Description
Warning:The following book isnota light/casual read. I had some readers complain about the complexity, while you may not, others had. So, the warning stands.
"Rebellion and Unification are the two opposite sides of the same coin-fear and confusion. "
It was the darkest day in Dragonix's history; the self-sacrifice of the Emperor to stop the rebellion. Amidst the turbulent peace, came the selection of the next Emperor. Dragonix faced the risk of yet another rising rebellion. Behind the pretence of peace, the two Frontiers pitted their claws on one another. But amongst the chaos, a third party rose.
Dragneel Bloom, a wandering warrior with unknown origins, was summoned by the Great Aide to adhere to the origins of the third party and begin a universal agitation.
Iian, a young but accomplished lady, who only intended to save her friend, ended up tagging along to unite the universe again.
Blade and pen blended against a formidable evil. But before that, would Bloom be able to reach the Great Aide safely?

- SkarabraeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a great story.
Style: I like this story's style a lot. It has literary devices, in particular a lot of imagery that helps with the story's tone and set various scenes within the story. The author has incredibly good word choice and is able to set the tone very well with it. The author's way of writing is also unique. And I can safely say that the tone fits the story perfectly.
Story: The story is great. it is paced at just the right pace. It develops at the right pace too. The story itself is about a nation in crisis and people who get caught up in the crisis. This premise is handled very well, and I think the worldbuilding is great. The story does exactly what it needs to when it needs to.
Grammar: I couldn't find any grammatical errors. That does not mean they don't exist, but if they do, they are most likely not distracting enough for most people to notice them.
Character: The characters are really good. Most of them are not all that relevant to the story but those that are fit Royal Road's criteria incredibly well. They are well-depicted, realistic, and three-dimensional. I like the main characters of the story in particular. They are quite interesting and very well done.
Overall, I highly recommend this story. - longwindedone1Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0(Reviewed after chapter 7.)
Style:
Let me start by stating that normally I struggle with prologues. Sometimes, I even skip them and come back to them at the end of a book. But this one fit in well. There is a spirit named Throne, who summons a woman named Dragneel and tells her that she is destined to become a Monarch Dragonix. After, It doesn't take 4000 chapters to hear about Dragneel again. Huge win for that! Overall, the writing style paints a rich picture of the universe. Descriptions are detailed and serve a purpose (unlike many Anne Rice books I have read... don't tell anyone I've read Anne Rice).
Story:
The plot is interesting. The concept of the Monarch Dragonix is introduced with a sense of mystique. There are elements of magic and power woven into the story. The prologue effectively sets the stage for the ensuing conflict.
Grammar:
The grammar and nuts and bolts are well-handled. I didn't get overly distracted by anything major. Sentences are well-constructed, and the dialogue is natural.
Character:
The characters are one of the best parts of the story. Dragneel is introduced as a strong MC, mostly unfazed by Throne. Throne itself is a fascinating character. There is an important character/princeling named Ignia that really wants to be emperor (isn't there always one of THOSE guys). Conflict is a-brewing. I dig it.
Throne Of Dragonix is an ambitious story. It is fantastic (literally), and scratches that "chosen one" story itch that I love. Do recommend! - L.R. Monroe (Emrys)Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0The world you find within the pages of this story is incredibly well-built. You can tell that the author put a lot of thought and care into it. It almost has a Game of Thrones vibe in the sense that it feels like political machinations are going on. The characters themselves are well-written, and there appear to be many of them. Each comes through the page as being distinct. Well done on the author's part.
I found no glaring issues with the grammar. The style is third person, clearly fantasy, and is interesting. The story so far is good. A lot is going on. The author means it when he says this is no casual read. It is clear that the author has a plan though and I am confident it all comes together well.
Overall I give this story a five-star rating simply because of the amazing amount of work that went into building the world and plotting the story. The lore is rich, the characters are cool, and the story is complex but weaves together nicely. It is worth reading for that alone.
I also like dragons and there seems to be a lot related to dragons in this story. Always a plus on my part. I suggest giving this story a try! - RavensFantasyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Style/Story: The style flows pretty well. Only minor complaint on this was when there was some text written in one of the chapters that was of different color, made it a little hard to read. Sentences are written well. Good descriptions of scenes and characters. The chapter length is fairly good and consistent overall.
The story overall seems interesting and has great promise. I have only read through part of chapter 8 so far and I am interested to see where this goes.
Overall, this part was good, captivates the reads and maintains their attention.
Grammar: For the most part, I didn’t find any issues here. There was one minor quotation mark that made me question if it was in the right place or not. Overall flow and word choice to me seemed pretty good. Other than that one quotation mark, great job here!
Characters: I enjoyed each character that was introduced. For me the names were interesting as they fit the character and what they were really well. Each character that was introduced so far had their own uniqueness to them. With most characters being dragons.
In Summary: Overall, the story is well written with a set of unique characters. - Reccos21Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Alright, another very good story that doesn't fall into the 'RR meta' some might say. Let's get started...
Style: I'd say the best quality of the story in terms of writing is the imagery. I had a very easy time picturing a lot of the characters, settings, and futuristic depictions that was described in the story. Pacing was good, and the story flowed pretty well. It's unique but good
Story: Yeah. There are some stories you pick up and you can just tell the author has put an extensive amount of time and effort into creating the fictional universe they've created. This is one of those examples. I personally am a huge sucker for arcs or stories that place emphasis on political importance or disputes and seeing how people act or react in given scenarios (hunger games, attack on titan, tbate, for ex). Definitely felt that same vibe here
Grammar: Great. No main complaints
Character: Ooof I think it's a toss up between the story and characters for which is the best "trait" of the story you could say. The characters are multi-dimensional, layered and have very intricate dynamics and dialogues between one another to create a very suspenseful tone. I love it
Overall: Dude maybe I just really like most of the stories I read, but this is another one that I really recommend. Great read - simplyleoRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Style:
The style here is a bit on the weaker side. I believe the flow needs work between some of the scenes, but overall, it isn't that bad. The chapter length is consistent and the story doesn't feel too slow. I would say the pacing is done fairly well.
Story:
The story is very interesting, and within the first seven chapters, you're really pulled into the world. If you're looking for a political fantasy story where each character has their motives or purpose, this one might scratch that itch. I would say that some moments really make the reader wonder what is going to happen next and how everything will unfold. Each moment feels meaningful and builds suspense as we learn more about what sets everything into motion.
Grammar:
There were a couple of mistakes but they weren't enough to take away from the story too much. Overall it should be fairly smooth to read and I don't think there's too many issues.
Character:
The characters feel very lifelike, and you can tell their differences. Several of the characters have multiple dynamic pairs, but my favorite would have to be the Great Aide and Iian. Their relationship feels natural and smooth. There isn't a moment that feels off with them, and they help build each other up.
Overall:
I enjoyed the story. If you look past the style and grammar, which could easily be fixed with some editing and polishing, I believe the story has a solid foundation for something great. The way everything is set up makes the reader wonder what happens next, and from what I've read (up to chapter 7), it does a good job of keeping the reader's attention. - R. BlomRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Throne Of Dragonix is a very ambitious idea of dragons, politics and civil wars by an author with a passion for storytelling, but it has some flaws.
Style: I think this is the novel's strongest point by far. There are all sorts of fancy edits using different colour text, italics, bold and formatting styles. Done too much this could make the novel look cluttered but the author has used them sparingly and in situations that make sense; letters, newspapers, storytelling, etc.
Other than that, the world is very vivid and the characters are very detailed in their descriptions. Maybe a bit too vivid for beginner readers but I'm not going to nitpick that since it is supposed a high fantasy.
Story: The story is very complex. You've got dragon politics mixed with a rebellion and civil war, mixed with a sudden time travel plot, mixed with prophecies and memory wipes and more. It feels like there are too many plot points which makes it hard to follow along.
I don't know how many chapters the author plans on doing for the novel but the pacing feels very rapid with all these plot points in quick succession.
Grammar: Grammar-wise is fine, if you go through it with a fine-toothed comb you're bound to hit a small snag here and there but the author fixes it fairly quickly. Overall, it reads nicely with no major grammar mistakes.
Character: Sadly, I believe this to be the weakest point. But with some more fleshing out and future chapters, I think this could be fixed.
Ignia's character for instance starts off as a desperate teen who only wishes to know the truth about what happened to his father, this is a great set-up but then literally 4 chapters later with no scenes he's changed to a massively spoiled arrogant psychopath. Such a change was jarring.
Other characters are not spared either. Dragneel the supposed MC (if I'm reading the synopsis correctly) was introduced as someone going toe to toe with one of the strongest dragons and supposedly has lived for millions of years yet she' - WinterwispRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Overall, this is a story that deserved the disclaimer: complex. You have to be prepared for that going into it. There's a lot of lore laid out up-front, but not immediately explained, and you have to be able to parse through that. It is both a strength and a weakness, but it's worth a shot to read, to see if you can get into it.
We're set in a world of political intrigue and vast realms where many different forces are vying for power. We meet Iian, who is faced with an old friend, Igni, who is turning vengeful, because of the loss of his father--the previous emperor. On the other hand, we have Bloom, a mysterious figure who has disappeared from history for a long time, and now returns as a candidate to become the new ruler of Dragonix. We follow their story as the truths of the past is revealed, and we learn more about the world they're in.
Character: There are several characters introduced over a short span of time. I think the characterwork on the most important ones is well done, with a small spotlight on each of them that gives us their immediate traits and motivations. I especially like that Igni is set up with good motivations for his actions that sets him up to be a good, potential antagonist for the story. The difficulty for the author, going forward, will be to balance Bloom's OP powers so we can have actual tension when she fights.
Story: Like I said, the story is complex. I'm all for complexity and intricate world-building, but it's a tightrope dance to walk. I think the story does a lot of good in the opening chapters to arouse the reader's curiosity and draw them in, setting up a lot of mysteries. However, compared to the epic scale of the conflict, the pacing of the story is breakneck, and often the mysteries set up at the beginning is revealed in a rather off-the-cuff manner.
Style: In this section, I have some difficulty making a judgement. I've set a lot of my personal preferences aside, and looked at how intentional the choices are. There are insta - InsomniacsRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Style:
While the style could benefit from a bit of refinement, it doesn't overshadow the narrative's strengths. There are some transitions between scenes that could flow more seamlessly, yet overall, the pacing maintains consistency without dragging. The story unfolds at a steady pace, ensuring engagement without feeling rushed.
Story:
The narrative is undeniably captivating, drawing readers into its world within the first few chapters. For those seeking a political fantasy brimming with intricate character motivations, this story is sure to satisfy. Certain moments leave readers eagerly anticipating what twists and turns lie ahead, with each revelation adding depth to the unfolding plot. Every scene feels purposeful, heightening suspense as the story's intricate web unravels.
Grammar:
Though a few errors are present, they don't detract significantly from the reading experience. Overall, the prose flows smoothly, with any issues being minor and easily overlooked. The narrative remains accessible, with no major hindrances to immersion.
Character:
The characters are portrayed vividly, each exhibiting distinctive traits that lend them authenticity. Dynamic relationships abound, with particular praise for the natural rapport between the Great Aide and Iian. Their interactions feel genuine, contributing to the overall richness of the story and the development of its cast.
Overall:
Despite minor stylistic and grammatical considerations, the story is a compelling read. The narrative's structure keeps readers eagerly anticipating what lies ahead, maintaining engagement throughout. - The Toad FamiliarRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5NOTE: this review was written as part of a swap
Throne of Dragonix is a story about political intrigue and war between rival dragon clans - what's not to like? The action sequences and magic are reminiscent of wuxia stories, which I enjoyed and thought really fit in well. It feels like reading a great epic from mythology.
Style: 2/5
The writing style is easily the weakest part of the story, but could be improved with some polish. In several places, I felt like I was just being "told" how things were when being "shown" would have worked better. There were points where I had trouble following who was talking. The prose is littered with awkward phrasing and odd word choices that would distract me from fully understanding what was happening (and there's a lot happening!)
Having someone give the text a thorough proof-reading would work wonders, as the story itself is interesting and I hate to see it brought down by such a thing. On a positive note, I really liked the grandiose, mythical style of story-telling. I thought it very appropriate for a story about dragon nobles fighting for dominance.
Story: 4.5/5
If the style is the weakest point, then the story itself is the strongest. The world building is expansive, almost to the point that it feels overwhelming when it just throws you in the middle of it all. But as you read, it begins to come together to form a unique and interesting story. The first arc follows two story lines that intersect by the end and set up the proper foundations for the political conflict going forward.
However, the pacing felt a bit fast at times, as you are being introduced to several new concepts one after another without much time to digest them.
Grammar: 3/5
Like the prose style, the grammar is a little rough. Spelling was fine, but there were several mistakes in punctuation. I noticed a few incomplete sentences and other errors with the syntax that could be edited out with a good proof-reading.
Character: 4/5
