The Corpse Farmer

Description

Wei Cabbage-Heart wanted to be a mighty cultivator who called down heaven's thunder. Unfortunately, heaven's thunder called back and killed him, and now I'm stuck in his body with uselessly wide spiritual meridians.

Throwing lightning bolts? Fighting young masters? Pursuing immortality through meditation and pills?

Nah, I'm good. I'm going to grow people instead. From corpses. Like cabbages.

Armed with nothing but a sturdy shovel, a general understanding of cultivation, and a reluctant spirit beast adviser bird-person who keeps threatening to eat me, I'm going to revolutionize the cultivation world through explosive gardening and questionable corpse disposal techniques.

Join Cabbage-Heart as he:-Turns an infamous young mistress into fertilizer-Adopts a critically depressed banshee-Creates an army of questionable violet cabbage

That was fun, interesting and different. Would love to read more!
Funny without it getting in its own way, interesting premise. Surprising in some ways also. The start is a bit cliche but that ends there.
Similar in some respects to some other farmer cultivator stories, definitely some inspiration there. But with a great twist.
Also the mc might be op in some weird way, to be confirmed. But in an active and thoughtful way rather than by accident or without his knowledge.

Yet another awesome branching of this universe, this time making up a sort of Xianxia setting, minus the usual core story elements.
I personally want to read more, and even on a Short Story state, I can already see a few parallels with some of the semi-recurring characters (kind of reflections of the same people across different realities/reality fragments).
If this gets enough positive reviews, it might get to become a long story, and that would make it more appropriate to theory craft about its connection to other stories in the universe.
Very awesome overall, 10/10 as far as 6 chapter long stories go.

Having to add extra text so i can post this... 🀦:D
I'm not sure that it would work as well if you extended to a full series.
Yes, it could work as a series, and there are a lot of isekai-farmer stories, but this one stands on it's own as a short vignette.
Writing short stories is a more difficult task than writing long tales. As you have fewer words to play with, all of them have to be right. :D

Very funny story that went way differently than what I was expecting at the start. The ending was creative and I was surprised by how many cabbages there were at the end. A good short read I intend to get my friends to read. It is also really nice that the story was mostly posted all at once. I cannot wait for more stories.

This is an enjoyable read. I love how in only a single year there are already hundreds of corpse cabbages and for all we know they could have the same potential/power as their original "seed". I also can't wait for that Village and Grave Keeper to see all the children based on the first introduction they may not even report them at all to any cultivators.

Pls continue it. Its actually well written and very cute. The metaphysical approach to curses, magic and the set up is also really fun. Would love to read more
The setup itself is rediculous enough to make it both entertaining and surprising when there js actual emotional depth behind the characters.

A short story full of wonder and creation.
If you like the rest of Vitaly's work you will definitely like this one. If you *dont* like his other works there is about an 80% chance you will like this one anyway. It has all the shining creativity and cleverness without the twistyness that some people may not enjoy.
The author's note at the end says that if there is enough intrest, he will continue the story onward past its first natural end point. Not sure if that would be a nice thing or if the joy of the valley would collapse under the weight of conflict. Come what may I suppose.

A fun story that actually explains some of the concepts of the cultivation genre while having an actually interesting premise supported with good scenes. The book seems a lot more epic in scale than it really is, and the charm develops until the very end - growing on the reader just like a well-tended crop. There are only a few mistakes here and there in the prose, and the shortened nickname of one character is perhaps unintentionally rude. It does become a bit overly cute in a strange way and left me with a smirk. The idea of using corpses to grow crops is decidedly different and the grotesque factor is kept to a minimum - so give it a read!
