How I Was Accidentally Summoned in a Cult as the Demon Princess
Community Rating
Description
A bargain-bin cult calling itself the Children of the Abyss has summoned her—on purpose, by accident. They wanted a real demoness and not a nerdy girl cosplaying one. They’re incompetent, fanatical, and, inconveniently, the only people who don’t want to burn a demon on sight. Lily plans to humor them, learn the world, and bail. Instead, rumors snowball, idiots congregate, and an accidental empire starts forming in her name. Will Lily lean into the crown and become the new Demon Queen, ghost the lot of them for a blissfully quiet life, or—against all odds—end up saving a world that keeps mistaking her for its doom?

- Old LancerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story is very enjoyable so far. There have been several stories with similar premise lately but so far this is one of the better ones. The MCs internal struggles with their character is well set up and the author has done a good job of adding conflict to the story despite the MC being so OP.Additionally, the secondary characters are very well done, all actually having different personalities that make them seem real. They are showed to have their own background and motivations and aren't just about standing around being blown away by the MC being awesome, which is unfortunately common in this type of story.Really hope the author keeps it up! Looking forward to more chapters.
- ThePuddingRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is far from the first story I've read where the whole concept is about a max level video game character transported to the video game world. I can think of several published novels that use this concept. Despite this tired premise, I'm going to give this story five stars. Much like overlord we're dealing with an antihero or possibly even villain protagonist. They feel trapped in their current role, and that makes for some tension despite the fact that their life itself doesn't really appear to be in danger. In these types of stories, you have to create a different kind of tension because the threat of physical harm just isn't going to cut it.
It's well written in the manner of style. It does switch between viewpoints quite often, and if I could make any suggestion, it would be to maybe make it clear whose perspective each section is from. Some authors might want to not do that for various reasons so I didn't ding them any points for it. The style itself is easy to read, fairly engaging and the chapters are long, but not so long that they drag on.
There are occasional grammar hiccups or weird sentence styles, but these are actually fairly rare and quickly fixed when pointed out. I never encountered any that really made it difficult to understand what was meant.
The story so far is the only fairly weak point, however the author has stated it is slow burn so it may just be that we aren't to the main plot yet. Despite this, I've given it a fairly high mark just because they do have a setting fleshed out and hints of more interesting things going on.
The thing that I do very much like is that even though the main character, Lily, doesn't linger overly much on the existential questions about their identity, these questions are at least acknowledged and considered more than once.
In summary, I've enjoyed this quite a bit more than the usual max-level MMO character isekai, so I've given it a very high rating. I may revise the various sub ratings after going further int - NeoTetraRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The writing is good, and the characters are well made and feels distinct with a bit of humor. The balancing act of writing an OP MC is hard, and can easily become a Mary sue, but it hasn't happened yet I feel, but we will se when the story escalate.
The biggest Plus for me is the escalation of the story. Keep up the pacing, I'm looking forward to future chapters! - LombizRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I like it very much. Great first chapters. If you read until chapter 2 and still not like it it isn't for you.
What I especially like is how the difference POV give different perspectives aber what is happening.
At least up until now there isn't anything of note that I dislike but if there will be I will update it in the future. - CookieMonster012Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Ok so, I’ve read a few novels where the mc gets reincarnated as an op character or is generally extremely strong, and I have to say all of them share a common flaw. The appeal in this kind of stories is the reaction of normal people to the power of the mc, which is quite fun to read actually. The problem starts when the author gets out of the initial phase and actually needs a real plot. And thats usually when those kind of novels go on hiatus or become so boring I can’t be bothered anymore. BUT. I have high hopes for this one. In this novel it seems that the author actually planned a solid plot instead of just fumbling the mc around to awe random people. I hope I’m not wrong 🙏
- PalamedesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0If you’re a fan of “New Life As A Max Level Archmage” or “Critical Roleplay: I Min-Maxed For Endgame, Not Flavor”, then you’re gonna absolutely love this story. So far it’s been a delightful entry into the ‘reincarnated into my favorite video game as a super OP player’ genre. The twists and turns of the story have had me hooked on every chapter, and so far my only complaint is that I’ve run out of chapters to binge. Reading the main character's POV is a joy, especially when it’s paired with the POVs of the characters she interacts with. MC is really earning that Anti-Villain tag. Give this story a try, I promise you won’t regret it. Keep up the good work Author!!!
- DasinterwebsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It’s funny; I don’t really like isekais, LitRPGs, or OP MCs. And this story is all the above, but it’s actually good. There’s little in the way of classes or skills interrupting the flow of the story, no blue boxes or numbers. The MC is max level, but her problems and challenges are mostly interpersonal and existential rather than the kind of thing she could just hit with a sword. Its a surprisingly mature and well written take on an otherwise silly genre.
- Andrew ButlerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0What's real what's not. What is a game and what is reality. Fickle thing that is reality, likes to be and change but beware when it breaks. The rage of the unseen shall set you free. But then again shat is there to fear you have been trained for this.
- Ben787Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Protagonist gets transmigrated into a fantasy world as her video game avatar. Good premise and good execution by the author. Too early to fully judge everything, but as of yet, it‘s a very promising story and I would recommend reading it.
Also, if this isn‘t inspired by Overlord I‘m eating a broom. It feels very similar to the Keno side story. That‘s not a bad thing though. I could never get enough of this kind of story.
Style: Good. Flows well.
Grammar: No glaring mistakes I noticed.
Story: Good as far as it went so far. The transmigration isn’t just glossed over, so that‘s always a plus. One minor issue I had:
Protagonist immediately assumes she‘s untouchable in the new world. No: Could there be extremely powerful entities lording over this area? No laying low while investigating. Just an immediate: Oh, I‘m max level, I don’t need to worry.
I think one of the first things you‘d think about in that situation would be your own safety. For all she knows there could be gods, that can kill her with a thought.
Character: Quite well done. We already have a few distinct side characters, all fleshed out quite well, each with their own goals etc. Great work there.
Overall: It‘s similar to Overlord, but it lacks the the villainous nature of it—so if that‘s what kept you from the former, I‘d still give this one a try. Would definitely recommend to read. - cauliflowerwolverineRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The genius is in the setup. Lily has max-level powers but zero context. She's intimidating to look at but screaming internally. She could probably level a city but has no idea how this world works, what's safe, or how to get back. The cultists think she's their salvation. Everyone else will think she's the apocalypse. And she's just a girl who ranked #666 in a video game and thought it was funny. That gap between perception and reality is narrative gold.Minor Notes:First chapter does a lot of heavy lifting (world-building, character establishment, premise)—it works, but readers should stick with itThe contrast between Lily's modern speech and everyone else's expectations will either be hilarious or grating depending on your taste (I'm betting hilarious)If you want protagonists who know what they're doing, skip this. If you want to watch someone desperately trying to survive their own reputation while accidentally starting a religion, you've found your new obsession. The cult got exactly what they asked for. They just have no idea what they've actually done. Neither does Lily. And that's what makes this brilliant.
