King of Fools : Silver Tongue

Description
A certain trickster spirit was fond of saying,'me and my big fat mouth'. That could be Jasper Stone's motto. There's never been a situation in his life he didn't make worse by opening his mouth, because when he does, ridiculous amounts of trash-talk and overconfidence just spills out. He's never managed to do anything with his wits -- but when the God of Fools tosses him into another world for amusement's sake, he'll need to put them to use. Because there are bandits, dragons, and cultists out there -- none of whom appreciate Jasper's particular gift for insults.

- SJ ReaverRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Not many LitRPGs that focus on wargame mechanics. Jasper is such a loser in life that a trickster god-of-fools dumps him into a new world in which people fight across hex-based biomes.
The story strikes a balance between having a complex world with several magic systems and unusual ways of ‘leveling’ and while keeping the pace brisk. While the foolish protagonist, his thoughts, and his insult-based powers deliver the funny, the characters and setting are always handled in a serious manner. It’s funny without being fluffy.
Right now, Jasper is exploring the world and we’re getting to know his companions. There isn’t a sense of purpose driving him. It will be interesting to see where his loyalties end up given his infiltration powers means he is able to fit with people on any side of a war.
It feels as though Jasper might develop a love interest with someone who is an ‘enemy.’ That’s always an interesting balancing act and good for drama.
Grammar is solid and prose is good. Descriptions tend to be less flowery than previous works by this author, which keeps with the very grounded perspective of the MC.
If this one continues to update, I can easily see it becoming a top ten on RR. - B.C. FaJohnRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Okay, this story really took me in with the first chapter at the mention of "Light-Mode Discord" and the introduction of an unlikable MC. And, to make matters better, he gets knocked in his place pretty quickly (and after such a good joke, too... poor guy).
That said, Jasper is unlikable in the best freaking way possible. He's funny, stupid, and definitely thrown into a situation that no fool would want to find themselves in. His reactions are realistic, but always in line with the "Big-Mouth" character trait that makes him soooo punchable...
Not only is this story funny, but it is well written, too. The stats are easy to follow, and don't overwhelm the actual story, and I find myself wanting to press forward to keep figuring out what Jasper is going to get himself into next. The introduction to the guiding voice is fantastic as well... I might even say they are funnier than Jasper in a dry way.
If you like punchable MCs with (objectively) good comebacks, then you need to pick up the story. Also, if you like LITRPG in general, it's a must read--the author, once again, has proven they are a master of their craft. - DraecathRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0His words are razar sharp in more ways than one. I kept finding myself giggling at the absurdity of what he said in the worst possible situation. Then marveled at how the author could think up so many genius jabs. No one is safe from his razer sharp and sometimes extra pointy words. Somehow even after throwing insult after insult he lands back on his feet only to open his mouth again.
The world is also quite interesting and unique. I don't think I've read a story with a grid like world with separate biomes in each. A lush rainforest and a dead desert could be a step apart. There is hostility between different people with history backing it up giving a fleshed out feel to the world even if the main character may not interfere himself. Though knowing him he will likely talk himself into something world changing by accident.
Character wise this story really shines. Nodragons somehow humanized a bunch of nasty bandits to the point us readers could feel sympathetic to them despite their obvious many crimes. Only to pull a surprise. Every character who had more than a paragraph of screen time felt alive.
Grammer and style wise is practically flawless at least for a webnovel as well. - JPwritesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I love deceitful, amoral, tricksterish protagonists and Jasper gives me that vibe. At first, I wasn't sure whether I'd like him. I thought the power to conjure daggers using insults would turn into an annoying gimmick. Boy was I wrong.
The author never disappoints with his style. I've read Thieves Dungeon and beta read Breaker of Heavens. Both were good, but this one features the kind of tone I enjoy.
As far as Story is concerned it's too early to tell. We've barely touched upon world building and are slowly learning about the gods. The plot and the protagonist's goals are still up in the air. However, it's a good start. I wish things went a bit slower but that's a matte rof personal taste and not the author's fault. For the webserial medium the story-telling is perfect.
I noticed no glaring grammar issues and I'll skip over the subject.
What gripped me the most about Dao of Insults is the characters. We've barely met the witch and the bandits, but they already feel fleshed out and interesting. There seem to be no faceless red shirts around because everyone is valuable to the narrative. Jasper has been interesting so far and I'm keen to see how he develops in the coming chapters. - NecariinRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Okay I love this story.
Style: Typical to NoDragons, it's got excellent prose and grade-a jokes. From the isekai moment to him discovering the world, it's all smooth and intensely interesting.
Story: That flows into my story rating too. Learning about the world, about the tensions around the protagonist is very fun and compelling. I like that a lot isn't spoon fed to the reader, because we're behind Jasper's eyes and in his head, and he doesn't know shit all about this new world. But it's not navel-gazing either, firmly focused on the now and surviving his current threats. The larger conflict (as it's been revealed) is interesting as well, and the way the System is set up with arcane terms and suchlike is top notch.
Grammar: it's great. If there were typos, I neither noticed them or cared. NoDragons could be misspelling every other word and I'd still enjoy it.
Character: Jasper Stone is a great character to follow around, and learning of the world with him is the best. Inferential worldbuilding has always been a favorite of mine, and having it couched in a desperate yet entertaining character like Jasper is a chef's kiss.
Goddamn, I love this fiction. Read it! - NightslxyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Honestly, I can see nothing wrong with this novel so far. The charecters are great, plot amazing and world building just as good. I know this is early on but, if the author keeps up with this type of quality content, then this will probably become one of the biggist novel on royal road.
- Azel RoblesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I honestly think new inventive and interesting systems are some of the author's strong points, and this story doesn't deviate from this, we get two whole different systems that are entirely new and already look super interesting, with a really unique mc who's exceedingly disrespectful in a universe where face is everything, what could go wrong for him ?
Can't wait to read more ! - RARE_METALRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It is truly amazing what NoDragons can do to make a book engaging.
I love the way thing are described, it gives a sense of fluid action, makes one visualise what it is said and makes the world easier to understand.
The insults are pretty funny, the characters are alive and the world seems intresting, the exposition is done extremily well and is engaging, while not oversteping its bounds.
Read it, thats all i have to say. - RustyRaltzzRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Amazing world. Every scene is saturated with life. The world leaves a million questions for the reader, as any magic world is. The protagonist is one of the best characters I've come across. He is endlessly entertaining. The supporting cast is being flushed out, but none of them have grabbed me the way Jasper has. I hope the story delves deeper into the god of fools, he seemed interesting. 10/10 can't wait for more.
- PerseveranceRoverRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I have a lot to say but I will keep it simple. I adore how the world of this story is being structured. The main character is a joy to read and I am thrilled to see his witty personality actually used in a clever manner. If you are a fan of a main character who learns and still maintains his wits, then this is the book for you! The stakes are real and our main character handles them as well as a Fool can. An excellent read overall. I am excited to see where this goes.
