Description
In the deepest reaches of the Bone Pits, a canine seemingly like any other woke up in the ruined remains of a wooden box. With knowledge it shouldn't have, fleeting memories it couldn't reach, and the icy grasp of death crawling up its spine with every labored breath, it simply wished to live another day. Yet, in the bowels of a city built on metal corpses, nothing was ever simple. Gangs, religious groups, loose collectives, Dungeon Barons, highborn and cultists alike all battle for supremacy in the industrial underbelly of Carmera, blind to what prowls below. For in the writhing clouds of smog none peer into, in the murky, frothing depths of the sumps that none approach, in the deepest reaches of the Dungeon that none but the mentally deranged dare challenge, the last wolf rakes its claws through steel and howls to a distant sky. "Fleabag is not just another Monster Evolution story, it isTHEMonster Evolution story."Come and judge for yourself. Are you tired of fun monster evolution stories where the monster becomes increasingly less monstrous, and eventually they're just a more spicy version of a human and it stops being a monster evolution story?Well,i am.So-insert thanos meme where he says "fine, i'll do it myself"(The 'HIATUS' tag is auto-applied by RR after a month of no updates. Considering my updates are rather slow and big, this means you will be seeing this story in hiatus sometimes, when it actually isn't.)

- PotatoGuyNotRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Combat is boring, but everything else is either 5 star or 4 and a half
The characters have arcs that while not particularly compelling, they do their job.
Story starts as mostly just a murderhobo animal story with some fantasy elements
Prose is good, not the best, not the worst.
grammar is good, can't find anything in the story so far - NasuliInTheNightRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A very well written story about a horrific beast having fun, with combat and gore aplenty, and characters that have a depth that pulls you into wanting more! A captivating story of calculated mutation and body horror, topped with a delightful layer of rot and gore~
Not for the squeamish, nor those who prefer gallant battles in sunny fields. This is a gut clenching sewer-crawl through the heart of a toxic, industrial waste covered nightmare where even the air will kill. The characters are scarred inside and out and watching them grow into power is a rush. - Mr johnRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Firstly just a great story all around read it NOW.But if you require more convincing then allow me to explain why it is so good. First there is NO GODDAMMED "OH I GOT A HUMAN FORM NOW" bullshit in this story it is pure monster and even goes into else rich horror after a while gaining masses of tenticals and other good shit to terrorize the masses with. Second the monster FEELS real it is NOT a human it is a monster with little to no qualms agents the BLATENT SLAUGHTER of humans and I love it for that kind. Thirdly the grammer is pretty good and the author actively works to improve it which leads in my fourthly the author is ATICIVLY ACCEAPTING CRITISMIMS ANF WORKIMG TO IMPROVE ON IT UNJEARD OF RIGHT!?!? but really the author takes all complaint and complaints and works to better his problems as an author and then goes back the fix said !mistakes in previous chapterNow I will list some *minor* problem you may encounter a lot of biology talk because the basis of our monster power is in biology but the author does a pretty good job finding it down and he's less of it layer on. The update schedule our author goes aggenst all stereotypes about authors and ACTUALLY HAS A SOCIAL LIFE HOW INCOSODERIT so he realise about 1 10k word chapter a week in order to allow time for him to do all of his real shit....gross.the main overarching plot only really begins to male an appearance around chapter 30ish it is referenced in salir chapters but it take a backseat then. BUT that is jot to say the story is boring up to that point it is just that *other* circumstances prevent the MC from interacting with it.Now lastly some people in the comments were concerned about before so to settle your never now ACCORDING THE THE AUTHOR THERE IS NOT NOR WILL THERENEVERBE BEASTIALLITY IN THIS NOVEL (unfortunately(jk))
- DroidproRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Very well written book.
The author has an interesting perspective I would love to read more of, alas this looks dropped.
Very much reminds me of Rothfuss's novella the slow regard for Hidden things.
Hopefully someontoforget reads this and fires it back up, but either way it was a great way to spend the weekemd - DuskDeadmanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Yo it's back! The writer has returned! I'm gonna start rereading this from the start I enjoyed it that much! 10/10 love my monster stories, especially when the monster is actually a monster!PS: Why oh why RR? Why does it need to be 50 words long? Let me be lazy!!! I hate writing essays!
- F-rank HumanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is about a monster wolf. What sets this story apart from a dozen quadrillion other stories about monster wolves on this site, is that our monster wolf IS an actual monster wolf, not a human trapped inside the body of one, and certainly not a monster making human choices, using human sensibilities and morals.
There's a lot of gore and a lot of juicy descriptions of a lot of not pg things related to gore, but rather than being used for a shock factor, hey are used to set the tone of the story, the atmosphere. They set the view the wolf has of its world.
It's something new, dare I say, something unique?
In any case, the story is an unexpected treat. - ButterflymancerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This author actually fact checks his fight scenes to get the anatomy right for the gory details! Reminds me a bit of Watership Down even though I don't remember finishing that story. The descriptions of the setting are also excellent. The industrial backgroud have a Little Nightmare and Inside vibe.
- JarmaroRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Anyone familiar with Royalroad is aware of how many broken, shallow and half-assed LitRPGs lands here on a daily basis, mostly ending up as cringe-inducing power fantasies, quickly abandoned after just a few dozen chapters. This fiction is not one of those. The first thing that will suprise you is the suprisingly high level of writing, sentences flowing easily and without problem. There is of course a few hiccups, mainly strange descriptions of surroundings that make my imagination fold in half while trying to understand what exactly am I supposed to imagine, but aside of that, the technical side of the story is up there with the best on RR.This story is a Monster MC story, a classic. Except this one is already one of the best I've ever seen, easily outclassing 95% of every other monster MC stories. The biggest fear in every such fiction is if the MC will remain a monster, and if yes, then if they will become a human (or other species) lapdop. Fortunately, so far everything points towards it not being the case in this story, which makes me extremely optimistic towards the future. As for characterization, the MC is much more than just a murderhobo, and the characterization goes much deeper than you would expect from a story of this kind. The effort the author puts into writing the story is downright startling, considering I was sure he was a medical student or at least someone familiar with medicine/biology, while it turned out he didn't know practically anything about biology and was researching it as he was writing. It might sound like a flaw, but it's actually a very useful skill to be able to write something without making it look wrong (although I admit I'm not familiar with biology myself, so maybe someone who is might have spotted errors that eluded me).Honestly, I am a bit shocked how good this fiction is, I saw it recommended somewhere and decided to read it after another story turned out to be a dissapointment, and I couldn't have made a better decision.
- Re_XyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I love the story as a whole. While I love the character Progression, the world that is built, and the story so far, I don't have a single clue about grammatical things, so take the grammar five stars with a grain of salt. The story is slow jet progressive, threading the thin line between Interesting and too much detail. I personally love the Biological parts that are the canine protagonist's magical ability, but the author lost me several times during the description of the surroundings, resulting in scim reading. The fights always serve Important things like Plot progression, character development, and similar situations, resulting in the reader getting invested in every major wound. While the Protagonist is smart, he is smart in a smart dog way, making him a lot more believable.I came here looking for an evil monster protagonist when this story had four chapters and found a lovable abomination that just wants to survive and thrive, while slowly understanding the world around it. Things that are complicated to us are obvious in Fleabag's eyes, while things that we do every day pose mysteries to it. In general, I wish I could forget the content and read it all again. Even the author's notes are better than most stories I know.So thank you someone to forget for this Masterpiece of fluffy gore.
