    I'm trying a different style of review this time around.

He is a guy who receives what seems like a disappointing inheritance—a rusty old sword—only to discover it holds soul-binding powers that thrust him into a hidden world of magic.
    The narrative style is immersive. It weaves humor through its more dark parts. What stood out to me was the creative twist on Mike’s journey from skepticism to a destiny of monster battles. His encounters, from the initial activation of the sword to his confrontations with a sentient trash can, are awesome.
    Character development is a strong suit of the story. Mike's evolution from a downbeat normal person to a determined hero is compelling. The supporting cast, like the conflicted spirit within the sword and Mike’s family, enhance the story.
