt it'll be completed unless the pacing or the release rate improve.
The protagonist is a child with an isekaid adult's mind. This is a bad thing. He doesn't behave like a child, he doesn't get treated like a child beyond a token effort, and because of the slow pacing he doesn't ever seem to be going to stop being a child either. It also makes it difficult to picture the protagonist because his every action implies he's an adult, so it requires active effort to remember he is not.
The final, and imo worst issue, is that the protagonist is too powerful. He starts out fairly weak, but he grows so rapidly that in as little as 2 years at 10 years old he's strong enough to send endbringers (malicious monsters that make godzilla look cute and murder people by the millions) packing. Which kinda kills the thrill of it all, the only thing that can threaten him now is scion and that fight is many years away still.
This very strongly detracts from the thrill of the setting. This world is super dark, one of the main things that made worm so good was that the protagonist wasn't really equipped to deal with it, and so had to be pissing their pants in the trenches like everyone else. That's why, for me, this story peaked at the 3rd arc, because after that, this story's protagonist has outgrown said trenches (maybe not fully at that point, but very few things where his power scaling matters happen from then until he is).
Ultimately, the problem is that it's just too easy for him to create legendary runeterran items, or their equivalents. Which makes him rapidly outgrow the power scaling of the setting. And that was where the story truly - EldritchTentacleMessRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Legendary Tinker is a fun crossover Fanfiction between Worm by Wildbow and the world of Runeterra from League of Legends canon. It is an interesting exploration of the further world of Worm which is usually laser-focused on the city of Brockton Bay, instead taking place elsewhere, and far before the events of Canon take place.
The story is very good, though I believe the characterisation struggles at the start, especially when dealing with the tone of the story, however the main character develops very well later on.
I'm glad to see the story come to Royal Road where it can possibly garner a larger audience than on Spacebattles, and hopefully introduce people to Worm and the Worm Fanfiction community further! - forman92Royal Road★★★★ 4.0The Good:
Characters. Locations. The story feels fleshed out in a way many don't. It bothers to go into details about other characters and the story's location. The POV shifts help too. I found them grounding.
The Good or Bad:
The story's location (at least as far as I have read now) feels like a rehash of Brockton Bay. You have gangs. They somehow get out of hand, stage prison breaks fairly easily, and just cause mayhem.
Some people like a simple rehash of Canon. I don't personally, but that is just my preference. I need something new to hold my interest.
The Bad:
Has the generic issues most Isekai's have: Isekai somehow winds up in a world they know, then kind of ignores their knowledge.
I feel like if anyone got put into the worm verse and knew what was going on, their very first priority would be to find a way to deal with precogs and thinkers. If you plan to be literally anyone in the worm verse, or doing anything of significance, you are opening yourself up to the interest of precogs. Which is not going to end well for you (that is canon).
His power is ironic as well. It is called innovation, but all I have seen so far is him copying things others have done. That is not innovative. - TheNormanRoyal Road★★★ 3.0The story itself is great with only one issue, but that issue is large enough that I'm probably not going to be able to finish the story (even just to what is current at the time of me writing this).
It's a wunder child story. The main character is supposed to be 8. Even in a setting like Worm, what kinda people are ok letting an 8-year-old go out on hero patrols ever? Even worse is that up to the point where I got to, had he been 16 (double his current age), the story would have been unchanged (except for minor edits). There has been no plot-relevant reason to have him be that age.
I don't care that he is mentally older. His being 8 in a story that's definitely not meant for children makes it hard for me to read. There is no reason to have a child like that be the main character for relatability, like in some children's stories where they do silly things like save the world. So, you're left trying to enjoy a story about an 8-year-old child getting into situations where it's highly likely that they get splattered but don't because of 'reasons'.
