Description

A transmigrator navigates the cultivation world with his trusty Emperor Penguin sidekick, unaware that his destiny is to pursue world dominion.

But the world knows; it remembers his predecessor and the hell that the madman's posse of penguins unleashed. It will stop at nothing to prevent a repeat of the Great Polar Wars.

But will the world be able to contend with the colony? Or is it time for penguinkind to finally rise up?

Zeng Fei wanted to be a cultivator to escape his otherwise pitiful fate.

Unfortunately for him, he died, and now I’m stuck here... No,quite literally- I’m stuck inside the cave he died in and can’t get out…

Forget jade-skinned beauties or defying the heavens, I’m going to starve to death before my journey even begins! Somebody help, please!

A story in which a transmigrator makes a deal to survive and subsequently finds himself in command over penguins.Cute, innocentpenguins that fearsome primordial powers wish toexterminate... so that the world may be saved.

...Uh, he might have agreed to become the bad guy. Oops.

Release Schedule: Daily

What to expect:

- Cultivator MC who has penguin troops (initially one, then more when his rank goes up)

- Cultivator penguins (🐧🐧)

- LitRPG system baked into a cultivation art (not a sentient system but a mechanical component within the Emperor's overarching cultivation art, i.e. a LitRPG system for MC's troops, not himself.)

- Editable skill trees for troops - the martial techniques used by the penguins are modular, not fixed, so once MC collects enough of them, he can swap them around to create different resulting builds.

I Like Penguin. This has Penguin. 5 Stars.
    Spoiler
In PoE 2, Ascendancy Classes are choices to further specialize your Class. Other games may call is a Job Advancement, Subclass, etc.
Currently in Early Access, all 6 Classes have 2 Ascendancy Classes to choose from. It is planned for each Class to eventually have 3 Ascendancy Class choices.
You will be able to Ascend starting in Act 2, and each Ascendancy will have a special Passive Tree that will greatly empower your character.
Here's some quick notes on Ascendancy Classes:
You can get up to 8 points for the Ascendancy Tree.
    You cannot change your Ascendancy.
You can refund/respec your Ascendancy passives on the tree. (Speak to The Hooded one or Doryani in town. It will cost Gold to refund)
If you want to take a look at each Class, you can take a look at our full Ascendancy Class Breakdown.
The Stormweaver is the second of the two known Sorceress Ascendancies available. This class turns the Sorceress into a master of the elements, making her spells hit faster, harder and apply debilitating debuffs on large packs of foes.
The Sorceress can specialise as The Chronomancer, a mage capable of harnessing the power of time itself. As this Ascendancy, she will be able to not only slow her enemies, but also stop, and even rewind time.

It's cool. I'm a sucker for monster training and this novel scratches that itch (although we have no idea for now how the MC will get more monsters).
As far as english go, it's not my native language so I can't say for sure about mistakes, but haven't seen anything yet (15 chapters in).
Considering the 1st monster is a penguin, I think other unusual monsters would be entering the novel? No idea

Usually, stories of this sort tend to either be really bad or really good (mostly leaning towards the former in my experience). But this one bucks my personal trend, at least from these opening chapters. It’s a genuinely well-written, albeit simple, story with funny writing and understandable characters. I hope it can continue with this quality into larger storylines!

The story is fun and light, and it doesn’t take itself seriously. So it’s definitely not a classical Xianxia novel and shouldn’t be perceived as such. It’s hilarious, intriguing and fast-pasted. LitRPG elements are there, but system is limited and the numbers aren’t the driver of the story, which IMO is good for satire.

This is now one of my new favorite stories, and also the sixth one I actually favorited.  It is very funny, and seems to be similar to “the villainess is an ss+ ranked adventurer.” The main character is somewhat delusional, and it is clear not only from the story, but also the author’s comments that they have put a lot of thought into the story and the world. Pengu is both adorable and slightly concerning, and the part that is concerning is that I can only imagine him as windmilling his arms in the prologue.

    Overview:
I know, I know a bold claim here on Royal Road. Is this really among the royalty for fiction taking a side eye at the cultivation universe? Yes, distantly, a second or third cousin to the royal family at the very least. So if you're curious or into the premise don’t miss this one, if you're on the fence give it a chance. Heavenly Demon Emperor is refreshingly direct as it satirizes some of the classic troupes that Xania tends to get lost in. Where other fictions might set the MC apart from the world, giving readers an outside look at the absurdity xania embraces, this fiction puts those aspects front and center. Then it turns them up to eleven while laughing maniacally. Expect an uproariously unserious take on the xiania troupes and a wild ride from start to finish. I personally, will be cheering the madness along with the real protagonists. NOOT NOOT!
    Characters:
To start with my lowest individual rating. The characters so far are typical stereotypes, with the unexpected twist to comedic that is required by any spoof worth your time. They still feel realistic, though it is a comedy type of realism– like a sitcom, and the interplay between them is all satisfying and funny. But the characters are not masterworks of depth or complexity. While they will, at the very least, make you chuckle, don't expect your heartstrings to be tugged here. All in all very enjoyable characters but not the selling point of this fiction.
    Story:
The selling point of this fiction, I have absolutely no idea where this is going and I love it. Even when it directly tells readers to their face, ‘here is where we’re going to end up’ it's still likely to surprise and delight you in the chaos while connecting the dots. As I am the kind of person who hates spoilers with a passion I always do my best to give as little of those as possible in this section of the review. Holding to that I can tell you that up to the point reviewed the author has laid the groundwork quite well and is heading

Che. 29 End of first arc. So far it shows potential to be a great story, at least in my opinion this is a less threaded path so it feels novel despite the obvious tropes of xianxia stories, that's why I gave it 4.5 stars, it could end a gem or never realize it's potential, is all in the authors hands.
I like the style so 5 stars, nothing more to add in here.
In this case I think that the character and the story in the same situation so is fair that they both have the same score. It is still too early to judge, but the MC has some shortcomings that could either go downhill or been overcome showing character growth, even growing these shortcomings and the MC acknowledged them but still wanting to be true to himself could be considered character growth. Still it's important to have a balance in how the character will grow through his chosen path, it could add or substract to the narrative if the character is too perfect or too stupid.
As for the grammar I gave it 3.5 because of earlier chapters, but I think that it has been improved in the last chapters and this score could change in the future.

    Overall:
I like the story overall because it doesn’t take itself too seriously and has moments of levity but also has some serious moments. I find the concept fun and enjoy the pacing and the in universe hinting of where the story is going.
    4 stars
    Style:
At first I was dubious of this story because the protagonist’s actions in the first few chapters felt unrealistic and unbelievable and the dialogue seemed stunted. The narration was also a little choppy and forced in the first few chapters. After a few more characters were introduced, both the dialogue and the narration smooths out more, though as of right now, I personally  think the narration could use a little more refinement but it does currently maintain the current vibe of the story quite well.
    3 stars
    Story:
Overall the pacing is pretty good. Stuff happens at a good pace. Setbacks and problems pop up for the protagonist at a realistic pace with reasonable roots and the protagonist’s progression is fairly quick but not without difficulty and the progression is justified well within the bounds of the story. The first few chapters, specifically 2-6, stuck out as kind of out of place in the flow and I would suggest condensing the most vital information into an internal infodump around what is currently chapter 7 and scattering the rest of the information throughout the following chapters if necessary. After that hiccup though, the pacing is fairly good.
    4 stars
    Grammar:
Fantastic in this area. Top marks. It’s obviously been proofread thoroughly, and it’s all punctuated properly and it’s doesn’t skip words or any of that kind of thing. Everything is coherent and well done.
    5 stars
    Character:
In the first two chapters, I felt that the characters lacked depth. This feeling lessened as the story progressed and we learned more about the characters. My current impression is that the characters have some depth but are not necessarily more than ankle deep (if that makes sense as a metaphor). They’re not flat caricatures

Its okay and has a sort of unique cultivation system/ability.
I am quite early in the story. But most characters seem shallow. And the world building is pretty lacking. Though again this could be because I am reviewing earlier then usual.
Regardless overall. Its not bad. But its just not good enough to remain in my reading list.
