I Became the Villain Of a Book

Description

The realisation hit me like a moving truck — I am an average university student who awoke inside a fantasy novel! Yet, not the protagonist in the face of Elisa, the most kind and innocent person you could ever imagine. But a main antagonist, an annoying and envious Victoria Sableford, the evillest character imaginable, whose destiny is to be killed by the hand of her True Love.

“Hell no!” I decide to myself, “I ain’t going to die! Screw that destiny rubbish.”

I started reading this when I found it on recent updates, and since I’m a huge fan of those transmigrated into a novel manhua/ novels I decided to give it a shot. And I’m so glad I did because this was so well written that I could not put it down. So if you are also a fan of those manhua then I recommend that you stop reading this review here and start reading this story.
The style was well done and I had no issues with it.
The story is about a woman who was transmigrated into her favorite novel as the villain Victoria and follows her rather unique struggle to win against the plot. And the plot hammer of this particular world is strong.
So, I listened to this story through text to speech. I did not notice any outstanding issues with grammar, but I did notice that the spacing between paragraphs seems larger than it should be and the author may want to look into why that is happening and fix it, but that isn't exactly a grammar issue.
The characters in this novel are rather interesting. And since the story revolves around the mystery of what happened in the villain’s past and our MC’s struggle against the original plot, this story is heavily invested into the characters. Victoria is a woman with a personality opposite to original villain, she’s nice enough and often has to step out of her comfort zone to defend herself socially, and sometimes physically. Although at this point we don't know as much about what she was like in the real world as I’d like, she’s still a genuinely likable character.
So, bid you managed to make it this far into my review, do take a look at this story!

I only just found this story, but I adore it. It is short, but excellently written, and I love the character as well as her current circumstances. Her situation is unique enough that I've not seen a similar transmigration story before- I've seen all these individual elements, yet the way they've been arranged creates a compelling narrative and an engaging read.
I deeply, desperately hope it gets continued, as the author is clearly highly skilled and excellent at what she does. I hope to see more soon!

I'm making this review simply because I believe this story is underrated at four stars and I read through most of it before they took it off.
The writing structure is vastly different from what is normally showcased on RR. A lot of the inspiration RR writers get is from Chinese wuxia translations, meaning that plot progression is often marked with physical power and a boost in status. Meanwhile, this story narrates from the perspective of a largely helpless woman who's at the mercy of an incredibly powerful love interest. So, instead of increasing her power level and slapping the face of her enemies, she progresses by developing her relationship with said powerful love interest.
As you could imagine, a bunch of sweaty weebs like us wouldn't be too interested in exploring the conflict of 'to romance and fix my problems, or not romance and retain some dignity cause he's a d*ck.' Which, is why I think the novel hasn't recieved much recognition.
But, it's really fine. I found it fun to read. The characters aren't stupid (if a little overdramatic) and the author introduced interesting fantasy elements like prophesied love. So, perhaps it just tickled my particular fancy of drooling otaku, but I thought it was a pretty good romance.
If you want a taste of the tone and themes in this novel, a lot of villainess manhwa (Korean comics) share the same plot structure. Which, I suspect is where the author got her inspiration. You can find some of them on platforms like Webtoons and MangaDex.
