Description

When the God's went to war, reality and the worlds it contained, was shattered.

The remnants of shattered worlds drift through an endless void, their surviving people clinging to floating islands and sailing the skies on great ships powered by magic. Resources are scarce, and many risk the journey to the Wall—a vast graveyard of broken land, rich with the supplies they need to survive.

Aboard one of these ships, apprentice Gryphon Rider Erin is thrust into her new role far sooner than expected. When a newly founded colony comes under threat from the nightmares lurking in the depths of the void, Erin and an apprentice wizard must fight to protect it. Outnumbered and untested, they will have to rely on courage, magic, and the bond between rider and gryphon—because if they fail, the colony won’t be the only thing lost to the dark.

The title basically says it all. I really like the premise of this fic and am curious to see where it will go. The characters are generally likable and interesting, with a few clunkers and missteps here and there. Nothing that ruined my enjoyment, though. The action itself is fun and engaging, while the story beats so far have kept me interesting.
I do give it some demerits in the department of the prose and the grammar. It isn't terrible but it leaves some solid room for improvement. I think the author can improve on this kind of thing as they write more and hone their craft. The descriptions always have the potential to be good, but tend to fall short. Some spotty grammar as well. I think the story might approach 4.5 stars if it had a good editor.
All in all, if you read the summary and thought to yourself "man, that premise sounds interesting!", you'll probably enjoy this read. I've been a bit harsh here, but I am still excited to see where this story will go. I'm far from an authority, obviously, but I think this author has potential that they will improve on in the course of writing something like this. The fic has the potential to be a lot of fun if the author works hard, gets better, and keeps moving in the current direction.
