Description

Puns, Guns and Existential Dread.

Darcend is a world almost overrun with Shades, twisted monsters that feed on negative emotions. Against them stand the Mythics, humanity's superheroic last line of defence.  These heroes use their souls' powers to keep humanity's light from being extinguished.

Lost and forgotten in the kingdom's orphanages, Tom Walker had almost lost hope in becoming a Mythic until an accident unlocks his power of super-speed, but at the cost of his leg. Now stuck with his soul attached to a super powered criminal, he's noticed by the headmaster of Telum, a world renowned Mythic school, and given a place where he can learn to fight in a team, mask his emotions and understand how to kill Shades effectively… on the condition that he can convince his old roommate to also join.

listen I'm only at the second chapter at the moment but I this is a pretty good time, I'd recommend - I technically know a spoiler for chapter five that I shouldn't really know but now I'm weirdly more invested because of the spoiler meaning I wanna know why it's like that in the lore, idk, we move, anyway read it xoxo bye

I love this fiction! I've only gotten to chapter five, but the story is amazing and I have very few choices I disagree with.
Of course there are typos, there always will be, and the sentence structure feels a little bit reminiscent or rambling, which is fine.
The characters are well developed and they make sense, very well done there. Some of the characters are insanely frustrating and they're clearly supposed to be that way, it just goes to show the talent blue has!
The style is what I really have the most gripes with. My biggest problem is that anytime there's a serious moment it gets immediately undercut with a pun or humor. I understand that lots of people love this interaction, and it's something some of my favorite authors do. I personally would have preferred a bit more grit, but that's a personal choice and has nothing to do with the quality of the story. To me it just breaks immersion, which to me is one of the most important things in a fiction. I do understand that that isn't the same for everyone, and if you like that sort of thing this is for you!
Overall, I've got one more story to get frustrated on not caught up on!

I enjoyed what is currently up and would recogment it, if you could get past the prologue which feels like it needs work especially considering the point of view doesn't seem to be the one that we stick with.
The charactors are good but need a more defined character voices as slightly too many seem to have the snarky, sarcastic jokes. The descriptions of the Shades is good with a nice touch of horror but the charactor descriptions do need more work as too many of them are just described with hight and eye colour but the author seems to be improving with each chapter.
The style and charators has seemed to improve since I last updated this review though some chapters seem slightly light on description compared to dialogue. Though the horror atmosphere has defenently improved in some of the later chapters.
I liked the introduction of Dr Jacq who seems to be a magic equivalent of gender fluied? Plus in the latest chapter the explanation of the soul tree definitely seems interesting.
At the moment there is aspects of world building but some parts seem slightly rushed through in that aspect, the world does seems interesting and I do like what we've seen of the powers as they have used them relatively unique ways such as using recoil on their weapon to launch themselves when effected by anti gravity. The powers also seem relatively varied though the MC seems to have just two types of super speed.
There doesn't seem to be any grammar mistakes that I could pick up and there definitely is varied use of sentence structure and punctuation, so defentatly no fault in that regard.
I'd recommend if you like puns and a aspect of horror.

Truly one of the best things I’ve read. NEED the author to write more!!! Shades was truly one of the most gripping characters I have seen in a book. Whole thing had me on the edge of my seat! I can’t recommend this book enough. My only criticism is that the entire, whole book was not long enough, not long enough at all! Potentially, and now I’m really thinking, maybe this book could be a part of a series? Something to think about, I’d love to read more of shades!

As the title says this story is great, the aurthor updates somewhat regularly, the writing is great, the chrarators are great, the grammar is great.
I really like the authors style and the mix of humor and action. There might be a slight over reliliance om puns and things but other than that its great.
The charators are really cool and I like the references. Its clearly has influences from shows like RWBY and from things like the SCP foundation.
The prologue is a bit iffy like all the other reviws are saying but its easy to look past as its only short. The charator dynamics are fun and so is the world building. I cant wait to see more of the Shades and other Mythics.
There are some aspects of mystery which get brought up whick keeps things interesting.
The story is funny which is something that I like. Especially the dramatic irony in the most reasent chapter which is clear foreshadowing as we learned about whats going to happen in the interlude.
My favourite part so far has been the interlude as it was so cool, I wouldn't even mind if they were the story's focus as they seemed like fun characters.
The later chapters seem to take a slightly darker aspect especially with the shades which I feel goes well with the lighter scenes.
While it was updated regularly it’s slightly less regular now as apparently they have a higher work load but when it does update it’s good
Safe to say check it out, favourite and follow

This is one of my favorite stories on the app. I found it a few days ago and read the entire thing in one sitting. The descriptions are beautiful and I have not seen any grammar mistakes. The author has done an amazing job and I hope they keep it up!

    First review! yay
the story is good from what i have read although i havent read a lot
    more chapters would be nice
more info about the world would be nice
it seems like an alternate earth belonging to around the same time period as 2000s? not later than 2010s as TVs are still popular. magic is a thing and super heroes exist? legacied people save others and stuff. solid story but not enough chapters to say more, so 4.5 out of 5? will edit the review after chapter 10 or something and well thts it
dont really know the character tht much but well there arent many chapters soo...
i recommend reading it if u ask me :)

The concept is highly intriguing, evoking a strong desire to seek answers. This engagement is a positive aspect, indicating your curiosity and anticipation for what lies ahead. As a fellow writer, I must admit feeling a tinge of jealousy, as I often struggle to captivate my audience as effectively as this author does! Their ability to craft a compelling hook is truly impressive.
The world-building takes a different approach, favoring a more direct focus on the story rather than immersing the audience gradually. While this style might not be everyone's preference, it remains a subjective matter, varying based on individual moods and appreciations. For some, it may be a minor concern, while others might embrace it wholeheartedly.
I did find one slight issue that occasionally bothered me—the use of humor felt somewhat excessive at times. It might have been more effective if used more sparingly, allowing it to pack a stronger punch when employed.
Nevertheless, the story is undeniably excellent, and the characters are skillfully written, which adds to the overall enjoyment. I noticed only a few insignificant grammatical errors that wouldn't be considered problematic. Such minor flaws can be found even in books from major publishers, and they are easily forgivable.
Ultimately, the book's quality far outweighs these minute imperfections, making it a compelling read that keeps you eagerly awaiting the next chapter release. If you're looking for a book that keeps you hooked and waiting in anticipation, this is undoubtedly the best kind of read for you!
