Description

Ever since Princess Oriana was old enough to read, she dreamed about experiencing a passionate love story, akin to those she saw in her favorite romance novels.

When her father told her that she was to marry the Prince of a neighboring kingdom, she was over the moon. It was her chance to be like the protagonist of her treasured ‘Romance of the Four Kingdoms’.

Oriana went to sleep prepared for a marathon of ardent dreams starring Prince Emil.

“Is it him that you truly want?”

Huh? Why is that Buffoon Commander here? Why is she so close?! Why is my heart beating so fast?!?!The Princess jolted awake, her ears and cheeks burning. Her lips were tingling from a sweet kiss that never happened.

“That swindler! There’s no way I’m going to give my heart to you, Evil Woman!”

Spoiler alert: She did it anyway.

——A love story about two women living in turbulent times, full of intrigue, mysteries, missing deities, legends, and magical creatures.

And gay. Lots of it.

Disclaimer: This novel is a slow-paced romance with a protagonist who doesn't always make the best decisions, or the most logical ones. Expect a lot of dramaturgy.

This fiction is highly entertaining, and quite captivating. As a romantic comedy, it does an excellent job of balancing the comedic aspects, so that you are still genuinely quite interested in the romance.
There are layers of mystery and political intrigue as well, and while they are not handled as well as the romantic-comedy side, they still leave you interested, curious, wanting to know more and to read more.
I also quite like the world building. It's not anything particularly special, but it fits the story quite perfectly, and feels very real—i.e., the beliefs (and real aspects, it is fantasy after all) fit the style and setting, and I can easily believe the characters would hold them.
The only issue is the prose. The phrasing can be quite clunky, sometimes it seems like sentences are mixed about, and the tense does not stay consistent. However, a simple polish could fix this.
Despite that, the prose is not nearly enough to make you want to stop reading. With the entertaining yet captivating romance; the intrigue and the interesting world building; it's a good fiction, a good read. I highly recommend giving it a try if you haven't.
