As someone who enjoys physics very much, I enthusiastically recommend this novel to anybody who likes a bit of science with their magic. The protagonist, Orion, actuallyuseshis knowledge from his life on Earth, something that very few protagonists do in reincarnation stories. He also does not start out OP in objective terms, but rather lays the groundwork for his future meteoric success. Even though only seven chapters have been published as of writing this review, they have entertained me immensely. If the rest of the story is as consistently funny as this, I predict it will easily top Rising Stars, maybe even Best Ongoing.Style: 5/5So far the style of the story has been clean. Lots of internal thinking, some even external, and wonderful applications of the laws of physics. Nothing I would change here.Story: 5/5The story so far has been massively entertaining. The other characters in the Coven misinterpreting system assistance for godly help; Orion's cynicism and progression due to 'understanding' the fundamentals; all is masterfully crafted to form a unique take on reincarnation. So far, the focus has stayed firmly on Orion's development, which is fine for the early chapters, but could use some variation later on. For these chapters it is almost required in order to provide background, but should gradually integrate more world-building as Orion grows. The author probably already knows this; I am just making note of it here. :)Grammar: 5/5Nothing stood out to me as wrong with regards to the grammar used in the story, and there is enough sentence variation and creativity that the tone does not feel repetitive.Character: 5/5The early chapters have focused on Orion a lot, and as such there has not been much room to flesh out some of the other characters. I expect that after a few more chapters they will have more substance, and for now it does not affect immersion too much (since heisvery young in terms of age, in the magical world), so I give this category a 5.Overal

In Hokus Pokus Hypotese a young boy brilliantly unravels mystical phenomena through the lens of science. His exploration blends imagination with intellect, revealing the underlying principles of enchantment. The narrative captivates with its originality, showcasing how curiosity and knowledge can transform the fantastical into something beautifully understandable. A well written must-read!

Binge read this after reading occult itsekai love the way you write magic into a world. Writing in the occult in your books from different perspectives is a really nice change of pace from other books from the genre where in this one the MC is considered “Occult” even though he’s in a literal cult for his ideas. Good soup

This is the best start for a Royal Road fiction I have read in a long while! The visuals were captivating and the grammar flawless. The MC is totally fascinating as well. My only complaint is that the MC feels like a jerk at the beginning. Very excited to see where this story goes.

Great system, simple but well done.
I like mc and his development.
I like the science of spells and the world building, for now it's just a beginning but I have high hopes for the rest of the story.
A little slow but mostly because there aren't many chapters yet.

I can't say this enough. This is what I've been looking for for so long. Like this literally has aspects from my literal daydreams. I can't believe there's actually a series out there that's so in sync with my tastes, and for it to be written so incredibly well.

Honestly, this is a super well written story. I have been looking for something in this genre to catch my attention for a while, but I don't think this is it.Take this with a grain of salt because I went a little crazy following stories trying to find something that I really like, and it got to be a little much. Right now I am dropping a lot of stories, but for some, including this one, I wanted to leave a review because it was genuinely really well done. I like the worldbuilding and concept. I think that the magic system is interesting, but I am not sure it nails that balance between soft for others but the MC gets an advantage for treating it like a hard magic system. Don't get me wrong, it does this well enough, but I also feel that the storytelling could be much more scientifically rigorous. There are definitely related equations and setting up hypotheses, but that's kind of the extent. There could be more testing of the hypotheses, and it could be explained how the MC translates an equation into an actual magical effect a little better. These are pretty much nitpicks as I try to explain why I am not continuing, but I honestly think a lot of people will like this story and if it was written how I want, less people would probably like it. It may be that I want a level of detail that would make this a boring read, unfortunately.Awesome work, author. I think this is an awesome story, I just slowly fell out of interest.

Surprisingly smart and seriously fun!I didn’t expect to enjoy this one as much as I did, but Hocus, Pocus, Hypothesis quickly became a favorite. we get a main character who uses science and logic to navigate a magical world, and honestly, it’s brilliant. The writing is clever and self-aware, with just the right amount of humor. The way the story breaks down magic using real scientific concepts is both hilarious and genuinely interesting. It feels like watching MythBusters in a fantasy setting—and it works! The characters are fun, the pacing keeps things moving, and there’s a constant sense of curiosity and experimentation that makes each chapter super satisfying. If you love stories that challenge tropes and give you something new to chew on, this is it.Give it a shot—you might end up as hooked as I am.

Though only sixteen chapters in at the time of reviewing, I am enjoying the world building.
I appreciate the MC's cynical and analytical nature. He's imperfect and a bit judgemental, but so are most people.
I've rarely joined a book this early and I look forward to the supporting characters getting more fleshed out.
