Description

Cassian Rosier is a failure. A near-Squib in one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight families, he’s spent his life as the family’s punching bag... mocked, dismissed, and barely tolerated. But when a simple light spell becomes his last chance to prove himself, Cassian’s world shatters in a way none of them could have imagined. Because the Cassian they knew? He is gone. In his place is a man from another world... our world. A man with no magic but a lifetime of teaching behind him, and only the vaguest memories of a “Harry Potter” series he never bothered to read or watch. Suddenly trapped in a body with a ruined reputation and no real power, the new Cassian has one goal... to survive. When forced to give a lecture on magic, Cassian bluffs his way through by teaching Lumos... a spell he doesn’t know. But something strange happens. As hundreds of people learns from his lecture, mastery floods his mind. And then it happens again, an ancient variation of Lumos awakens, along with memories that don’t belong to him. Some memories are benign, illuminating secrets of long-forgotten magic. Others are sharp, dark, and dangerous... leaving him to wonder whether he is drawing on wisdom or inviting something far worse into himself. Now sent to Hogwarts as a professor, Cassian must juggle the expectations of his pureblood family, the suspicion of fellow teachers, and his own growing power. Every spell he teaches brings him closer to mastery... and to the ancient past that might consume him. A snarky, slow-burn power fantasy about an accidental professor who teaches magic too well, unlocks spells no one remembers, and juggles ancient memories, family politics, and students who might be the end of him. What to Expect -Light-hearted, snarky tone (Cassian’s dry humor carries the story). A reluctant but clever MC navigating Hogwarts, pureblood politics, and ancient magic. Progression fantasy elements: teaching magic makes Cassian stronger over time. Ancient spells come with lingering memories—some helpful, others unsettling. A competent teacher MC (no “bumbling fool” energy here, but plenty of witty one-liners). Slow-burn romance with a single female lead (Bathsheda Babbling). Exploration of Hogwarts daily life from a professor’s POV, with banter, levity, and political scheming. Content Warnings Mild swearing (Cassian has opinions and isn’t shy about sharing them). Family dysfunction and emotional manipulation (Rosiers gonna Rosier). Canon-typical prejudices (pureblood vs Muggle-born ideology), handled critically. Occasional darker themes tied to ancient spell memories. Slow-burn romance, no harem. No gratuitous gore or smut. Warning: May contain dangerous levels of sarcasm, accidental teaching competence, and the occasional romantic subplot you never signed up for. Proceed with tea. I am so enjoying this series. Refreshing, cozy and building up to slowly to kick ass. Excited to keep reading a chapter almost daily. The writing has just the right amount of humor, sarcasm and plot movement going on to grab my attention and keep coming back for more. I am bit worried that MC will become super overpowered and the story will get derailed. I am not sure how big the author is planning the story to be. I highly recommend checking this series out.

To be honest, my title speaks for itself, but I shall elaborate.I have started playing Hogwarts legacy after letting go of it for some years, and I now realize the power behind this fanfic. I want to say that in terms of Harry's story, Rick Riordan did a great job making a masterpiece. When it comes to the greater wizarding world, conflicts, spells, history, knowledge, politics, nobility, etc, this novel has spoiled me. I can no longer read the same books or play the same games without asking the question why? You could say that the lesson Professor Rosier has applied to his students has applied to me as a reader. The detail behind the true magical dangers of the world are so much more interesting than silly people like Grindelwald or Voldemort. Albus finally looks like a villain, the Ministry shows its incompetence, and Muggles are much more powerful than expected. Wizards don't hide from Muggles to stop themselves from taking over the world, they are scared of being persecuted. The population also astound me, Historical background that seemed weird makes sense. I kid you not, I can't read other fanfics anymore without dropping after the first 4 chapters seeing the inability of professors to help students. At this point, I am rambling. The author is TheFanFicGOD, and I hereby stand by his name.

I find this story to be well written, and well thought out. While we haven't quite gotten to any major plot points just yet, (or I missed something, very possible), I absolutely love the writing style and plot.I definitely enjoy the history lesson scenes, and find that they flow quite smoothly without it sounding like the author just entered some random info that makes zero sense. Despite noticing a few comments that disagree, I feel that his character is great, and the early chapters introducing the old Cassian are definitely needed. His confidence when speakingdoesmake sense to me, I mean, quite a few people from our day and age have probably picked up enough to explain the lumos spell, just talk about history and add some facts about light. While I'm not sayingIcould do it, I'm sure that a historian or someone interested enough in history with some level of knowledge on science could put something together.Combine this with public speaking confidence and ta-da, you get a good lecture.I'm still unsure where the plot is going, but then again, I'm not particularly good at picking up on these things, I'll find out when we get there, and honestly? The story seems like a long, a good thing in my book.Regardless, I really enjoy the story and while completely unrelated, inwardly laugh at some of the authors notes. Definitely recommend.

I am in awe. I'm actually so annoyed I caught up to the end of the story cause this is so good, and I wanted to spend the rest of my evening reading it
I appreciate the principles that Cassian stands by. While I do feel like he sometimes pushes the needle with a lot of sarcasm, in general, they seem tasteful and you can really feel he doesn't deviate from his character. While character growth is something that I am fond of in stories, it feels like his personality has a positive impact on the school, and as this is a fanfiction, the growth of the characters surrounding him in canon is more than enough. While sometimes it feels like they like Cassian more than they should, overall they're evolving into something I always thought they were supposed to be.
In terms of story, a lot of dumb issues that plagued the source material are very well overturned and used. Surprisingly competent is very apt lol, cause half the issues would be fixed if anyone else thought about it logically.
While it does limit the author sometimes, the side stories that they get up to more than make up for it, as well as their interactions with the broader wizarding world as a whole. I do think there are some continuity issues between chapters and some weird breaks, but those were more at the start, and once the regular academia life was set up, it was a lot smoother.
Overall, this story didn't hesitate to get into the fun stuff, which is getting excited about magic and the history most people would never think about from just watching Harry Potter, and that's what I enjoy the most. The freeform used in the stories help this fanfic out a lot, and I'm very glad to have come across his novel.

This story is well-written, clever, and genuinely fun to read. The dialogue is witty, the plot has a good mix of some nice slice-of-life, visits to the original HP plots, as well as totally different characters and plots, usually about archaeology and ancient horrors. I read the books back when they came out, but wouldn't call myself a big Harry Potter fan, and I don't usually do fanfics. That doesn't matter though, these chapters are a delight to read regardless. His 3rd year on the job, Harry and his friends start their 1st year, and the story begins to occasionally intersect the original books, but not in an unoriginal way. The MC is only going off vaguely remembered pub conversations he's heard about the story, not any knowledge of what will happen, so the story feels fresh. Even when events from the original books crop up, they don't always play out the same, and seeing them with a new perspective can be interesting. I looked at some of the bad reviews, to see why the few haters hated, and it was mostly indignation that it might be AI-assisted (don't know how they decided that, it is well written), complaints about the MC's smugness and/or politics, or impatience with the slice-of-life bits. None of these were problems to me at all, 5 stars. That should be 200 words, right?

Extremely well written, main character is both annoying and endearing. World is Harry Potter-esq but don't expect retrod story beats. There's a heterosexual romance if that's your sort of thing (thankfully easy to skim quickly). I started reading because of the "unlocking ancient spells" to rewrite wizards understanding of magic. 40 chapters in our MC has only used 1 spell despite unlocking many more and additional variants. Leans heavy on history as opposed to magic.

A lovely read, one that will keep in the background of your thoughts outside of each page. An amazing blend of action, mystery, intrigue, and twists I have gotten truly shocked by, make it endlessly charming.
While I am usually a stickler for pacing, this story does a great job keeping things consistent and all at its own flowing pace.
Every chapter typically has me interested, there is never a chapter I didn't have something fun or enjoyable stick out to me.
I will say that my biggest gripe is mostly my own fault, as there is quite a few things that can be 'missed' and I have never been able to catch small details like that. Fortunately, there is the fact that it also usually makes things apparent if it is truly pertinent.
One of the few reads I have followed almost every chapter upload. Blending a mix of original ideas and a divergent plotline this story has been a true treat to read.
200 limit be like: oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi AWOOGAAA oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi  *Metal_Pipe.mp4* oi oi oi! Take care lads! And enjoy the story!

I have loved this work as it is giving me a lot of laughs with our sarcastic protagonist, his views on history together with the grammar that is so impeccable!....I can see my English improving as I have such challenging reading time when I am seeking Google Translate on other works, it wasn't always that bad but this is a breath of fresh air, The author is truly taking his time polish what I will read and even considerate helping up with the images to create a better imagery for a more enjoyable read.

Great, entertaining read! Cassian is an MC doing the best he can with absolutely no experience at this magic business, simultaneously trying to teach Hogwarts gremlins to look at the world around them with a critical eye, and explore just when why & how the spells they're learning originally came to be! All while leveling mastery over these basics grinds away in the background, and mysteries come via the System! My favorite aspect of this writing has to be the History lessons, the classroom engagement - keep in mind, Cassian is learning all this for the first time too!MC is sarcastic, funny and biting depending on who's the target, and their relationship with Prof Babbling is ridiculously sweet. I can't wait to keep reading and see where this goes!

Every chapter grips you, the dialogue is fantastic, and the larger story beats fit well within the universe. Cassian's humor and story telling lend well to lectures, fictional or not. One of the best HP stories I've read in the last decade. The original content during the summers lends itself well to growing the connected schools and paid off well during GoF.
