Tanis loved her life. It was fun- Tournaments, sudden “vacations”, shopping sprees, illegal lessons on the Weaving , and the occasional party thrown by one of her Father's “business associates”.

Being a mafia boss's daughter had some perks, but she had seen the strain being put on her father's shoulders. The granite visage that would soften with a smile from his only child in recent weeks had changed to stone-faced worry and determination. With suspicious timing, a government-backed takeover forced father and daughter apart, and began her initiation in to the world of deadly politics, corrupt government, secrets of scattered bloodlines, and mysteries from millennia ago.

Zed didn’t care much for his charge. He did care about the checks that kept him coming back to do his job, and to do it well. He tried not to ask too many questions, as anyone that would hire someone like him should know what they would be getting into. But he held reservations for a boss that had hired him with no more than an uncomfortable stare and a glance at his ‘resume’. For his set of skills, bodyguarding a mafia boss's daughter was quite simple with the structure in place. But when an attack fell upon them with no warning, his job just became that much more complicated.

Two people on the run, forced together by necessity and a compelling vow. Having to rely on each other to keep ahead of their pursuers, knowing nothing of why they are chased on all sides, and only hoping that their list of trusted allies doesn’t get any shorter than it already is. Strangers turned partners, they will uncover secrets of the underbelly of the empire, within the history of the past, and those from their own lives.

This series is just me dipping my toe into the writing world. There is a tentative plan for regular updates, hopefully even finishing this series, but I am more interested in sharing what little I have come up with. Thanks for your interest and feedback!

What to expect:

Some swearing- I only do it to be realistic of the characters reactions, and to not bog down my writing with euphamisms.

A world that blends modern and sci-fi elements, with fantasy along the edges of civilization.

Switching POVs, mostly to flesh out characters and the world.

Reincarnation (Kind of??)

Very slow burn romance- the beginning events of the story are not a very healthy place to start a relationship, and I really dislike glorifying trauma-bonding, so there will be platonic emotional support and at most a little bit of flirting.

Criminal underbelly- honestly not very sure how accurate or detailed these will be, any suggestions are helpful.
