You know what is a problem? Catching the eye of the waitress at the local tavern while trying to generate enough income to expand a too-small shop and upgrade archaic alchemy tools.Welcome to the daily life of a prodigious alchemist that many people think is more like a Golden Retriever than a scientist.

- matruimRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Good story kind of predictable but was really engaging. I enjoyed the slow pace and liked that he had flaws and had to live with them. He didn't over come them and didn't need to gloss over it.
I dislike that I have to write a long review but that is a royal road issue and not a book issue. - aborednerdRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have not yet read the author's other work that seems like it predates this one as an aside.
I just read this start to finish and it makes a perfect arc. The characters are all well developed and interesting. Also it does an excellent job balancing the alchemical parts with the slice of life. I am interested in this story to continue, but the ending is still satisfying.
Be it here or presumably Amazon in the future it is well worth a read. - jnobodyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Is a slice of life Alchemist story, its kind of all it says on the tin and thats all it has to be. There is a LitRPG system in the story but it isnt talked about or utilized much is more of a setpiece which is a nice change of pace from other stories.
Is a cosy slice of life, and is pretty good at that. - kwerteRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0If you’re looking for a cozy, calm, and relaxing fantasy novel, this is for you! The general idea is pretty quick to summarize (and really, you should just go read the blurb, because it says all it needs, but just in case, here we go…). Hawke destroyed his old shop. He got a new one but is in serious debt. Romance. Some daily “grind”. Some fun, some quirky… and lots of potions and crafting.
Style: (I swear this is the only time I’ll be negative, only a little, but I’m just going in the order of categories that I usually do…) The style is mostly pretty decent, but I definitely found a couple moments that read as awkward, and the author’s use of “the alchemist” in place of Hawke’s name was starting to get to me after a few chapters. There were a few overused words and phrases now and again, too, like “grin”. However, I didn’t find that this detracted from the story much.
As for the story, this has got to be the best part! Yes, it’s a slice of life style cozy, comfortable story, but that doesn’t mean nothing happens. The events and progression are all enough to keep me clicking to the next chapter. And the events are great! They feel like they were written by someone who clearly knows things about being an adult. An adult character that actually feels and acts like an adult, all while being a slightly eccentric alchemist (who, again, feels acts like you’d expect an alchemist in his place to act). But maybe that’s going a bit into characters…
The grammar is solid. I didn’t notice any mistakes.
Now, for the characters. Hawke is an incredibly likable protagonist, which makes him easy to follow and side with. And as I stated before, he feels like a real person. The side characters all pull their weight, too.
All in all, if you want a story to just relax with, give this one a try! - KoralloRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A crafting story that is focusing on crafting? A crafter who tries through his ideas and ingenuity to better himself and advance his craft? Behaving like a Self-employed in our world would to advance, take risk and try to get rich or die trying. (like a chemist, sometimes your mixture explodes in your face xD)
Yes to all.
A great crafter tail, wich shines in a world of magic and beasts. An adult Mc and an adult take on the magical setting with a Mc who is behaving like any of us, if we would own a crafter shop even in our modern times. Thankfully not a Mc with Social incompetent as a character trait, wich is sadly common in this brand of novels, but one with a backbone, who knows what he wants but not always how to get it. A story wich shows us how magical and unique the Everyday life could be without the need to have a focus on big and splashy events to get you to want to read more.
I recommend this novel to anyone who wants an adult at the helm of a crafting profession with real crafting methods, not just some magical puff, here you have your grand super dope gene enhanced stuff. Trying and trying untill you find the right formula. This story warms my engineer's heart.
I am glad to have found it. Thanks for the ride and for what is to come :) - Lady LoinRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is very good and cozy. A wonderful example of cozy fantasy and day to day living in a fantasy setting. I enjoyed the ups and downs of our protagonist as he lived his life. Wonderful little touches of ways he is a little bit in his own head and there really needs to be a counter if they're going to have a minimum word count
- OberisRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This was a very enjoyable story to read through. I believe the author did a fantastic job of weaving a beautiful story. It had some great characters that you really grow to enjoy over the story. I will probably go back and charcoal out this authors other work now and I look forward to their work in the future!
- SchroeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Hawke is an alchemist determined to advance his science in spite of the restrictions imposed by the Kimya - the governing body who license new alchemists and can strip him of his grimoire, should they choose to do so. Some of their restrictions make sense, but others exist simply to prevent change. Any change, even if it might lead to a cure for a stubborn illness, or a more efficient way to make a light. He is, of course, much more than just a somewhat rebellious man, but elaborating would require [spoilers]. You'll have more fun discovering the whimsical town of Arcadia Village for yourself.
- Sighing_EchoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story follows pretty well as far as a calendar without much time skip. I tend to love when a story has problems that occur over time and finding solutions dont become a one and done thing that everyone forgets happened. With each new concoction he begins to actually sell new things, they story actually follows his attempt to figure out solutions in interesting ways that would make sense for an alchemist. If you like a slice of life story where by the end they grow as a person, while maintaining their place in the world, I think you'll enjoy it! Stories like these with support classes tend to be pretty good!
- StyxFiskRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overview:
A very comfortable feeling story that handles world building and story progression really well without losing its cozy feeling or feeling like the world is shallow. I definitely want to learn more about the world it's written in and can't wait to get into it, but also enjoy the pacing enough that I'm happy simply being along for the journey as we learn more.
style: cozy and definitely a bit fluffy, with almost no dark elements yet, it's what it says on the tin and definitely a refreshing story that doesn't feel like every other fluffy story allowing it to be a light but fun style to read.
story: not a lot shown yet being early days but there are multiple plot points I am excited to see how they play out, with a good mix of short and longer points that I think will keep pacing in a good place.
grammer: I have seen one genuine spelling mistake so far, and otherwise no complaints at all.
character: our main character has a few layers that are shown but we haven't gotten to dive into just yet, however his definitely fun to follow along with and is supported by some side characters who all feel well fleshed out with good interactivity.
