Description
Hi, hello? Can you read this? Good. So… before we begin, let me tell you a few things about me, just so you don’t mistake me for someone else. My name isElio Welchia.I’m a grieving widower on a mission to revive his dead wife. Nothing more. Nothing less.I may have a few medical conditions here and there that could give you the wrong impression.Hallucinations. Fatigue. White hair. Pale skin. Red eyes. Blood tears. The occasional lapse in sanity. Entirely normal things, really. But let me make one thing perfectly clear right now.I am not a vampire! No vampire here, haha. None. Nada. Zero!No blood-sucking Dracula.Even if that is what everyone else seems to think, whether back on Earth or in this new world full of Gods, creatures, kingdoms, questionable morals, and magic that I somehow ended up in.And yes, there is a sassy voice in my head that speaks only when she feels like it.And yes, I am apparently the King of an abandoned castle. But those are just small details. What is most important that you keep in mind is this:Elio is not a Vampire! Content Warning: This story contains grief, exhaustion, hallucinations, violence, and one (1) grieving, somewhat suicidal widower who is absolutely, categorically, and unequivocally not a vampire. If at any point this statement appears to be untrue, that is a misunderstanding on your part. Please do not argue with him about this.-Signed, Ephe. What to expect: - No Harem - A realistic, intelligent, but humanized MC. - A husband who will do anything to bring his wife back. - An OP Anti-Hero Lead, not by his choice, of course. - No Vampire MC (please disregard what everyone else says.) - Heavy themes Schedule: Monday to Friday! Author Note: The story opens dark and grief-heavy before shifting into a comedic, system-driven Isekai with escalating absurdity while maintaining and reintroducing the earlier themes as the story progresses. If you wish to support me and the story, you can read up to Chapter 100 onPatreonwhere, beside early content, you can find exclusive and non-exlusive art (SFW and... not as SFW art) and much more regarding me and my stories.

I’ll write a more comprehensive review at a later date when my experience with the story is more informed.
Until then I’ll give this story a cookie. 🍪 - happymangoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Yes, you heard me: garlic knots.
Because Elio's a vampire, right?
I mean, no! Totally... totally not a vampire. I meant honestly, the blurb alone had my interest piqued, usually when people are so vehemently against something, they've gotta be hiding something, right?
Well colour me surprised when the rest of the story caught me in, particularly the dialogue. It legitimately flows well, from Stevin and Enna's brattish, sassy spats, to the somewhat sarcastic, yet whimsical personality of Ephe and Elio (which, by the way, I adore Ephe. I hate Systems that intentionally try and screw over the MC for no stated reason, yet Ephe actually provides intelligible insight for Elio and is written to actually be fun to read rather than... 'show System stats'... okay... 'check for quest....')
So, yeah, great work on the dialogue! Not everyone writes it well enough that it sounds both good in your mind and outloud, keeps a good pace of the story, AND bounces back well between characters.
I also really like how Elio is developed. There are certain points of the story where he seems to backtrack, do things that might otherwise seem nonsensical... but there's a reason for that. He is human (maybe...? hehe) and is suffering the devastating loss of his wife - which is the entirety of the story. Everything is for her. Grief does not make sense, it makes you do stupid things, makes you do things you'd think you'd never do, and Mr Wulibear captures that sort of emotional turmoil very well.
He's also just generally very likeable - kinda dry, witty, kind of a shithead but in a good way, has real frustrations and fears, and he's not afraid to express it either. Nothing worse than a MC that never speaks up, and thank the great Sun God that this isn't the case. - theemperorofmankindRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Evening mankind.
Back again with the second take at a review that royalroad would actually keep.
Why would I write a second review? Because the story is just that good.
Elio first, great lad.
With a head on his shoulder and definetly not a vampire, his antics turned out to be my second favorite thing in this book.
Not only because of his past, but solely because he has the condescending attitude of the modern man with relatable worries.
Ephe.
Tbh, beside relia whom the author just revealed, I would 100% be okay with this story turning harem ONLY IF Ephe would be in it.
The sassy attitude is something to die for and can't wait to see more of her in the future.
Stevin. Brat
Hate the guy
Enna.
The older sister as a reader pointed out.
She is a joy to see and I hope she is kept with this same cocky attitude of hers. No harem for her though.
She is the type I think would kill someone in the night.
Sounds fun until it happens, believe me.
Now all the best to wulibear, and I hope the story gets the love it deserves.
Emperor out. - OddmonRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5First of all; I really loved this story. It was mature, intriguing, and emotionally complex: a man suffering from unbearable heartbreak is uprooted from his life and given a difficult and uncertain path to reclaim what was lost to him. The story toed the line between dark and light elements; not too much of either as Elio explores his new world and gathers companions, all the while giving us an engaging narrative.
However, I feel like the vibes and mood of the story have changed a lot since the opening act. Maybe it’s just the down-time between major arcs (in which case, I might return to read more and update the review later in), but I feel like the story is degrading. It’s degrading into a light novel.
The supporting characters and Elio are no longer mature (or relatable/believeable, I should say?) or emotionally complex. They are trope-y caricatures: the mischievous fairy called Faye because she is a fairy, the sexy naive cat-woman that wants to get into the MCs pants, the sexy elf lady that really wants to get into the MCs pants, the sexy vampire lady that really, really!! wants to get into the MCs pants, the sexy priestess that YOU GET THE IDEA! At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if his female system also wants to go steady. And the very few male characters are somehow getting less screen-time and/or getting more and more simplistic with their personalities (which unfortunately is starting to include Elio).
I don’t need grimdark or anything to overcorrect, but just something more than a ‘will this become a light novel harem in two chapters time?’ story. Where did the mature, intriguing, and emotionally complex storytelling go? To me, it all started rapidly going downhill when William appeared in the story, because that’s also when Elio started swearing in his the internal monologue too, which was a bad shift in my eyes - why the sudden cussing when there was none before, unless the story is getting more simplistic and rough?
I’m hoping that I can let this s
