Description
When Marween Root and his girlfriend die in a tragic and unlikely hiking accident, he sees her soul leave her body and, in an act of desperation, grasps onto it.
His soul becomes an unintended stowaway in a magical ritual, dragged along for a new adventure never meant for him.
His soul awakens in the body of Kiara, a newborn baby in a land of magic and monsters. As she struggles with the transition and an evil witch of a grandmother, she does her best to learn all she can about the art of weaving magic, brewing potions, and crafting magical artifacts.
In preparation for undertaking the journey to explore the world, becoming a famous adventurer and craftsman, and searching for her lost love and for a way home.
Author's note:
Crafter's Blade is a reincarnation, adventure story with strong elements of crafting and magic skills. Hopefully, smart and realistic characters. I want to create a world that feels alive and realistic.
I am a novice author, never having published anything before, nor am I a native English speaker. I am a long-time Royal Road reader and have always loved fantasy books.

How long are you planning on having this pace for Kiara? I know she is five but will there be skips as she grows up. Maybe caused by an attack by one of other 6 great families?
- VegetablesRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This is fairly good. So far appears to be slice of life fantasy, in the vein of magic smithing.
RPG elements are on the light side so far, so no half chapters of numbers and tables.
Good characterisation. No cardboard cutouts so far. I loved the initial interaction between Kiara and Grandma, quite suspenseful in a good way. This is what has made the story stand out for me the most. Characters have back stories, and they're filled organically.
Ok, later chapters now. I do have to say what appears to be the main villain, or at least the setup for the main villain is pretty cartoonishly evil sadly, which is bringing the score down somewhat. Along the lines of I'm evil and I get what I want so I scream a lot kind of thing.
The genderbend seems pointless like in most cases, and could have been done without. Maybe it'll become relevant as the MC gets older. Hopefully it won't be just as an excuse for yuri, but whatever.
World building is ok, nothing stands out as very original, but is very serviceable none the less. Magic and swords, monsters and monster cores, walled cities and towns for protection from the wilderness. No info dumps, fantastic.
Spelling and grammar is good, you really can't tell at all that English is not the authors first language. There are issues in later chapters post about 20 with tense and flipping between 1st and 3rd person. It is a little jarring, but nothing super terrible. Aside from that a couple of minor issues, a comma out of place, an undeleted word. By and large ignorable though.
Recommend reading.
